Yup Yup. This was one of my favorite shows in the 90's. I liked the Batman and Superman Adventures because they would show either batman or superman, which rocked also. 2nd place would be X-men, and i would put spidy 3rd, although it was close to xmen

Now I wouldn't say all that. Spider-man was my favorite show as a kid, but in retrospect, Batman holds up better.

No, that Spider-Man was utter garbage. As badly animated as the X-Men, and *that's* saying something.

Batman:TAS all the way.

Batman: TAS by far. A shame that the new "The Batman" series is crap.

I prefer the X-men to both of them(better stories), but Batman was better than Spiderman. The first episode of Spiderman was really solid though.

Funny enough, I like both the 3D Spidey cartoon on MTV, as well as the current Batman series. I really like the interaction between Bruce and Alfred, while the Spidey cartoon being CG allowed for some terrific fight choegraphy and space that 2D animation couldn't hope to match.

And for the record, I liked the Fox Spidey series as well...but Batman TAS is the best TV show I've ever seen, with maybe ten weak episodes in total (and half of those were from the WB run).

i never liked Spiderman or Xmen. They had just too much shit going on, 2 seconds of dialgoue and then explosions and shit. And i would hate how they would make Spiderman constantly talk and talk (or let you hear his 'thoughts') during the action sequences. He would never STFU. It was like it was made for kids with ADD.

A better comparison would be 90s Spiderman versus 90s Xmen. i can't think of another cartoon from the same period that i enjoyed as much as The Animated Series.

Yeah, definitely the better comparison, to which I say X-men. The ongoing storyline, and saga's were epic. Some bold storyline moves, as far as kids cartoons go, which is why I liked it when I was young. The whole Phoenix thing, happening to a main character was just nuts. It introduced me to X-men, and represented them well imo. The animation WAS shit though. I knew that back then even.

Batman and X-Men were both excellent. I loved the intro music to X-Men when i was a kid. In fact, i still remember how it goes.

I liked Spider-Man more then X-Men, simply because I'd always liked the Spidey character while the X-Men at that point were just some other comic guys to me. But I watched both shows religiously, and enjoyed them a lot. I wouldn't be surprise if they both failed to hold up though.

Batman: TSA was awesome.

Spider-Man had six arms for like 30948320953209543095832095320943029672340958320 episodes.

:lol Wasn't a fan of those episodes, along with the Morbius/Blade ones (hated those two characters).

BTW, I hope Zeo is reading this thread. :lol

Batman, easily. It's amazing how well that show has aged. I never got into Spiderman TAS, I can't get past the choppy animation (which has aged even worse).

I was just curious what episodes were your favorites among the many great moments of Batman: TAS. My favorite episode of all-time is Beware of the Gray Ghost (in the first dvd box set). Everything about that particular episode is simply amazing and I think it is a prime example of why Batman is one of the best television shows ever.

As if it hasn't been said enough, Batman: TAS. Only caveat was that I was a little agitated when WB brought it back, but with the timeline suddenly advanced (didn't care for the new Robin that much), several of the characters graphically redesigned (Timm was allowed to go all-out with his style, which didn't look quite as good as when they reeled him in a bit for the original run, Catwoman for example looked quite daft, and even had a different look out of costume) and sometimes had different personalities (Ivy getting all girly-girly with Harley and squealing during the Christmas shopping episode)... But I was still glad to get it back, at least for a little longer.

As for the others, I liked Spider-Man and X-Men both, but Spider-Man didn't get so tethered in previous plotlines (or at least flashed-back to them to explain them more), even though it still had permanent advancements in the plot (MJ and Peter getting married)... But sometimes Spider-Man did get a little short-changed in terms of animation (framerate drops) and the repeats of it now airing on Toon Disney are edited, I think. (I've read that they removed a lot of the buildings blowing up and similar things.)

Still, it was a pretty good era for animation. And I think it's getting back into an era like that, which is nice to see. For a while there, it was like they ran out of ideas for US series, so they'd just butcher some uninteresting anime (whatever they could get cheap), and throw out one or two other basic ideas that were worthless and unimaginative. Kids are often smarter than that, so I can't imagine just what they had to watch for quality weekend fodder. Not to mention how many networks had given up showing cartoons in the morning.

Off the top of my head it's hard to pick an absolute favourite. But among my top episodes are the two with the ninja Kyodi, the episode where Batman was on trial in Arkham, the episode where Harley almost killed Batman, the episode where Batgirl got thrown off a building, the episode where Batman fought Bruce Wayne, and of course the classic "Almost Got Him".

1. BATMAN

2. GARGOYLES

3. XMEN

4. SPIDERMAN

both batman and gargoyles had some fantastic writing and storytelling. xmen was pretty bold too...i mean all 4 were in similar in that regard but batman and gargoyles for me were the best!

my bestest ep i think is the one where batman gets hurt and those 2 kids take care of him while the penguin is looking for batman. damn its been soo long i wanna see em again!

the only storyline i didnt like in batman was the one with that actor who gets obsessive with his face and starts using that cream that messes him up.....

Well that is easy, my favorite episode would have to be Almost Got 'Em.

Its one of the few clips shows I like, sure its not really a clip show since its all new footage, but each villian's segment isn't too long.

I like the relationship with all the villians in the show.. Ivy and Two-Face going out (before turning super villians). They are like a group of friends... with the same goal.. but don't get along too welll.. Also the revelation about Croc was great.

Second favorite, either the debut of Clock King or the Riddler.

My favorite Bats episodes?

1. Heart of Ice

2. Mad As a Hatter

3. Purchance to Dream

4. Two Face pts 1 and 2

5. I Am the Night

What can I say? I love the Hatter.

I always loved the Mr. Freeze episodes. I'm a sucker for a tragic villian, I guess.

Me too, though I was a bit let down by the full-length movie that featured Freeze.

My favorite Bats episodes are usually the ones that feature 2nd-tier villains like Two Face, Clayface, Mad Hatter, and of course, Ra's Al Ghul.

They never really delve too deep into the psyche of Penguin, Joker, Catwoman, Ivy, or The Riddler. Which is kind of disappointing, but the Joker had some really great episodes to his credit(The Laughing Fish, The Man Who Killed Batman).

I love how Spiderman had him repeat what happened to Uncle Ben in about a dozen different episodes.... wait no, I hated that :lol

How is this even a fucking question? TAS

:lol That's what I thought last night when this topic came up in GA chat...Zeo said he feels the Spidey series is a lot better, and said he knew many that felt the same way. I pretty much knew Batman TAS would win this poll on the board, so someone threw this thread up.

Honestly, I don't even see how they compare, outside of them being based on two iconic comic characters...the contrast in styles, writing and concepts are night and day, and they're all in Batman's favour.

That's a tough one. Even with my Spiderman bias (big one here), I'd have to say Batman:TAS. Those Batman catroons stand as one of the best TV shows ever, animated or otherwise. Everything about them are absolutely brilliant even to this day.
