Bill Gates is currently meeting with Donald Trump

Mr. Gates, the billionaire co-founder of Microsoft, announced on Monday the start of a fund to invest in transformative energy research and development to reduce the emissions that cause climate change. The work would supplement and build on basic research already underway at government labs that may be threatened by the incoming administration.

Despite Mr. Trump’s expressed skepticism about climate change and his appointment of fossil fuel advocates to his cabinet, Mr. Gates said he expected the president-elect to recognize that government funding of basic research would eventually be good for business, jobs, infrastructure and other economic elements that Mr. Trump campaigned on.

“It’s a good deal,” Mr. Gates said.

Mr. Gates’s new investment fund, Breakthrough Energy Ventures, is intended to capitalize on the government-backed research through partnerships with the University of California system and other institutions.

I don't expect much in the way of convincing Trump unless it benefits his bottom line directly. So far all his dealings have been more or less in line with enriching himself. I wish the people meeting with him well, but I don't expect much with his current cabinet appointments at the head.

Nah, these billionaires need to stand up and refuse to do business until Trump is impeached. I'm sure the employees that rely on them for a paycheck will understand.

At least, on my facebook, the Trending News section makes no mention of Kanye meeting Trump, but four of the entries are related to Russia's involvement in the election.

I don't think it's a coincidence that Bill's climate change initiative was announced yesterday and he's visiting Trump today. Something is up
 
I'm sure Gates was just there to say how "quaint" Trump's building is.

Also every now and then, an actual billionaire has to visit Trump Tower every now and then.

Umm, why is everyone here acting like this is a bad thing? Just a few days ago Bill Gates put an investment to climate change reaearch; if anything I'd assume Gates is attempting another Al Gore meeting with Trump on climate change.
 
I watch this billionaire entertaining suitors in his golden tower while the paparazzi snap away, and I continue to wonder how the 'working class' believed this could relate to them.

None of this shit is relevant towards the fact that every single day we are closer to Dump being sworn in and destroying our countries progress. Its all bullshit.

Not to say it shouldn't be covered of course but I imagine that, in light of the massacre in Aleppo and the CIA's conclusion in regards to Russian interference, people are rightfully concerned that this may take away airtime from mainstream media outlets over what will likely be a menial event in the pre-President Pussygrabber days. I sincerely doubt that, given who Drumpf's planning to appoint as the head of the EPA, any sort of prodding will sway the thug-elect, no matter who it comes from.

Daily Beast is framing Gates as optimist about the Trump administration, claiming he can be the next JFK.

Clearly stroking Trump's ego to get more federal research grants, but still a disgusting thing to say anout someone planning on building a wall with Mexico.
 
I have more respect for people who refuse to speak to the cunt. There must be something in their egos which says "I'll be the one to persuade him". Idiots all. He must be in his element having the great and (liberal) good pandering to him.
 
I have a feeling that everyone who meets with Trump is killed during the meeting and replaced with a clone that is totally and uncompromisingly loyal to Trump.

Distraction from what?

Trump isn't hiding anything, he's doing everything in plain sight and even goes to Twitter about it.
 
Gates wants to see investment in basic research not get stifled/buried and wants autonomy to bring in the scientists from around the globe as needed. Trump has NOT been friendly about even "good" white collar immigration.

The real fun is tomorrow though. Oh to be a fly on the wall in tomorrow's meeting between Trump and Bezos/Nadella/Cook/Page/Musk and others tomorrow. The tech CEOs are probably slightly-negative-to-neutral on Trump but the educated upper middle class that work for their companies despise the man with a fury of ten thousand suns.
