Battlefield 4 PC performance thread

Just played at work...

i7 950 at 3.07 GHz
12 gig ram
Win 7
680

not bad at all! I was able to play ultra at a decent framerate. Went with auto for a smoother experience. Not as smooth as Bf3 but definitely playable. So if you have older system a gpu upgrade can really hold you off until you feel like upgrading your MB/CPU.

Cant wait to get home and play with my gaming rig :D

Anyone with Titan's what are you getting for 4K?

2x Titan
i7-3820 @4.2GHz.
16GB

I want 60fps at 4K....dreaming? Thinking of buying a 4930K.

I'm getting a smooth framerate that gets heavy stutter whenever I turn around or am on a busier map in multiplayer. I've currently got it set at Ultra at 1920x1200.

I'm assuming this is a RAM issue so what options aside from texture quality may be helpful in toning down?

Specs:

GTX 570 1280 RAM
Intel Core i5-2500K CPU @ 3.30Ghz
4 GB DDR3 RAM

Hmm ram and video card are holding you back. Cpu ain't too hot either :)

Anyone have this happen to them yet?

Also, how the fuck do you bring up the binoculars in SP?

Had the exact same thing in BF3. Believe it or not, the cause was an overclocked videocard (GTX460). Even the slightest overclock would make me crash a handful of minutes into the game, only stock speeds worked. I don't get it at all but after 150h+ I can safely say that was the reason in my case. Once again, BF3/BF4 are the only games I've ever had issues like that with.

Regarding the BF4 freezes + audio stutter crashes: I tried out checking off the "exclusive access" in they audio device settings and somehow I played crashfree for 5 hours. Then suddenly it started happening again and now I got 3 in 5 mins. Pulling my hair out.

this is why I refuse to go over 1080p right now

i dont want to know if life is greener

resolutions the sort of thing that's hard to walk away from once you get a taste of it

i7 2600K @4.5GHz
8GB RAM
EVGA GTX670 FTW
1920x1200

Maintaining 60 FPS nearly all the time, no issues whatsoever. Max settings, however, no motion blur.

Afterburner doesn't work with 64-bit clients. Works with the 32-bit one.

Yup, and the dude behind those products (RivaTuner) doesn't want to support 64-bit, yet...I guess it's too much work.

So, in the meantime, use FRAPS or even better, from the BF4 console (~ to access) type "perfoverlay.drawfps 1" without the quotes. Bam.

well shit it looks like my issues are entirely dependant on the map

was able to play 2 matches with everything on Ultra just fine, one never even dropped from 60 once

then new map boom 38-40fps

sucks, let me set up a map specific profile or something dang

i7 3930k 3.2GHz
2x GTX 680
16GB RAM
2560x1440

Had some graphical glitching until I updated to the driver just released yesterday. Runs like a dream at a solid 60 with everything maxed except for the AA

Interesting. I was getting terrible performance stuttering before I locked the frame rate at 60 with RivaTuner, yet I'm running BF in 64 bit mode. Is that because I'm not using Afterburner to control the application, but the the GPU itself instead?

Ah, thanks for the info. I'm guessing that D3DOverider doesn't work either? I was getting a little tearing last night until I turned on the in game V-Sync.

Had this happen to me yesterday even after clean driver installs. I uninstalled Nvidia Geforce experience and it stoped happening. Type dxdiag into the search in windows taskbar. I kept getting directx sound issues when I ran the self check.

Oh wow, seems this is the first pc game where my rig is below the recommended specs. I'm running a 7850 here.

man yeah performance just seems erratic

there's particular spots in maps where I turn everything to Low and it still chugs

then in some other similarly busy place I get constant 60 with everything on Ultra

idk

i5 2500K @ 3.6GHz (stock cooler, don't make fun)
EVGA GTX760 4GB
8GB DDR3
1920x1080 (have 3-monitor setup but haven't tried it in BF4 yet)

I'm pretty sure I'm at Max settings, but I'll have to double check when I get home...I'm at 73-80fps average in multiplayer. Still hangs there even with Nvidia's new "Shadow Play" recording feature which is nice! Fraps dropped me below 60 which I didn't like.

GPU memory usage only at around 1.6-1.7GB, hopefully the 4GB will come in handy when I go 5760x1080. GPU usage was never near max either, according to a Microsoft monitoring tool. I think my CPU was around 70-80% whenever I looked.

I had loading issues in the beta. I would be the last person to join and all the capture points would be taken by the time I was in the match. I haven't had this issue with the retail version, if that was the issue you are talking about.

Yea and that is great to hear!

God this game is so beautiful.
i5 4670, Sapphire 7970 OC to 1150 MHZ everything maxed at 1080p with vsynch holding the 60 pretty well with some occasional drops during the first level and a HUGE drop at the fountain in the second level.

Pretty solid work PC there :P

My PC keeps restarting automatically right when the map is finished loading and I'm about to enter the game. Has anyone heard of or dealt with this?

W7 32 bit
Intel i32120
Radeon HD 7700
4GB RAM

I've updated PB, graphics drivers, Windows, and BF4.

Glad you jumped into the PC game, AMD brofist

kinda bummed mayne, 680 letting me down

it wasnt time to upgrade yet, you were the chosen one ;_;

Hmmm, getting a lot of contradicting posts.

Some guy says the game runs great on his 670 (which I have) and then I see your posts and just get depressed.

You are not running 4x MSAA or something along those lines by any chance ?

I'm running a 680 myself (asus direct cu top) and it runs very well at 1080p/ultra. There are some drops into the 30's but they are very infrequent and it usually hovers above 60 fps. Cranking up the MSAA to 4 hits the card very hard though, have to run at 2.

Edit - This is with an oc'd 3770k though so mileage may vary.

I have things maxed @ 1080p with:

i5 2500k @ 4.2
8GB Ram
760GTX 2GB @ 1150

Really happy with my 760 purchase; makes me reminiscent of my 4200 ti price performance.

the contradictions are basically just differences in what people find tolerable. I want constant 60fps on multiplayer and I aint getting it.

right now im running this:

2040x1152
everything on Ultra but no AO
2xMSAA

It's entirely dependant on the map. The game can run at a constant 60 as much as it drops, but it drops, and I find it annoying. Not just to low 50s but also to 30-something, etc.

What's weird is that changing the settings barely gives me a 5-10fps win on those same drops, so yeah thats why I stick with Ultra, cause High looks quite a bit worse and runs almost the same.

hopefully drivers and game updates iron it out

Is the game jittery for anyone else?

My FPS is fine, but the game seems to have an inherent jitter associated with motion. Character animations are jerky, camera movements are jittery, and the cutscenes are choppy.

I can only play the game for so long before my eyes get sore and I get a headache.

I had the same problem with Bf3 and using MSI Afterburner resolved the issue, but as BF4 has a 64 bit exe I no longer have that luxury.

Yeah an i5 750 @ 4GHz is just not cutting it for this game. Its constantly at 100% load on all cores. Wonder if there is anyway to cut down on the cpu load with this game.

Try Adaptive V-sync in the NCP.

I guess so.

On a GTX 670, I was getting 60fps with occasional drops to ~45 when running towards the C flag after the building collapsed and dust was everywhere during the beta.

I would say turn MSAA completely off and see if that helps, its cost:result ratio is not worth it in the Frostbite engine unless you have the horse power to remain 60fps+ at all times.

windows 7 64bit
i5-2500k OC'd
hd 6950 unlocked to 6970 and OC'd to 6970 speed

1080p, 2xMSaa, medium everything, low post processing and HBSAO (the lower one)

runs as well as bf3 with high/ultra settings...game looks good =) I'm happy, don't need everything maxed out.
