Battlefield 6 Beta |OT| Open Beta/Closed Weapons.

Played 2042 for a couple hours and probably gonna uninstall it before i get those bf6 rewards, we'll see tho. Iwo Jima is a pretty cool map but breakthrough final point is retarded. Gunplay is pretty mediocre and gameplay is pretty miserable. Performance also shockingly wasn't as good as bf6 at least for me. I was getting some stutters here and there. Movement also felt floaty. Gunplay, movement, graphics, and aesthetics are night and day compared to bf6. It's gonna be a long wait until bf6. Maybe I'll go hit up some of my single player backlog in the mean time.
Well 4 years of updates and changes has alot to do with that.

What are the chances that I'll be able to simply paste in the data from my user settings in the beta, over to the final game? I forgot to make a note of my sensitivity sliders and I'm a bit pissed off about having to find that sweetspot again.
Documents > Battlefield 6 open beta > settings > PROFSave_profile

The system has worked much the same across all recent battlefield games so it'll likely carry over. Usually if a line is missing or redundant it'll auto populate/ignore the line.

Has auto spotting always been part of this game? They really need to work on that aspect and visibility in general, otherwise the game has potential

Did the beta have a user config file that you can open? Might have those sorts of values stored in there to reference when you install the full game.

Yeah it's all there, but the list is absolutely massive and not immediately clear what does what. It'd require a fine tooth comb-like browse over 'em all, which is why I'm hoping to be able to just paste over everything instead 🙏

nope, bf4 had an attachment to do just this, but was limited to carbines/DMR/snipers

otherwise its always been manual spotting

i have my suspictions as to why it was in the beta, and i hope its removed, because its straight dumb to be in the game.

i get the recon has this as perk, but imo should be limited to only work with sniper rifles, not all guns on the recon

Just think there are people in this thread that said BF6 was just 2042 with better destruction.

So fucking hard to play.
BF6 feels leagues better than 2042. I downloaded it yesterday to scratch the itch left behind by the beta and it's rough. Before the beta I haven't played a BF game since BF1.

Part of me feels like the rest of the launch maps for BF6 are going to be completely lackluster.

Fucking hell Dice, just bring over the new version of Iwo Jima you just made for 2042. Have a team specifically just remaking some BC2, BF3, and BF4 maps.

I agree. We've already played half the maps, and they were all mid. Straight up bad compared to GOAT Iwo Jima or Caspian. I don't see them making up the difference with the remaining maps, other than Firestorm.

bringing that map to 2042 instead of BF6 was a waste of resource

So, could be 30 million playing 2042 and 2 playing 1 and V on gamepass. Steam numbers only means nothing.

Fancy writing for Forbes?

You really have their angle covered.

2042 has improved a lot since launch. People are missing out if they can try it but don't.

Also BF6 Beta is pretty much the opposite from 2042. Hating both makes no sense to me (And I'm seeing that a lot on Reddit).

I stopped going to the BF reddit. Its a place for people who never satisfied with anything in their lives

I've enjoyed 2042 for several years now and also enjoyed the BF6 beta. I've enjoyed every BF title except maybe Play4Free and Heroes.

To me every single title has had good and bad, but it's also why I enjoy playing older titles from time to time.

And yes the Battlefield subreddit is terrible for the most part.

So BF2042 is sale on pretty much everywhere for $3. Yes its flawed and might feel jarringly different especially if you recently played the BF6 beta, but its definitely worth it at that price.

Might be a bargain but the real question is whether or not it's worth my time. I don't think it is.

That $3 sale is unsurprisingly causing 2042 to rise up the Steam Top Sellers chart :messenger_grinning_smiling:

Gotta hand it to EA, the battle pass and sale right on the heels of the BF6 beta is actually a genius way to finally get some people to give 2042 another shot since they rehauled maps and the class system. I wasn't interested in giving 2042 another chance at all but the BF6 beta got me in the mood for bigger Battlefield battles, and my short time with 2042 has delivered on that front.

That describes most subreddits
Or a lot of posters here honestly, lmao.

Yeah, I hopped into 2042 last night to try and unlock some of the BF6 items. Just played the Iwo Jima map, and I had more fun than I thought I would. I'm excited about BF6, but I hope they continue to lean into what makes Battlefield, Battlefield.

Reinstalled BF4 (for console) and its still fun. The wide open maps are such of huge difference from the crampfests in BF6.
BF6's are trash tier map design which just might be that game's achilles heel.
Console BF4 is so ugly though - its rough. I really wish BF4 got some kinda of next gen remaster/upgrade - wont ever happen though.

Hell I also wish they would have just ported the PC versions of BF2 and 3 to modern consoles.
Those would be infinitely replayable.

I feel the same. According to EA I've played 282 hours of 2042 but I understand why people didn't like it at the beginning.

Ideally BF6 would have it's own identity. I liked what I've seen so far.

The only BF titles I didn't play were Vietnam, Heroes, 2142 and Hardline.

im surprised they didn't put all the games on sale on steam. i mean i get that 2042 has the bf6 stuff but the weekly xbox sale has all the bf games on their 90% off sale. strange. i think i saw someone say psn has (some of) them on sale too. if someone doesn't want to play 2042, they shouldve still enticed players to buy bf1/4/5 instead of something else like CoD.

I'm still convinced most of GAF doesn't actually like video games.
Yeaaaah, lol. I mean, to each their own and all. But it really does feel like some people just want to hate to hate, or they're just so overly harsh IMO. It just feels miserable and exhausting.

I get a lot people only liking the bigger maps, but I really enjoy the variety 6 is going for. Playing the Iwa Jima 2042 map is just getting me ecstatic how good the large maps will play in 6

Also, dozens of maps will be added over the years. So many people are overreacting. The foundation of 6 is so strong

Fuck it, 2042 for $4.51, I'm jumping in to hold me over till BF6. Only played 2042 before launch, so will be interesting to see what they've done.

Yeah 2042 is a very different game from launch, I've jumped back in and it's night and day from what I played originally.

I've played a few games of 2042 today. I'm kinda getting the feel of it now but 6 is still leagues better. The weapon customization and UI in 2042 is awful.

What stuck out to me was the lack of a training range like in BF4. Didn't get around to really playing the helos in the BF6 beta... one map, seems like air vehicles were a struggle bus anyway, and I got roped into the "do all challenges for rewards" hype, which didn't involve air vehicles at all. Solo Conquest had ridiculous respawn timers... I'm sure there was something I could cook up with Portal but I just went into BF4 test range to try to work on my binds. I have a feeling my brain completely unlearned my flying style from BF4 and Hardline... I found myself starting to gravitate towards both hands on keyboard with quick right hand move over to mouse for fine aiming (yaw+pitch)... I might be going crazy in my old age. Outside of using ReWASD I'm not sure if there would be any way to work my HOTAS/pedals into the game and ReWASD is apparently shut down by the anti-cheat, lmao.

One thing is for sure, I'm going to lock in a setup and get a few hours of practice in before launch as I really don't want to fall behind on the leveling and unlocks. It's always a bad time catching up with the default air vehicles.
The weapon customization and UI in 2042 is awful.
UI in BF2042 was an eyesore, but then again, I don't like the BF6 UI either. Ever since "UX designer" became a job title we've gotten these kind of wacky interfaces with hieroglyphics where words would serve better. The low frame rate for the minimap was also shockingly distracting. Seems like in BF6 it renders once per frame... older BF titles apparently not so much.

So I'm messing with the class and weapon options in 2042, and you can switch to classes from BF3 BC2 and 1942 and use those weapons? How does this work? Is that balanced?
