What game has better new gameplay mechanics compared to their predecessor? And what new gameplay mechanic you liked most?

i would like to see reviews after the dust settled for both. Because I liked TotK at first, but after a while, I liked BotW more.

Same gameplay in a new area vs new gameplay in the same area.

I voted for TotK. I like DS2 so far for the story, but TotK's gameplay advances were obvious from the get go.

Well I'm bigger Zelda fan so I like that game more and I'm sure Death Stranding 2 is good for who enjoyed the first game but can't stand Hollywood celebrities in my games…..if it had original character designs I might willing give it a chance.

I can only vote for what I've played, which is Tears of the Kingdom. But, I thought ToTK was a heck of a follow-up to BotW. The extra layers to explore (especially the underworld!) and the ability to build things were excellent.

Still early. I get my copy of DS2 tomorrow.
I loved DS1 and i couldnt finish Breath of the Wild- maybe even disliked it. TOTK however i LOVED and i already know im gonna love DS2.

TOTK takes it for me. Took a Zelda i didnt enjoy and turned it into a GOTY contender in my eyes.

Death Stranding 2. I couldn't be bothered to finish Tears. It was more of a master quest update than an actual sequel. I also HATED the story which didn't help matters.

Tears of the Kingdom is a significantly better game, but also a terrible sequel

I voted for TOTK since I do think it's better overall, but being a sequel is one of the few things that that game sucks at.

TotK have more new gameplay mechanics than DS2 compared to their predecessor… By a good margin.
After playing BotW to death it almost made me puke seeing the same shit over and over again in TotK. I forced myself to finish that game, but it wasn't a pleasant experience.
The same kind that changes 70% of it up, includes dozens of cave systems, with an entirely new map and completely new interactive mechanices to use within it?
Lol, the cave systems as well as the sky islands were so repetitive and boring that I was permanently thinking that they must be procedurally generated. The fuse machinc was interesting, but not enough to call it a sequel of even a new game. The rest were just quality of life improvements.

Did you even played the game? 🙄
I did. The sky stuff was pretty barebones and reminded me of the shitty islands in WW where there was some kind of minigame and not much else.
The underground seemed nice at first but once I learned that it's just the surface but mirrored I lost interest quite fast.

But the game has problems way worse than those areas being kinda meh.

I sure hope they put more effort in the next Zelda game, TOTK has been the laziest entry in the series by far.

I thought the cave system was brilliant and added a new sense of discovery, especially when you could exit from a completely new part of the map, find new shrines, outfits or enemies.

The "Ultrahand" let you create everything from cars, tanks, mechs, jets and everything else in between. It has offered the kind of freedom and player creativity not seen in a console game in years. Also, "Ascend" challenges you to think beyond just the x and y axis of your current surroundings. It's a true game changer when it comes to traversal.

If you want a game that uses the same map over that's way more superficial you'd have to look at the Yakuza games, not TOTK.

Zelda wins by default because it was not burdened by the utter Z tier Kojima storytelling gank and idiotic character naming conventions.

Tears of the kingdom...holy shit what a disappointment. Completely agree on the sky and cave systems being horrible.

Nintendo knows way more than us so we must bow to their wisdom /s. They didn't listen to any of their fans and just doubled down on breakable equipment and gimped master swords. Lazy as fuck.

But Lunarorbit Lunarorbit didn't you see the awesome building mechanics? Thanks roblox zelda

I'm gonna hold my vote. Kneejerk is TotK but I haven't played DS2 yet. I'm sure they are both bangers actually, so really either side should feel good. These are two of the better games that have been made.
