Batman: Arkham Shadow impressions videos:

Are quest games able to be modded? I'm asking because I can fully imagine a modder attempting to de-VR this game much like HL: Alyx.
Yes they can be modded. That's the only reason people play Blade and Sorcery: Nomad. It is a convoluted process I believe, but is regularly done.

Only one year and the Quest 3 already have three masterpieces, Asgard's Wrath 2, AC and now Batman.
AC is far from a masterpiece, IMO.

Is anyone having trouble adjusting the turn speed? I choose immersive mode and it defaults to 5. When I point the cursor towards the right, it keeps counting backwards with each press. I want to raise it to 7 or 8 but can't figure out how to do so. And where is the experimental contrast option located?

If Sony was smart they would do their best to get this and Half Life Alyx on PSVR2.
Imagine what Sony has in mind for VR, it tells you they don't know how to make VR games, voice chat was a theory before what it is and Socom on the PS2 expanded it, so Sony needs a big game to expand VR.

Click and hold the trigger and pull the bar to the right. It's sort of quick flick. It's a glitch I think.

Contrast is under settings/experimental

I mean, yeah, it is indeed another RE4 Quest 2 situation, which was funded, produced and published by Meta.
Nothing wrong with that, IMO. Quest is basically another console and needs first-party games.
The RE4 port is absolutely incredible, by the way... it's definitely one of my top-5 VR games of all time. Yeah, it's just a port, but they perfectly translated the original game over to vr while feeling legitimately like you jumped inside your TV on the actual original, rather than reimagining or changing it. Just looking around the scenery in the original game like this, up close and full scale, is amazing.

If you bought a Q3 for Batman, definitely go back and play RE4; and while it was ultra-optimized for Quest2 you can bump up its resolution very high with QGO for Q3.

Agreed. I've beaten the Quest 2 and PSVR2 versions, but never tried it on Quest 3. Someone on reddit mentioned in terms of visual clarity, the Quest 3 version with QGO is by far the best way to play. I'd imagine you can really crank up the resolution it being a Quest 2 game. I had forgotten about that and will give it a try later.

How do you figure that? Unless it's under a contract of exclusivity there's always a chance

Meta owns the studio that created Batman. They funded the entire thing.

That doesn't stop sony or whoever from doing their own batman game, but Arkham Shadow is a Quest first party game. Very strong lockdown on something like that. I would expect to see Astro Bot on Quest 3 about as likely.

Ok...and? I get that they want to use this game as a killer app for MQ3 but if sales dried up 2 years from now and they feel they're going to get all they can out of this, there's nothing stopping them from pulling a Xbox and porting it to PSVR2.

I think the chances of Meta disbanding Camouflaj are higher in that scenario than allowing Batman on PSVR2.

Have you ever seen Meta allow any of their exclusive on any other platform? Even their PCVR exclusives are tied to the Meta store and never arrived on Steam.

In VR terms, PSVR2 is already getting older in 2 years and it notoriously underperformed in sales.

Also, Batman is a game about free movement and swinging your arms around. It just makes no sense to allocate resources to a wired a headset that no one bought. Don't get me wrong I like psvr2, but it's bottom of the barrel in terms of the likelihood of a port.

Not to mention, Meta doesn't care about people's feelings and keeping it on their devices. They're much more like Nintendo than Xbox in this regard.

Your arguments are no less weaker than someone saying the same exact thing about Xbox 10 years ago. Things change and money talks. If things change for Meta down the line and it makes financial sense, it's possible. That's all I'm saying.

Money doesn't talk here. PSVR2 is a failure, it doesn't make financial sense to port it there. Even Sony has crunched the numbers and deem it not worthy to make another first party game on it

Why would anyone care about PSVR2 in 10 years? Arguably, most developers didn't when it released. And I don't think anyone expects a PSVR3/4 after 2 bad financial showings in a row. To be fair, many were surprised we got PSVR2. It underperformed despite being good tech.

My friends came over today and no one wanted to try Batman. One of them even had the gall to say something like: "It looks cool but I don't want to throw punches. Isn't there a console version?"

I think you missed my point. No one thought Xbox would be in this position until they were. The specific amount of time is arbitarty.

The point is things change. Meta sales might fall off a cliff in 2026 and they decide to license Batman to PSVR2 to make some $$ off a game is no longer selling. Not saying that will happen, or even probable, but my point is it's possible. Really not sure how this is hard to understand...

Bringing up Xbox is a false equivalence. They're moving games to other platforms because that makes sense. Unlike PSVR2, there are lots of PCs and PS5s etc. Porting games is not flicking a switch, it takes alot of time and money. That's why it makes sense to port games to PC and PS5 and not PSVR2. Not to mention they're a direct competitor and every thing else we've brought up.

Really not sure how this is hard to understand. Is it absolutely impossible? No. Batman Arkham Shadow could be ported to the PS5 as a flat game. I'd argue that is more likely than a PSVR2 port.

Not saying never, but I am saying dont hold your breath.

the possibility of Sony porting PSVR1 games to Quest 3 is probably higher than Meta porting Arkham Shadow to PSVR2

It stands with Half-Life: Alyx as one of the most well realised virtual reality titles the industry has seen yet. It's unwavering in its commitment to Rocksteady's achievements with their own trilogy, cementing Arkham Shadow as a worthy entry into the series. It makes you feel like Batman in a way you simply never have before – and that's no small feat when you think about what was achieved with the other games in this legendary series.

Love or hate the company, Meta/Oculus funds some amazing games; they put the money up for quality.

Lone Echo was also 100% bankrolled by Oculus, and is still one of the greatest VR games ever made, even if sadly it seems relatively few have played it compared to Alyx etc.
