Great episode. I literally gasped when the shadow figure rushed out of the woods and tackled Rebecca on the bridge. My heart was racing during the entire chase scene. heh

BTW, has anyone seen what the combinations from the opening credits have done yet? Or do we have to wait until the season is over? I forgot how this works.

Besides the hash tag what else is Cinemax doing to promote the show? Why air it on Friday nights anyway? If it were on Sunday nights, on HBO, would it be as talked about as Game of Thrones or True Blood?

Cinemax is owned by HBO, so putting Banshee up against HBO programming on Sunday night doesn't make a lot of sense. Not to mention the rest of the competition on Sunday nights. They're seemingly happy to have a show that's growing viewership and (hopefully) their subscriber base as they build the brand. As far as promotion goes, they ran ads on HBO, there were print/bus shelter/billboard ads, etc... It's certainly not on the level of what, say, HBO does, but they did do a decent amount of promotion.

Chayton is badass, still not on the levels of the Albino though, that fucker was creepy,i had a nightmare with him, a couple of nights back, lol.

Goddamn, what an episode.

Chayton is a fantastic addition to the cast. The fight against Hood and co was fantastic. Really love how well choreographed all the fights have been this season. Can't wait to see what mayhem he causes in his wake, especially if/after he finds out that Nola was the one who killed the girl...

The long awaited Kelly, Hood hookup did not disappoint. She looked damn fine and not only that, she looked buff as hell. Goodness...

Nola's attempts to provoke hatred between the Natives and Amish certainly worked, will be interesting to see how that develops. Speaking of, the Kai beatdown was...HOLY SHIT! I felt the second baseball hit to the guy's balls. Goddamn.

Rebecca. Poor, silly Rebecca. I love her, but damn is she stupid. Why did she stop running? WHY? There was absolutely no reason to and yet she does it twice...crazy.

did you cut his penis?

No, lol he beat me up and tortured me until i woke up all sweaty and panting, i had to sit up for a second, before going back to sleep.
However it cemented my impression of the character deeper.

So hopefully i'll have a nightmare about Chayton, too!

The only thing I didn't like about Voldemort is the show never explained his appearance in the Banshee universe; confusing.

Well albinos are real, lol (don't know if someone can get that pale, though).
I guess he played it up by shaving the eyebrows etc to be more intimidating.

I liked the Chayton fight because he was so cartoonishly overpowered against Hood and the others. It was a good change a pace from the usual fights.

Solid episode.

Pros:
  • Hood keeps finding ways to get himself trashed. That's some fucking dedication.
  • Chayton is one scary motherfucker.
  • Did Deputy Kelly get that D? Why yes, she did.
  • Will the new, cute ADA that D?
  • Deputy Emmett is totes seeing through Kellyhood.
  • Sugar being a good friend (and probably protecting his own biz)
  • Rebecca little scare in the woods. What are you doing, my pretty. Just run.
  • Kai Proctor, man of peace.
  • Burton drawing the line and enforcing the fuck out it.
  • Nola. Oh, Nola. What did you do, gurl.

Cons:
  • Chayton's introduction was a bit too cheesy (although he got better)
  • Somewhat afraid of Rebecca being used as a recurring damsel in distress. I want her to go bad.
  • Can we please get more Burton brutalizing fools?

I had a lot of fun and from the preview it looks like next week's episode
is going to be even more action packed.
Also, I'm sure this GIF will get some use around these parts

Awesome episode. Chayton is scary, some great fights. Murder mystery is interesting, and i love when Banshee does this "little town problems". I liked scene with Kai and Burton beating up this guys, you feel every punch. And there were some great one-liners from Hood. Like, "everyone likes me" and "i don't live here".
And show has some nice score. For example in the scene where dude throws basketball at the car and music starts as ball hits the car, amazing.
I think Kelly and Hood was the best Banshee sex scene. And i think we will see a lot of their relationships in the future.

It is indeed. The opening credits sequence is specially great. Dark and moody, almost gothic, but also very pulpy and gripping. Methodic Doubt is doing a great a job.

I think Kelly and Hood was the best Banshee sex scene. And i think we will see a lot of their relationships in the future.

Deputy Kelly is the GOAT, but Carrie's scene with her husband blew me out like no other. Ivana Milicevic gave it all.

Why do you think they're showing her learning to shoot, and doing so with such proficiency? ;)
She's a killer in the making, no doubt.

I want her to inherit Kai's criminal empire. She needs to be its next Empress. :)
I'm glad to see we are all on the same page. God, I can't wait.

She did, but it was a bit of a disappointment 'cause it was only in that one position. Want to see more :p

Speaking of wanting to see more, I was kinda hoping that the Hood/Kelly hookup was a bit later in the season so there would be another Hood/Nola hookup and we'd see something from her! I suspect we've seen everything we're going to, though :(

I like Chayton. Looks far more intimidating than the albino.

Such a good episode. Having Hood deal with a murder mystery was ingenious, I think. It completely shoves him out of his comfort zone. I like that they didn't wrap it up, but that it will keep going for a while.

And Kelly and Hood hooked up! SHIEEEET! She has an amazing body. I loved how they intercut Gordon's stereotypical midlife crisis with Carrie falling apart in jail and Hood and Kelly getting it on.

Chayton was fucking creepy! Loved how insanely overpowered he was compared to everyone else. Plus, the actor delivered his lines in such an eerie and convincing way. Loved it.

OH! Kai with the baseball bat. FUCK. Badass.

Also, loved how they shot the chase in the woods with Rebecca. Felt really claustrophobic.

Was I the only one who thought of this?

The relationship between Kai Proctor and Rebecca seems so twisted, creepy and wrong. Is that intentional?

YAITANES: It’s complex. It’s so wrong. Everything sounds wrong when I put adjectives to it. It is very loving, but it is a complex relationship. There is something a little twisted there. Jonathan [Tropper] is a twisted guy. What can I say? That’s how Jonathan conceived it. Ulrich [Thomsen] and Lili [Simmons] are just great in their parts. I was geeking out on the season opener this year, when I rolled cameras on it. I get to know what happens! It’s great. In some ways, we know where it’s all going, but we want people really along for the ride and we want them to know that there’s a plan in place. This is going to be a highly entertaining ride, if they come with us on it.

Btw, there are some spoilers in the Collider interview (sounds like the reviewers have seen a lot of S2), so read at your own risk. I skimmed it quickly.
I still have to start with True Detective. Is it good?
The response is overwhelming positive, though there are a few outliers that find it a little too ponderous and overwrought in terms of how the dialogue is written. Definitely worth a shot when you have some time. I imagine some people would argue that it'll work better via a marathon, but I like taking it in weekly installments.

I think the performance are outstanding and the cinematography is impressive.
Everything else hasn't won me over like it did a lot of people though, 2 episodes in, it seems like it's taking its sweet time, without that much development, however.

I don't mind slow burning, but i hope it goes somewhere.
If i compare it with something like Rectify, so far i don't think it's as good, for example.

And yes, i am definitely in the "Marathon it" camp, so far.

Chayton is more menacing than scary. After all, you *can* run away from Chayton. The albino, though... you are trapped with him and his minions and that's the end of it. Oh, and he'll probably ask you to choke on his weisswurst before slashing your throat.

I want Kai to bang his niece. This is the show inwhich something like this could happen.

MAKE IT HAPPEN

Rebecca already had some weird flashbacks while she was pleasuring herself... I guess that counts for something.

Incest is seldom depicted in tv shows or movies. It's sometimes alluded to, but practically never shown.

If there ever was a show that had the balls to do it though, it would be Banshee. Which is why I want it to happen. No teasing or allusion or other non-commitment bullshit.

SEX AND GENITALS AND JUICES

Don't disappoint me, Cinemax.

Uhm.. Banshee is a great and fun show, but i don't see it as one breaking taboos too much.

I mean they got a lot of sex and violence and badassery, but nothing you wouldn't see in Game of Thrones and similar shows.

Meanwhile in True Detective they're giving you that guilt trip for perving on Lili Simmons.

It's a crossfire!

Not really. True Detective's efforts to pass her off as a child failed spectacularly. She's a grown woman and she looks like it. Nothing wrong with thinking she's attractive.

Rome and Game of Thrones already beat it to the punch. Hopefully due to the success of the latter show, we'll see an influx of incest scenes in the coming years.

Yeah, i said that in jest.

It's funny because (TRUE DETECTIVE ep2 spoilers)
Woody also bangs Daddario, which doesn't really look that older.

Well, they could learn a thing or two about how to do it from Game of Thrones.

I really like this show, though. Friggin' love Sugar punking little Hood.

Hunted is more of a British inspired spy show whereas this is more like a live action graphic novel. Banshee is much closer to Strike Back than Hunted. I think you'll like it.

Thanks. Marathoning this as a palette cleanser after catching up on GoT and its induced state of misery-shock. My jaw was on the floor for that casino MMA fight and I adored how that encounter was built up. Then the albino episode's gotten taken this to a level of batshit crazy and suspense far beyond my expectations.

Now this high school gym episode is the best so far with the handheld shots of the robbery chase and the tension of getting Hood to the high school. The way he just shows up at the school and walks on in... I think this show has satisfied all my teenage combat fantasies lol.
