I believe you are missing some important facts. Nintendogs will only be on sale for 4-6 days of the August NPD report, and September is a 5-week month.

The 125K seems reasonable for August, but with more than 5 times the number of days on the market in September + the DS price drop, Nintendogs should not see a decrease in September. Rather, it should have a sizeable increase in September.
I think another thing that will help Nintendogs in September is word of mouth. I can see people playing it and showing others and then telling them that they can get a DS with Nintendogs for $160 US.

This isnt Japan, i dont see Nintendogs selling so well. You know when the DS "big" titles like Kirby and meteos are doing sub 50,000 something is wrong. Look at the thread that has LTD for PSP and NDS titles. PSP titles always start strong, but many DS titles have started sub 10,000 units, a disaster.

And yeah, September is 5 weeks, which is why i dont see it dropping off TOO fast.

Just found something out. Apparently more people have read my Tales of Rebirth FAQ on RPGFan (15,173) than have bought Arc the Lad: End of Darkness (13,668.) More evidence that it would've sold ALOT better than the game we got instead of it. :lol

Your mistake is assuming that Kirby and Meteos are underachieving. Kirby already has nearly 130,000 units sold. That's pretty darn good for a month and a half. And really, what evidence do you have that Nintendogs won't be selling so well. Anything? I didn't think so.

For the love of God, NIS AMERICA, please!

Thanks Bunkum, and sonycowboy! :D

As for NISAmerica, how 'bout Makai Kingdom?

Also, any possible way to get the sales figures for Atelier Iris in June, too?

Meteos IS underachieving, look at how Lumines on a platform with a smaller user base.

And of course I dont have evidence, its called a prediction. I cant prove it until it happens.

And thanks Sonycowboy for that excellent list of top 50 games by unit. It hurts to see some GBA games in there, like the Princess game.

As typhon said, it was a launch title. Lumines didn't have anything like Mario 64 hogging up all the sales. Seriously, was anyone actually predicting Meteos to be more successful than any other highly anticipated puzzle game not called Tetris?

No publicly reported HW numbers other than the percentage numbers for the consoles as of yet. Too bad, it would be fun.

Too bad indeed,I hope the July hardware numbers won't be lost.

Pretty nice numbers for Atelier Iris. It even beat Makai Kingdom in their respective first month(week). Surely they'll do the sequel now, even though it sucks.

Any bets where RE 4 GC will end up when all is said and done? If it gets a nice bump at christmas it could pass 700k this year and perhaps end up at about 800k. What do you think?

This topic is dead my friend. But I might aswell put an answer in.

I think the price drop will help this game out a ton. Then by the end of the Gamecubes life. Which I say is right after I beat TP. That it could end up around 850,000. Probably around 750k by the end of this year.

How many copies sold does a game like Atelier Iris need to be considered moderately successful?

I've been pimping this game to lots of people like no tomorrow, cute little unpretentious game.

Also does anybody have the LTD for Shadow Hearts:Covenant? Or how about the other N1 games - La Pucelle Tactics, Disgaea, and Phantom Brave? I'm just curious how more obscure RPGs sell... Nice to see SO3 do well btw even though it's a shadow of its amazing prequel.

I was wondering the same thing. Hopefully it sold enough to warrant bringing the sequel here. :)

I really don't want to say that it will definitely sell like billions( ;) ) of units, but just look at amazon.com and see how it performs(right now it is at positions 8, 19 and 37!). Of course that's only a small sign, but it is a sign(and than of course look at this Wedbush Review thing where they said that Madden NFL and Nintendogs are gonna drive the sales of August).

Make that 7, 9, & 20... :D

Nearly 40,000 copies in two months (one of those months being two days) is quuittee good, my friend. And that's for most games -- this game, it's quite remarkable, I think.

Covenant, more or less, is in the 65,000-75,000 range. Considering the expense and advertisment (AND from what company it's from), it's not nearly as good as AI, especially since it went down in price to $20 around it hitting 35,000 after four months.

I have no idea with the N1 titles, excpet that, obviously, Disgaea sold the most of those. I'd like to hear an LTD for those titles as well, and SO3 too.

EDIT: Also, Covenant is one of the better RPGs in a long, long time; it deserves higher sales than that, in every regard.

Question, does anybody here have the cumulative Harvest Moon sales data? I want to see if my theory is right about Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life being the best selling Harvest Moon thus far.

Harvest Moon I believe was around 400,000 during the March NPD. So I would say it is at 450,000 which would put it as the best selling Harvest Moon of all time.

Is CSFB's report still coming out?

In case it has been put out, and we're just not going to get the numbers from it ...

You know, there's a perfectly good prediction thread with perfectly good predicted hardware sales in it. Might it be possible to know who was closest? :)

I tried to make a chart for the DS soft- and hardware, but my software LTD is about 6k lower than it should be. Feel free to correct the numbers (and perhaps you could add the exact hw numbers if available and the number for July ^^).
