Best Capcom Game?

Probably Mega Man 2 because rose tinted nostalgia.

Super Ghosts 'n Ghouls, Final Fight 3, Bionic Commando, Mega Man X and generally all their Disney-related games (Ducktales 2, Darkwing Duck, Alladin for SNES) are top notch too.

Resident Evil 4 (played in 2/2006)! The game is not only enjoyable in a b-movie sort of way with a lot of great story moments, but it is also incredibly fun to play and downright tense the first time you go through it. Still my second favorite game ever (after OoT or TP) and made me a Resident Evil fan for life.

Street fighter II

Resident Evil 2

Dragons Dogma

Breath of Fire III

The Legend of Zelda Oracle of Seasons and Ages and Minish Cap

A lot of excellent games were made leading up to it, and a few really good ones have come along since, but the height of Capcom is Resident Evil 4.

Yup.

Maybe on home consoles, but their portable titles are usually great.
Possibly, but handheld gaming is vastly inferior so I don't bother with it. I don't see the point of sitting in my home staring down at a tiny, mediocre screen and fighting with the cramped controls. There's more than enough games on PC/consoles for me to play.

Personal circumstances and all that. If we're using that logic, home consoles are vastly inferior at my own personal key hardware requirement of portability as my gaming time is on my commute and other factors come a distant second, and after 250+ hours of MH on the train I'd have to say it's far better for me than trying to play such a huge game at home. I must get through a couple of dozen rpgs a year on the train, and if the game is good enough I rarely notice the less comfortable grip, Kid Icarus being a notable exception. There's more than enough portable games for me to play to worry about gaming at home too.

I don't think I've played more than a dozen hours on home consoles this year, being chained to the TV at home feels archaic to me now, I'm more likely to pick up a portable or a tablet even when I'm at home. If I had dozens of hours a week to play at home I'd probably feel differently though. It's cool there's so many gaming options to fit people's lifestyles though.

Agreed, too bad Capcom only cares about one of these lifestyles anymore :x

It's not all bad though, at least we got Dragons Dogma Playable Edition coming in a couple months!

Looking at their lack of Vita support, I think it's more that the 3DS was cheap to develop for and the games sell at a high price. If they couldn't afford to even make Street Fighter V without Sony it makes me wonder what else, outside of RE, they are even going to bother with on home consoles.

DD was one of my favourite games last gen. I thought the battles with the Chimera and Hydra in it were fantastic, and made the minigame of mounting creatures in MH4 look simplistic compared to the primal brutality of clinging on to a raging beast in DD. The sheer bulk of the Hydra with it's body slams and lethal speed made it feel really threatening to me too. Capcom are good at making the monsters in both act a bit like real creatures, it's the little mannerisms I enjoy, even little things like the way they roar or limp when wounded.

I have to admit I am also still partial to a bit of MH3U on the WiiU gamepad in bed on the occasional Sunday morning though! What do Capcom have lined up for PS4/XBO outside of Resident Evil and Street Fighter? They have so many cool IP, I'd love to see Maximo rebooted just to see something cartoony rather than the realistic art styles in vogue elsewhere.

They still make good games to this day, I've enjoyed a lot of their PS360 titles and double dipped on their Steam versions.

the problem is PS360 is not current generation...
now they only care about mobiles, MH and a couple of bigger franchises (RE,SF), ignoring tons of IP they created in the last 30 years...

Ghost Trick is such a gem.

...but so is the original Phoenix Wright. Yeah, I'm going with that. PWAA is the best game I've ever played that was made at Capcom.

Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo
Street Fighter x Tekken
Resident Evil 4
Capcom vs. SNK 2
Ultra Street Fighter 4
Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike
Street Fighter Alpha 2, 3
Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen

To name a few.

Other honorable mentions:

Final Fight (ARC)

This game was amazingly revolutionary. The graphics blew everything away and was the beginning of more awesome belt scrolling action from Capcom.

Dead Rising (360)

Such an ambitious title and the first HD console game that really looked like it was only possible on MS's new hardware.

Resident Evil 2 (PS1)

The perfect sequel. The added scenarios were a great twist and the new setting and characters gave it a fresh feel not seen in iterative game sequels.

Fuck's sake, man, nearly all of my all-time favorite games are from Capcom.

Well...if I have to pick just one, I have to go with Street Fighter II. It's the reason I got into games at all, and was a seminal work in video game history.

Resident Evil 4. When debating "the best game of all time" for some reason I always come back to this game. I miss the days when games had fundamentally different control schemes. This felt different, looked different and played different. This isn't even in my top 5 favourite games, but yeah, it's probably the single best game ever made (up there with Snake Eater) and easily Capcoms greatest game.

Because it needs love and representation I'll say Shadow of Rome.

In all honestly this feels like asking me which child is my favorite. I love them all so much in their very different ways. Plus a Ducktales vs Devil May Cry 3 vs Ghouls and Goblins vs Megaman 2 vs Power Stone 2 vs Resident evil 2 vs Chip N Dales vs Street Fighter Alpha 2 vs Shadow of Rome vs Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen vs Demon's Crest doesn't really make any kind of sense. I honestly believe Capcom has library that beats any other publisher hands down including Nintendo.

Resident Evil 4 or Street Fighter 2.

They have so many good games though, that it's hard to pick one. There's DMC, Megaman, and the Phoenix Wright games that I didn't even mention.

This question is too hard. I'm just going to lie and say Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, because nobody else has and it needs more love.

Other Capcom GoATs:

Street Fighter III
Darkstalkers series
RE4
Rival Schools
Breath of Fire IV
Mega Man 2/3/9/10
Mega Man Zero 1/2/3/4
Street Fighter Alpha/Zero 3
Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo
Super Gem Fighter
Mega Man X
Mega Man Battle Network 3
etc...

Still need to put some time into DMC, Lost Planet, and Steel Battalion series, then maybe Sengoku Basara.

Street Fighter 2 (or whatever iteration of that game that you like best) is the correct answer.
