Battle of the sheer sexiness factor: PSP vs. iPod

FIGHT!

I go with PSP

well its too bad that iPod happens to be in the color hideous.

I think I would want a white PSP

I go with PSP, as well. With everyone and their kid sister running around with an iPod, I'm getting a little sick of seeing them. From a design standpoint, its still pretty good, though. However, the PSP has a LOT more to consider design-wise as a game machine than an mp3 player. The fact that it manages to be competent in all areas as a more complex product and ALSO be dead sexy seals the deal.

PSP it is.

The PSP eats the ipod alive IMO. Beyond the sleek shape the iPod give you nothing to glom onto.

The clear shoulder buttons on the PSP are drool worthy!

my industrial design educated opinion (not that it matters, or anyone gives a shyt) tells me to pick the white iPod....

but being a gamer at heart .... I wanna' rub my nipples with that PSP screen ...

I prefer the iPod. I didn't have a white 4G iPod to compare it with (and I think my U2 iPod is all sorts of sexy), so I just used that one. Still, the PSP looks cool too.

ipod is much cleaner looking than the psp, but they are totaly different machines! Whats the point of comparing them? The ipod will have a "cool" factor while the PSP will mostly have a "kiddie/geeky" factor to it, for a while at least! If you are gonna compare then you should be using the iphoto.

iPod due to clean simplistic design. The PSP... I don't know I think they could of implemented\placed the volume, start, select buttons etc a bit better.

Ha ha at the Gizmondo addition.

I'm incredibly biased towards anything videogames so naturally I have to give the PSP a nod. Plus that huge screen just screams beautiful.

iPod (white of course), PSP buttons look too cheap, iPod is sleeker. And I am a PSP fan, so leave my opinion and me the fuck alone.

Between those two, the PSP.
If the iPod was white, I'd go with the iPod.

Or maybe I'd go with the iPod anyway, there's more to be said in how the device feels and functions in your hands than in just how it looks in a picture.

why do i get the feeling that the PSP is going to be this households new Xbox?
I am not sure, but it'll be my car's new mp3/video player :lol much cheaper than buying a car dvd player.

"I am not sure, but it'll be my car's new mp3/video player much cheaper than buying a car dvd player."

yup - with the GPS adapter, surely the PSP could take the car navi market by storm?

The white iPod is sexier than anything ever constructed by man. I mean, it's just a touch wheel surrounding a button. That's it! With the PSP, there are a dozen buttons scattered all over the place, no symetry or anything.

Turned on, that's a different matter, considering you could have a movie playing on the PSP.

The iPod definitely. I don't know anything other gadget that has form and function coming together so beautifully. The PSP, as many have said, is too cluttered and button placements seem a bit arbitrary. The row of buttons below the screen can be better placed in my opinion. And I don't think playing a handheld can ever make you look sexy, whereas using an iPod does (at least it used to before it became so popular) and it works on both genders.

PSP

In fact, I have never liked Ipod, I like mimimalism for decorating, but not for a piece of hardware.

If someday Appe release a portable with PSP screen and entirely flat, I will go for that one. But until then I choose PSP.

psp is a mess compared to it
You know what, that's actually very valid. The PSP is waaaay too busy in the front. If the design simply had the main buttons and analog, the screen with the PSP logo right where it is, all the extraneous buttons removed, volume buttons and power LEDs allocated to the sides/top, and getting rid of all the useless text and icons; it would have benefited worlds. Of course I don't know a damn about hardware design so that's just an idea. The Ipod has a very sleek and simple consumer oriented look too it that is very hard to beat. Plus the intuitive controls really makes it remarkable.

I still say PSP because of my videogame bias (and the screen is awesome) but I wouldn't be suprised at all if the majority of people would think the Ipod sexier. In fact that'd probably be the wiser choice.

And why not the two?

iPod is fabulous for listening music.

Idem for PSP that is incredible for movies, images and games.

I have an iPod and I don´t want to change it for anything since I have 2100 songs in it, but for Images and Video PSP is the best choice.

This is not a comparison of what each unit is capable of but a comparison of overall "sexiness factor" between the two. Is it the big beautiful screen and the complicated interface of the PSP or the minimalist design and unique interface of the Ipod.

Summary: Which unit do you find most visually appealing.

No contest whatsoever. I love my iPod and all, but PSP shits all over it in terms of design.
Oh man, I know the PSP needs to have more buttons considering it has the DVD functions and all, but in terms of design? The iPod has 2 friggin buttons, perfectly symetrical from all angles! TWO!!

From the looks of that picture, the PSP has 16 on the face alone! There are tiny words plastered all over the unit, indentations everywhere.. it's just so cluttered. Hell, the GBA:SP design/casing is sexier than the PSP.

IAWTP

simplicity == sexy

for example you can have a beautiful woman with clothes (cluttered) or she can be naked (simple). ;)

Since we are comparing physical characteristics I do beleive size is also an important factor. Depending on what you beleive to be better (big or small) the disparity between the two is still quite large.

Ha ha Scrow, nice analogy. I've heard that a woman with skimpy clothes on (covering the most important parts) such as lingerie is supposed to be far sexier psychologically than a woman without anything.

True in my case.

i think a better comparison would be a women in a dress with ruffles and edged in lace versus another with a fitting strapless dress.

Personally, i prefer the 4G iPod over the PSP design. As others have said, the PSP is way too cluttered with a plethora of buttons on the bottom. i think a great deal of the appeal comes from the glossiness of it. Don't know why, but reflective surfaces (think chrome on cars and bikes) make almost any common object look better.

FWIW, design-wise, SP > PSP = DS.

PSP > all

No.

The way they did transparency on the face buttons seems cheap. I like the shoulders and the metalic parts :D best parts IMO. The grill bit didnt need to be there(too busy). Much of the buttons could have been on the outside. The system is wider than i expected. More than even the DS! Which is big compared to GBASP as it is.

Dont like the curvature on the left and right ends, would have been nicer if it was fully flat. Screws are on the sides. Yellow bit! why?

Plastic gets smudgy presumably due to super smooth plastic.

Overall its hot for a game device. Much nicer than DS IMO although thats not why i am buying the PSP over DS. I might skip both yet.

GBASP:

The most unique looking handheld console.
The smallest. The smartest.

Will win sales war too like PSOne did ;)
