Be honest, how many lf you are fighting a stripped PS5 M.2 SSD slot screw right now?

I'm good. It's not a screw that needs to be super tight to start with. I used to slightly over tighten HDD screws because vibration could loosen them but that's not as much of a problem with SSD. Last time I had a stripped M.2 screw I used pliers to grip the head and twisted it loose.

Wow that's nasty. Is that screw made of the cheapest metal ever or did you use the wrong size screwdriver? I've actually had luck using a drop of epoxy (or super glue may work) and gluing the driver to the screw with some of these small electronic screws.

That M.2 screw might be one of the worst things I've ever had to deal with, glad to see mobo manufacturers are doing away with it now.

Thanks for reminding me to put mine into my new pro before I finished setting it up (including the all-awkward plugging in and cables behind tv)!

You used the wrong size screw driver, that's how you stripped it. You can try using a bigger screwdriver, you'll have to tap it in so jam it in there, id use a flat head. Could try cutting a slot for a flat head if you got some sort of file or dremel. Heating it up with a hair dryer would help loosen it up too.

Heating up the screw or the flat head?

Yeah. I wonder if you could put a little super glue mixed with flour in the screw hole and let it dry and screw it in.

It might be too tough. You need something to catch in the screw hole.

Why would you tighten it to that point?
Why, after starting to strip it, did you keep going?
After starting to strip it, did you not realize you had the wrong size driver or bit?
I genuinely don't understand how this happens to people

It seemed to have already been stripped from when i had put it in many years ago. No clue why i had it in so tightly. I will never make a mistake like this again that's for sure! 😁

Yeah. Needle nose pliers will work if this screw is not really tight.

It is a wise idea to not screw it in real tight.

Get a slightly oversized flat screwdriver, use some pressure, if not ur confident, u might mess it up more, take it to repair shop maybe.

Millions of people screw m.2 drives into motherboards all the time just fine. This is 100% user error. Right tool for the job is important.
