Franz Ferdinand back in their home town. 'Nuff said. Simply amazing!

Pictures to follow in the morning when I can be bothered to upload them :D

Went out after the gig even though I was so tired and I'm still buzzing!

I WANT TO SEX ALEX AND THE DRUMMER. :D

I totally love their first two singles (Take Me Out and Dark of the Matinee). But sexing them?! They're hideous beasts (at least in the looks department).

Gotta agree.

Their show here in L.A. was excellent.

The homecoming show must have been dynamite.

Suerte, did Sons and Daughters play with them?

Well, Alex has something about him and the drummer is very cute!

I don't think they did, although I didn't catch the name of the first support band, but The Kills were the second support act - they went on for FAR too long though.

And yeah, although I haven't been to their gigs elsewhere there was just something special in the atmosphere for their homecoming gig :D Everytime Alex talked the crowd would cheer/jump/stomp/whistle for like five minutes, it was insane but oh so cool, especially after the whole "it's good to be home!" speech! Can't wait to see how the photos turn out! :D

I don't mean to alarm you but you have dogs on your face
I just can't get into Franz Ferdinand, when everyone else (who knows about them) seems to love them. What is wrong with me?

Brothers and Sisters supported Franz Ferdinand in the U.S. They're also on Domino and, I believe also from Glasgow.

The band (Brothers and Sisters) was pretty cool, but what really struck me about them was that the lead singer (a chick) was offstage dancing throughout the entire Franz Ferdinand set.

I imagine that by the time they'd made it to L.A., they'd probably heard the boys play dozens upon dozens of times. And yet, she was still dancing up a storm.

A testiment to both her coolness and the bands infectious charm.

The Barrowlands is easily the best place I've been to for gigs. It kicks ass. It was voted top venue in the UK by bands and it's easy to see why. FF back in Glasgow at the Barrowlands would be class.

Ah no it couldn't be them then, the first support act was all guys (with the drummer being rather hot?) Hurrah. I've heard of Brothers and Sisters though, shall need to check them out I suppose! The Kills woman was dancing all over the stage too, she seemed high or rather drunk. I loved how she was holding a lit cigarette while singing but never really had a chance to smoke it... ha.

They'll grow on you. Trust me. I said the same thing about The Flaming Lips and Bright Eyes.

EDIT: I hate myself and want to die.

How did I miss this?

They played the live version of 'This Fire' on the radio this afternoon and it sounded fantastic (and it's not one of my favorite songs on the album)

Here are the PIX, although what's weird about them is they don't show the MAD crowd - seriously people were jumping/falling EVERYWHERE.

Wow those pics turned out amazing! You must a.) have an awesome camera and b.) have had an awesome vantage point.

I keep hearing about their live show and how 'awesome' it is. I don't particularly like their music (though they seem to be growing on me again.. I don't despise them anymore. I did like them when I heard their Peel session, but they got boring quickly...)... but next time they come around I'll try and see them.

The drummer seems really out of place. Everyone else is dressed like suave 70s-80s cats while the drummer is a goon.

Other than that, sweet pictures!

Oh yeah, forgot to mention, Alex had an athsma attack on stage apparently but NO ONE in the audience noticed. I only found out about it after reading it in the newspaper the next day o_O

It was either Kraftwerk or Happy Mondays at the Barras, but I guess you're too young for that.

Cause the barras are better!

I saw him use his inhaler when they were in Toronto back in february. He didn't miss a beat either...impressive.

i missed them in NYC, they got too big, shows get sold out too quickly. same for the killers, i hit the "find tickets" on ticketmaster and got slapped with "no tickets found" for the oct 6th show.
