i've been drinking coffees and teas since i was five or six, and now i smoke, none of which works well with having soft teeth. My teeth aren't horrid, but i'd like to whiten them up a notch. There was a thread on the old GAF about this where someone recommended a product that was roughly $65, but i forgot the name of it.

Any suggestions?

I don't think any of them work particularly well. You'll probably have better luck just grabbing one of the more expensive ones with a name brand (not the little $5 bottle of generic teeth whitener.) Sorry I couldn't be of more help. I'm interesting in hearing responses.

Teeth bleeching at a dentist office works, I'm not sure about any of those OTC attempts.
Yeah, there's always that, but i can't afford it, and would be happy with a less intense whitening at a smaller cost. The only downside i've heard of with some systems is that they damage the enamel on your teeth, and possibly the gums, which is why i didn't just pick up a bottle/tube of the stuff at a local store. The better ones supposedly have fittable mouth guards that keep the solution in place.

Crest Whitening Strips kick ass!

It's about 30 bucks for a box.

The instructions tell you to do it twice a day, but I did it once a day. The box lasted about a month and there was a very noticable difference.

The Tooth paste brands don't work.

I used Crest white strips premium ( 30 bucks for 7 days). It worked well actually. I used it about 4 months ago, it supposedly last for a year. Maybe I got used to the results...there's no "wow" factor anymore. But my teeth look alot less yellow in the problem areas.

The stronger stuff could make ur teeth really sensitive, and it does cause pain on the gum.

Crest white strips are not that strong, but they still work fairly well. They don't really touch the gum line(depending on how u apply it on). Teeth sensitivities are minor and go away pretty fast. You won't get immediate result like the stronger stuff, but using two a day for longer than 30 minutes each was pretty effective for me.

There is one where you apply a gel on ur teeth and they solidfy and whitens overnight. It worked pretty good too. I like the strip better though, cuz I realized I was swallowing up bits and pieces of the solidfied gel.

Shouldn't be that expensive. Crest Night Effects are even better, and like half that price. I think White Strips should be like $10, Night Effects like $15. The Night Effects is a paste you put on each night and sleep with. After 2-3 days you notice a difference (out of a two week kit), and it lasts for months.
