more i play, more i would just prefer a BF3/BF4 remaster. and as it stands their servers are not up to task with 128 players

no small gametypes either! i sometimes enjoy just playing domination.. probably not with this games gunplay though tbf

its amazing how they ddint create a campaign and it seems to have not helped with anything in regards to having more/better content in MP, guess campaign side was totally independent so we just got a lesser game for no benefit to us

I would actually say this is better then what a remaster would have likely been.

If they did do one like a normal remaster, I'm sure many might disagree with some new thing like controls or ttk or something, with this we can control that with Portal. In terms of smaller game types, I'm not really sure what they have planned as I'm sure they just keep adding stuff over time, I know Portal has a few of the older game options, but I'm not sure how much tbh.

I'm 100% ok with skipping the campaign as I never really played them and I'd rather see that money put into DICE LA doing Portal instead, so losing SP and gaining Portal is win, I'd rather have this then a mode I was just never going to play anyway. Looking at how the community behaves on what they believe is BF or not, it tells me Portal makes more sense then a BF remaster. I don't see them doing a remaster and the community just be ok with all that they did. They'd cry about speed, cry about TTK, cry about so much that Portal seems to make much more sense then a remaster and the community can just decide for themselves what rules they want, features they want etc

the scoreboard, the minimap, the deployment screen, the audio, the guns, the classes, the whole UI

guess im going back to bf4 lol EA play saved me a bunch!

lol doesn't EA Play users get the game for free?

A lot of it sounds like it will get patched over the next few months, weeks etc, funny enough just like how BF4 was at launch lol ,but shit I'm playing BF4 now too. Hardcore servers are still alive and have a small dedicated community. I'll probably go spend most of my time on Portal and go back to BF4 as the game continues to update as thats what I did with BF4 and just played BF3 as BF4s launch issues got sorted out.

Has anyone played the 2042 maps in Portal using any of those custom rules or is that only for those older maps?

It’s a dumpster fire. Bad Company 2 - Battlefield 4 are peak Battlefield.

usually i prefer to build my own opinion instead of reading some reddit bandwagonin concern/complain

I respect yours, though I do not agree with it

is my disagreement raising up more concern/complain for you? :)

(...I hope it does, because your complain chain is fun to play with)

please come complain also in the Halo threads

we strongly need your opinions there

Why would I spend time complaining about a game series I've barely played in the last 10 years and has just launched in an entirely acceptable state with an incredibly small amount of issues?

Meanwhile, the series I play most has released as an absolute shitshow because people like you keep rushing to the defence of fucking EA of all publishers.
Yet myself and countless others have ran into no issues like this.
Yea, no.

You're either blind or haven't played the game for 5 minutes to have not seen any of the almost countless flaws it has.

problem is not the state BF2042 launched

get a life lol

Don't really know if it's me, but I just cannot get to fucking grips with 2042. I'm an OG 1942 player onwards and whether it's the massive wide open spaces, the 128 player count or the randomness of the bullets - I just cannot seem to get a decent run going. Literally move about 15 metres or pop 2 shots off and your head gets taken off instantly.. And yeah PC performance needs a serious fucking amount of optimization. You can feel the rubberbanding like a mofo when driving vehicles.

As soon as I play portal, it's a different story.

Anyone else finding the base game overly chaotic and frustrating currently?

Yes, 2042 is frustrating to say the least. It’s straight up bad. It’s a shame portal doesn’t have more content because it would almost be worth getting if it did.

Well I am looking forward, I have purchased 3 copies, two for PC (Son and I) and PS5, I loved the beta so as long as it improves from that I am happy. Been playing BF for decades and every release is the same but after 3 months ish they sort the issues, BF4 was terrible for months and yet people regard it as one of the best.

I guess I will find out in 3 days

I guess people forgot how bugged were all BF games since 3 at launch.

Not sure if I'm getting it right away but I liked what I've seen so far.

I've played for 50h so far, so definitely not unplayable, lol. Know the meaning of the word first.

You playing it right now? Im not saying the game as a whole is unplayable but it IS unplayable right now because of the awful rubberbanding everywhere.

Honest question.. Do you think they have some sort of gas leek in their office?

I mean they are so egoistic and don't admit they fuckd up so i thought maybe gas leek or something is affecting them.

Their UI designer Nathalie Ek is even proud of her's UI design in BF2042. I mean wtf, how?? I'm sorry for being rude but person who design this UI shouldn't even be working in AAA company. Nothing wrong with making mistakes but at least admit it

Are you referring to her tweet stating she is proud of the finished UI that was before the open beta and feedback?

yeah the UI is awful. Even the main menu feels so cheap. The art, the audio, everything. Im playing HALO right now and the UI there is minimalistic and slick looking

Its not about forgetting how it was before...its about Dice not learning from the past.

I see. I just thought it was forgotten because I've seen many messages about BF4 being the best and it probably is but after many years of fixing and development.

The same will probably will happen with this one. I don't see a problem with waiting until then.

Is there a rush mode on 128 player servers? That would probably be pretty amazing because the front would be concentrated. Though now it comes to mind that the reason the maps are so huge is to split players up for performance reasons. This 128 player experiment may be a few years too early.

I think the UI is better than BFV, especially the main menu (which still doesn't work properly). Although a simpler style like BF3 and 4 would be better overall.

Rush with 128 players is currently Portal only, but Breakthrough is essentially the same thing. Personally think Rush with its specific objectives works better with smaller player count, while Breakthrough with larger objective zones works fine for larger player counts.

Rush on BC2 Arica Harbour and Valparaiso are fantastic to play.

Halo is infinitely more polished than this game. After so many buggy BF releases we have a right to complain. Glad I learned my lesson and did not buy BF at launch. I will probably give it another shot next year. The last two stable BF games I can think of were BC2 and BF1.

Played it for about 1+ hours yesterday on the EA Play Trial. Only conquest and I had fun but the game can easily be frustrating. Accuracy just feels inconsistent, UI is confusing, and overall ease of use of the UI is at an all time low. The core gameplay experience of it being battlefield remains strong. The game makes it hard to differentiate between friend and foe. Especially this one bug where allies don't have indicators around them and it makes it feel like they are the enemy. I waste ammo on them and reveal my position to nearby enemies. Also the fact that there are different factions despite every having the same characters just seems dumb. Yeah vehicles I guess are the only differentiator but meh. The maps are cool so far though. Level grind is slow... just like the previous titles.

the end of round screen, ruined Portal for u?
not the minimap, map or UI/HUD? I mean even those things aren't enough to ruin it...but end of round u can just like...closed ur eyes lol
Dude I really, REALLY like authenticity of a setting and immersion in my games. Not even specifically realism, authenticity (so arguments like "well go play ARMA then are not gonna help"). So when after a bloody battle my Russian team members come out and start popping emotes with incredibly obnoxious cringy and immersion breaking one liners (in weird voices without opening their mouths) I'm getting very upset. I was expecting that at least in Portal we're gonna be spared that cringe. And I'm very disappointed.
Besides, DICE themselves spent 6 month telling us how apocalyptic and depressing the world of 2042 is, what a war for survival it is, etc. And then put the "Yoo-Hoo lets do it again fellas!" Apex/Fornite cringe into it...

Just look at this shit:

Mate battlefield 4 was a fucking shit show compared to this. I had to restart the campaign 3 times because it kept wiping my save file near the end.

The Multiplayer was a laggy disaster for the first 12 months, and it constantly crashed altogether. Half the menu didn't even work properly either.

Don't compared bf4 after about 3 years of constant fixes to this day 1 because it's not a fair match up.

It's true. It still wipes the save file if you ever start playing multiplayer to this day. I downloaded last month on my PS4 with my original save file and the campaign was completely wiped out. I had to beat BF4 6 times just to platinum it at the time. It was definitely the most bugged game I'v played back then. BF 2042 launch is smooth as butter compared to that, the only problem being some design decisions which may or may not be changed.

Just from a small perspective of watching people play I cant get over the fact that 2 of the 3 shooters look like they are all built around assets from the Unreal Engine asset store.

yeah i bought ea play for the 10 hour trial. i hate how some fucking devs dont learn from their mistakes and STILL manage to ship out a broken mess. seems like a new normal right? release it shitty and then fix it later on but ay thanks for the money bitches lol

portal is actually fun though. without the stupid specialist and everyone running around twice the speed. feels like playing a remake of the old games. its still quite early though for portal. havent really seen anyone making customs modes for 2042 other than raising up the ticket score or have one team bots and one team real players (they're naming them xp lobbies because the AI is dumb and easy to kill lol)

i do feel bad for the ones who spent 100+ to get early access, god give them strength

I played a few more matches last night. It was fun but far from what it should be on release day. Its falling in line with the last 2 BF games. I think it will find its stride in 6 months after a few updates.

So almost 20 hours into the game. Most maps the game seems to choose are just bad. Hourglass and Breakaway are bad IMO. Manifest isn't fun either given most people just snipe in the cargo area.
