On the more controversial side of the discussion is the theory that the rise in gender dysphoria comes not from it being more socially acceptable to be transgender, but as you said from it becoming an acceptable way for people to deal with being gay or feel like an outcast. That the anger and lashing out against people who question it is a form of self-defense against themselves because they struggle to deal with society.

That may be complete bullshit, but the backlash against anyone questioning gender theories and the hardline-aggressive viewpoint of supporters is way out of line. Random nobodies on Twitter get personally insulted about anyone potentially hurting someone's feelings on gender. And it's been bleeding over into society. Over here, you can kick someone in the head and hit them on the ground and get away with it, but say the wrong word on a Facebook timeline and you get jail and need to pay the victim. You can sell drugs at school and run in a gang and be better off than even mentioning gender theories in a university.

I agree 100%.

Social media has made gender swapping a popular topic. So might as well try it if they are that lonely. Typically, for social outcasts doing weird things it's hardly ever your usual good looking straight laced person with a decent job. It's often someone who is odd looking or has mannerisms that are strange. Or has some low end job (at best a mid level job).

Whether it's family, friend, work or school it doesn't matter if it's a guy or girl. The chances of that good looking and dressed person who everyone wants to talk to or go out to lunch with probably has a 0.01% of being gender confused, gender swapping, pink hair, nose ring etc... Chances are super low they are even gay, lesbian or bi. They'll just be 99% likelihood straight.
