Best Capcom Game?

Phoniex Wright: Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations

Such a fantastic game. A great ending to the original trilogy, with one of the most iconic villains in gaming, and a tremendous conclusion. Not to mention the god-tier soundtrack.

It's Street Fighter 2 without contest. It's one of the most important video games of all time in general. And that's saying a lot since Capcom has developed some of the most enduring franchises ever, only really topped by Nintendo.

latest

Darkstalkers 3, it's objectively their best fighting game and the natural evolution from the systems put in place by Street Fighter II.

In reality it is Mega Man X but Darkstalkers needs more love.

My personal list:

1. Super Street Fighter II Turbo
2. Ultra Street Fighter 4
3. Resident Evil
4. Ghost'n'Goblins
5. Mega Man 2

I've actually noticed quite a few games I should really play some day. And I'm even more looking forward to DD:DA on PC.

Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations. It's one of my top 5 favourite games of all time. Fantastic end to a great trilogy with a god-tier soundtrack. Devil May Cry 3 and Ghost Trick would be tied for second for me.

Nes or arcade. They are very different. To me the nes version is better in every way except graphics
I like both but I always thought the store option in the NES game was pretty weak with limited ammo options. But buying the horse or Wanted poster was pretty handy.

I like many of Capcom's offerings but I'm partial to the original "Vertical" 3: Gun.Smoke, 1942 and Commando. Love the arcade and NES versions. NES may be more nostalgia than anything else. I play the arcade versions on the Capcom Cabinet on the 360.

There are plenty of good ones but Trials and Tribulations is the clear standout for me. It's the pinnacle of the series and almost the pinnacle of the genre too.

Resident Evil 4. The best shooter, and one of the best examples of how to do game design in general. So meticulously planned and satisfyingly executed. Constantly giving you new challenges using the same basic mechanics.

Honorable mention to Ace Attorney Investigations 2.

I don't understand why people hate Capcom, looking at this thread they made so many good games.

Ontopic: Resident Evil 2
People don't like current Capcom, I believe. Their legacy and catalog are monumental.

I also have to say their beat'em up offerings are truly tops. Been playing the Dungeons and Dragons combo on the 360 and it has been sublime. Capcom has such a great track record with the genre.

They make bad decisions, and they make more bad games than good games after the PS2 gen.

Personally I hate the way they handle the Monster Hunter franchise. It deserves so much better.

The diversity in responses is pretty amazing. Only comparable dev/pub is Sega imo.

Yeah Sega is perhaps the only other company that the choice for me is this impossible. So many different incomparable genres makes this a struggle. Its hard enough to pick my fave Capcom fighter or Resident Evil game. Never mind deciding which of those comes out on top.

Nrrrrrrrrggggg I guess Resident Evil 1/ REmake. I could make a long list though with many fighters, some beat-em-ups, several REs, Dino Crisis, Viewtiful Joe, Phoenix Wright, God Hand, Dragon's Dogma etc.

My personal top 10, in somewhat of an order:

Super Street Fighter IV
Resident Evil 4
Mega Man 2
Ghost Trick
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Super Street Fighter II Turbo
Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo
Asura's Wrath
Killer7
Viewtiful Joe

There is too many I love.

Devil May Cry 3 for starters. My favourite DMC game. The gameplay is great, the story is the right amount campness and coolness. Vergil is great. The Vergil rival fights are probably in my opinion the best rival fights in any game.
God Hand. It is so goofy, the gameplay is amazing and I love the general campness of the game. It is glorious and is the one game I really wish we got more of.
Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. Because so much content, so much fun. But I dunno if I'd call it the best Capcom game. But everyone should play it.

It really is a toss up between those 3.

Though fighting games are a completely different beast.
3rd Strike.

They've made dozens of games that I've enjoyed. My favourites are probably:

Megaman 3
Megaman X
Street Fighter 2 Turbo
Maximo: Ghosts to Glory
Maximo: Army of Zin
Phoenix Wright
Monster Hunter Tri
Ghost Trick
Dragon's Dogma
Monster Hunter 4U

If I had to pick one it would be MH4U or Megaman X. While I wasn't a fan of the last few Resident Evil and DMC games, they've still turned out good games in every generation, particularly on the DS/3DS.

Street Fighter 3 Third Strike
Mega Man X
Resident Evil 4

It's literally impossible for me to choose between those three so I have to say all of them. They're all just the absolute master classes of game design for their respective genre's. Capcom has some of the best IP's of all time, here's hoping we see them used in awesome ways in the future. God I want Megaman X to come back so bad, and I really want the next Resident Evil to play somewhat similar to Revelations 2 or RE 4, but I think it's time to dump the forced co-op shit. Let's get back to a structured, well designed, single player Resident Evil. Gimme gimme.

It's not so bad, if Dragon Quest XI can have both handheld and console version to take advantage of the different targeted audience in both regions, MH stood a small chance to follow too in future.

So many great games but Street Fighter II was just ridiculous when it came out. I mean, what were fighting games before that? Yie Ar Kung Fu? IK+? Street Fighter 1?

It didn't feel to me like SFII was the end result of years of refinement, it felt like a perfect game which just hit out of nowhere; so much more accomplished and advanced than anything else around at the time it might as well have been built on secret alien designs or something.

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations

Nothing from Capcom really comes close to Ace Attorney for me. The NES Mega Man games (I need to play more of the series), Ghost Trick, RE4, Puzzle Fighter, and Marvel 2 are all pretty good I guess but I can take or leave just about everything else I've played from them that I can think of. Trials is damn near a masterpiece, the way it closes the trilogy. Dat last case.

ugh, you can pick 200 games and it wouldn't be a bad pick.

most recently: Dragon's Dogma.

overall: probably SF II because there is no way around that.

Was totally going to post the Japanese Gamecube version's boxart here, but once is enough.

Although it's only published by them, I'm glad to see others suggesting killer7, as well. Hands down my favourite game. About time for that HD remaster, right Capcom? Seriously, just upscale and AA it, and the incredible art style will do the rest!
