You don't know if they're not the publisher of the future PC version, it's pointless to use DS1 as a reference as 1. it's a case by case basis and 2. Sony was notably not a PC publisher in 2015, when they sold Kojima the PC publishing rights. They were already clear in that a 505 Games-published PC version of DS1 was coming even before the original PS4 version launched in November 2019, while that's not the case this time around.
And again, IP ownership =/= publishing rights. Kojima owns the IP, but he doesn't necessarily own DS2 itself as a game. Stellar Blade is an example of Sony owning the game while not owning the IP, as they also published the PC version like most other first-party games.
And I'm not pushing any #SonyToo BS, I'm literally hated by some people here by defending Sony lmao, I'm just stating that it's not different from Ghost of Yotei inevitably getting a PC port in a year or so.

About the IP rights and publishing rights, i don't know.
I guess anything could be valid, as long someone can write it on a paper and people sign it.

Regarding the Sony owned IP and PC releases, it always felt like they are not in a hurry. Selling consoles for them is a priority.
It makes sense for an independent studio like KP to try and release the game on every platform as soon as their exclusivity contacts have ended to maximize sales

I've gambled and pre-ordered. I hope I don't get buyers remorse. I haven't had a game in months except for The Precinct and that was monotonous as fuck!

I just remembered why I didn't like or buy the original Death Stranding. It was because of the overly complicated U.I and menus. Fuck, just canceled my pre-order.

The issue with that is that this is obviously a PlayStation Studios production and not some exclusivity deal. Again, if it worked like that, Shift Up would have published Stellar Blade on PC.

Yeah, parsing through reviews has unfortunately confirmed my suspicions. In order to appease crybabies Kojima has made the game even easier than before.

No more struggling on foot, gradually unlocking different tools to make traversal easier (which was one of the best aspects of the first game - gradually getting new toys to optimise routes), they just give all that stuff almost immediately at the start.

IGN France reviewer played on Brutal difficulty and said the game was a walk in the park start to finish. Even the new weather/environmental system didn't bring anything to the table, easily ignorable.

Good job, Kojima, my grandma says thank you, now even she can finish the game

Kojima also bought publishing Ip rights back off 505 games

My guess is part of the Sony deal for the rights back was that Sony would publish PC and other versions of DS2 but we will see

Did they enhance the traversal gameplay at all? When I finally played DS1, I was shocked at how shallow the walking gameplay actually was, considering that was supposed to be a highlight of the game.

Contrarily, I've been playing the Baby Steps demo, and while exceedingly dumb, it's got infinitely better "walking simulator" mechanics.

I want to like Death Stranding so badly too…

It's hard to know how this plays out until we get some hours in, but this is bad news.

The first game was 10 out of 10 if you got into the walking management and 7 out of 10 if you didn't. I loved it and expected this game to go even further into the walking sim aspect. But this makes it seem like its the opposite.

After reading a few reviews, watching a few more, watching some streamers I have come to the conclusion:
  • If you liked the first, you'll really like this more
  • If you didn't like the first, don't bother as even though the traversal and combat mechanics are expanded, the core gameplay is delivery and its more of less of the same
I'm in the second group here so yeah, nope. Fans, enjoy ;)

That's a weird comparison as the games have different aims. Baby Steps is more akin to QWOP. Death Stranding's "walking mechanics" are more about package delivery, the gadgetry you can use to haul more effectively and overcome obstacles, and path building via your own and community driven options (ropers, ladders, roads, ziplines, etc.).

Played death stranding 1 on a ps4 slim just fine, Sam bridges is a memorable character, couldn't wait for his cut scenes, the story with basically in a world that's the aftermath of a nuke, delivering a dead presidents body on your back, the beach things and the super natural are just crazy good, wasn't a fan of the cargo menus, and it the first one sits at a 82 on metacritic, if you told me death stranding 2 would come out before MGS6 I would call you crazy, I can't wait for death stranding 2 with it's interesting levels, celebrities as always and the perception, super natural world with its beach things.

I'd better not see you commenting on the game if you're truly out 😋

It direct sequel, what did people expect?

Anyone know a video where they explain the gameplay/combat differences from the first game? I don't wanna see spoilers but I want to know how it's been improved.

Anyone know how to enable aerial view? Instruction poped up for like .5 seconds before I went odf cliff and I didnt catch it

If you mean "cinematic camera" or whatnot in the very intro, hold R3. But apparently that's only available only on certain occasions, usually pressing R3 will just switch shoulders.

I kid you not, Death Stranding has an insane community similar to Nintendo defenders. You don't like our favorite game? Go fuck yourself and never show your face in our chamber. Last time I commented on the trailer and similar shit lmao. Kojima makes a game to connect, be positive during calamities and catastrophe but the community be like, "nah, fuck you if you don't like our game".

Message received, DS fans, I'll never talk or think or write about this shit game again.

Yeah, they're a sensitive group that's all in on insanity.

I did mention this on the other thread as well, but if there's any big fans of the game out there, DM me if ya'll want to form Strand Connections - would be fun crossing bridges from other gaffers!
