Apparently the game let's you skip action sequences/bosses if you fail them. Funny thing is that it doesn't just say "skip this part" but rather "pretend you won", which sounds like it's mocking the player for being a mega pussy. Bless you Kojima.

Reminded me of the chicken hat in MGSV 😂

Is the walking/running fixed? I tried my best with the 1st one but I just couldn't get with the balancing mechanic.

How far did you get and did you try to learn it?

Cargo weight, where it's placed and what terrain you're walking on determine how you're balanced. Holding the triggers generally kept you safe if you opt for a slower pace. Then throughout the second region you basically would get enough shit where you didn't really have to worry about that stuff unless you played like a mad man.

I've gambled and pre-ordered. I hope I don't get buyers remorse. I haven't had a game in months except for The Precinct and that was monotonous as fuck!

Wtf? You completely changed the discourse.

I really don't understand why you is salty. Death Stranding 2 is a Sony first-party game, in the same way that Bayonetta 2 and 3 are Nintendo's first-party.

I don't understand why people acts like you.
It's the same thing with Ninja Gaiden 4. MS fully funded and published it. Therefore it's 1st party.

Same here. I played a few hours in the first, but got distracted elsewhere and never went back. Game has been in backlog purgatory for a while now. Need to remedy that.

If you have the directors cut, all I can say is after around 5 to 8 hours I was completely hooked and wasn't even bothered about the narrative. Such an incredible experience. It's literally a Sci Fi novel in video game form imo.

Yeah, I dunno about that, all those 9s and 10s seem fishy as fuck, especially coming from brain dead game journos, demanding easy mode and crutches whenever it's possible.

DS1 didn't need more action/streamlining, it needed more tools/expansion of it's core delivering gameplay.

Hearing praise from the usual suspects actually makes me apprehensive

Well, dang, I need to get back to the first one as well, then. I bought it at release and bounced off it after like 3 hours, never went back. All the praise (for both of them now) says this is a mistake on my part that needs to be rectified. As soon as my backlog permits, I'll fire up the Director's Cut.

It completely clicked for me and I binged it every day possible as soon as I got home from work and at weekends. Making Zip lines and the highway around the world was super addictive. Hopefully it grabs you like it did me :)

It doesn't need fixing. That's part of the game. Carry less until you get upgrades that make it easier.
I was playing like a lunatic, trying to rush through everything. But I'll try it again and take my time this go around. Thanks. 👍

"The gameplay plays on the safe side with high doses of Metal Gear for more action and fun. As for the narrative, the plot is sublime with its criticism of large corporations, social networks and AIs, but it is also extremely emotional when talking about family, friendship, love and depression."

Like how is it a fucking plus for a sequel to a game that was going out of its way to be different and unique in the sea of mediocrity?

I will say that DS fundamentally benefits from just kicking back, taking your time and playing around in the world. At least in my opinion. It kind of naturally puts you in that state like an Ambient music album and I think some friction arises for some players that don't like that about it and try to approach it more like the typical AAA "gotta see the story and beat this asap so I can play the next one on my backlog".

It's kind of why I hesitate to recommend it to anyone despite loving it. I can see how that needs to hit JUST right or else it can be annoying and/or boring as hell. It reminded me a lot of Subnautica in that way. It's love or hate because you can't brute force it and everything takes patience and time. But again, I can fully see why that shit doesn't fly for some.

I might be the only one who actually loved the first few hours of death stranding 1.

Watching andew reviews( ones without spoilers), and it is becoming extremely hard to not just stay awake through the night and play through the intro

Sony funded many third party studios for doing games for them in case you keep forgeting, but doesn't mean their first party studios are doing good stuff this generation.

WTF is wrong with all those apologists? Sony this generation was pretty bad in comparison with previous one. Relying on third party to do their job.

You guys should stop acting as Sony doesn't have first party studios to do their games.
Oh my sweet summer child. I don't even know how to tell you that games like Crash Bandicoot, Spyro The Dragon, etc weren't done by PS studios but still they were published by PS...and guess what? They became the face of Playstation. I never even once saw people claiming they weren't first party games back then. (yes Naughty Dog wasn't a Sony studio until it was making Jak & Daxter games)

They also relied on "third party to do their job" when they had IPs as timed exclusives with Tomb Raider, Final Fantasy, Tekken, Ridge Racer, Devil May Cry, GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas, etc...and guess what? No one complained that Sony was lazy.

About Sony not having first party studios to do their games...Ghost of Yotei is about to release isn't it?

What's epic about this is how he builds upon his ideas and what people wanted from the first game, he's put in his second. Maybe to convince people to play the first game again without this "I need to shoot something every ten steps" idea. A walking simulator is a diss, not a defining characteristic.

If you do, make sure it's the Director's Cut. There are many changes that make the game much more palatable.

I've tried to tell people this, but they don't want to listen.

The PS2 is widely regarded as Sony's best console ever (along with there being valid arguments for it being the overall GOAT console) and it was a platform that heavily relied on 3rd party partnerships for software.

Seems like it's mixing the 1st game with more MGS style action. Should be a good time. I'll get the director's cut on sale one of these years.

I only had the regular game on PS so I'll go ahead and get the Director's Cut on Steam since it is currently on sale for $16.

Thanks

It's one of the few games where I just throw on a podcast and pleasantly enjoy playing. It's a very soothing and relaxing experience

I really hope Nixxes are working their butts off on porting this game. I was sceptic, but the first one absolutely blew me away. Kojima at his finest.

Not a 96/100 average? Digital ps5 pre order cancelled.😞

Kojima dick chili just doesn't hit anymore for these journalists from Europe operating a blog as a "review site" huh?

Anyone ever click some of these no names? It's just ads galore and a joke. lol…

Honestly tired of repeating this, yeah. Sony WWS wasn't even a force to be reckoned with up until late PS3 gen.

And Kojima was a PS partner in crime since PS1 days, even MSX2 days really (one of the better ones were made by Sony).
