Come on. Not only does it not even look like it's trying to somewhat sorta attempt to match Bolland's art style (not quality or detail), it looks significantly cheaper than its most recent Batman DCAU predecessors.
This TKJ animated film looks worse than Young Justice, and that was a tv show.
Anyone whose watched the DC animated movies shouldn't be surprised. Some of the others were already borderline R.
i wasn't disagreeing with you or anything. i appreciate the response because i honestly didn't know
for me though, i have a high tolerance for QUALITY and i'm certainly not going to bat an eye at something i decide to watch on a whim
It's neat that they're adding more Barbara stuff so we feel for her when they show her get shot and sexually assaulted and then watch Batman and Joker have a moment after.Overrated comic gets 2edgy animated adaptation. Yippie-skippie.
Wake me when the next Titans movie hits, I was hoping for thatsince it was shelved all those years ago. Then again, knowing DC these days...Judas Contract movie
If only the art was alittle better.
How Flashpoint got away with a pg was a super mystery. This sounds more like it. It's a hard R story.
I think there adding more Barbara stuff so when the infamous scene happens she doesn't come off as a throwaway character. Personally I don't think it's gonna lessen the controversy. It is what it is.I hope they really tackle the whole story and don't change anything to soften the blow. Comic was famous for a reason, might as well do it justice.
Yeah I have no idea how this got a PG13 rating.
Why's that? Because that's what the film practically does to the original Bolland art.

Yeah I have no idea how this got a PG13 rating.
Every DC comic I can recall from that era would be a hard R if adapted even somewhat faithfully. All it takes is some senseless mayhem and a little sexual violence and it earns a R.
I think there adding more Barbara stuff so when the infamous scene happens she doesn't come off as a throwaway character.
I wonder how those "Batman should never be R rated" people will react here.
One of the most famous and revered Batman stories ever, from 30 years ago, faithfully retold - gets an R rating.
I recently watched Flashpoint Paradox and it got pretty graphic at times. What's in the Killing Joke to get a R rating if Flashpoint didn't?
BATMAN should never do R rated stuff.
HIS VILLAINS on the other hand .... lets just hope they reduce the sexual assault subtext
You know they won't. Hell, people still celebrate it to this day. :/
WW killed children in Flashpoint how was that PG-13?
I thought Joker didn't
But comics often are less "graphic" as static images. Animate any of these and you'd get a hard "R".
Doesn't mean I want that to be the "default" Superman... but every character has had really adult stories, with expertly drawn gore, done in comics (especially those good ol' edgy 90s versions...)
Superman is a fucking psycho, god damn.
The art comparisons remind me of some of Square Enix's Final Fantasy iOS ports.
BATMAN should never do R rated stuff.
It's never outright stated, but the implications/subtext has always been there.
It's not strongly implied. People read into that because of the nature of the imagery (Barbara stripped down) - but her nudity was functional for another reason: to drive Gordon insane.
You really think Gordon goes insane solely because of the imagery of his stripped daughter? Or because of what her nakedness in those photos implies?
Her being stripped at all suggests some sort of sexual aspect to her assault.
Anyone whose watched the DC animated movies shouldn't be surprised. Some of the others were already borderline R.
It's sexual by nature but it doesn't directly imply a rape occurred. .
How is The Killing Joke an origin story at all?
Well, it appears that we have a bunch of animation experts in this thread.
Some quality shitposting all over this bitch.
Are these recent animated movies good films? I'm not interested in reading comics, but I like Batman when done well in other forms.
Superman killing is kind of the whole premise for Injustice. Not sure I'd call the writer lazy.Well, two of those examples were Superboy Prime. The rest are just lazy writers making Superman kill because that's the only way they can understand him.
BATMAN should never do R rated stuff.
HIS VILLAINS on the other hand .... lets just hope they reduce the sexual assault subtext
I'm so happy they are finally doing a Batman and Doug crossover. Why's that? Because that's what the film practically does to the original Bolland art.

It's weird, I never picked up on the sexual assault stuff but it has been years since I last read it.
Why's that? Because that's what the film practically does to the original Bolland art.
