Binary Domain TGS Trailer

I saw trailers for this playing in Sofmap here in Japan and this looks surprisingly good. I thought it was going to be a stink bomb like Quantum Theory but it presented itself well enough for me to want to try it. I was surprised I've never heard of it when I saw the videos, so this game will unfortunately bomb because of poor marketing I guess..

There are a few people interested in the game (including me), but even them are mostly waiting for it to bomb and drop in price. :p

/edit/ There really is some good stuff in that trailer, though.

Exactly. This game looks like it could be a quality sleeper. But we all know it's going to bomb and be half price within a few weeks.

It's going to bomb! Lulz.
Then maybe buy it day 1 instead contributing to bombing?

No shit, I don't buy alot of games day 1 but this I will gladly pay 60$ for. Everyone wants cool new IPs but they will all buy Mass Effect 3 instead.

The whole Lolz BOMBA thing is getting fucking annoying honestly....

I'm thinking it could be a Vanquish or Valkyria Chronicles like situation. I don't have anything on me to back this up, but I'm pretty sure those games, which were also brand new IPs, didn't do well initially, but sold well over time (at lower prices) because of good word of mouth.

Of course, for that to happen here, Binary Domain would have to be a good game, which it easily may not be.

It got fucking annoying long time ago for me. Every time I see "Bomba!" I want to punch someone. And later there's: "Fucking Sega/Capcom/whatever, why no xy sequel?!?!"
Well, no shit.

New 12 minute long japanese trailer. Looks absolutely amazing, can't believe people are sleeping on this one!

Day 1 purchase no doubt, incredibly hyped!

I'm so confused.

Judging by the trailer it looks like the game has a pretty decent development budget, yet the marketing budget behind the game seems pretty much non-existent.

Outside of a handful of trailers and screenshots I can't remember much more media from SEGA.

Really can't believe that this will be releasing worldwide next month.

I hope the inevitable bomba doesn't damage the Yakuza studio too much...... :/

This game looks great but is being sent to die. Haven't seen a single preview, interview, or anything as far as the western gaming media goes.

They've released a bunch of trailers and interviews and what not, a fairly steady stream since a couple months ago.

I have absolutely no doubt that this game will be good stuff, it has a good chance of being amazing imo. It's sad, everyone slept on Vanquish and a year later the thread is still getting bumped daily and people are finaly realizing how great that game was.

Same shit here, forget about whatever boring sequel you were gonna buy and support this shit! The shooting looks so crunchy in this game, blowing off specific parts on those robots just looks plain satisfying.

I'm really excited for the game but sadly I have to admit that even though I don't do this a lot, this is one game I'm going to be waiting on a price drop for. There's just too much other stuff in February to warrant a day one/full price purchase for me :(

The story stuff looks really interesting. I'm looking forward to reviews and impressions to see if they pull it off.

Arthur talked about it briefly on Rebel FM recently. He called it the most mechanically competent Japanese shooter ever which coming from him is absurdly high praise even if he didn't mean it that way. Actually got me hyped in a “well if he actually liked it then I’ll probably love it” sort of way

Any word on how the VA is going to work? I seem to recall an earlier trailer being split between Japanese and English depending on the character.

game looks awesome, great enemeys &boss design, varied gameplay(boat, slides, cars),interesting story, great looking cutscenes, shooting mechanics look fun.

Hey guys, it's going to bomb regardless of whether people on GAF buy it or not. See Rayman Origins.

It's not our responsibility to market their games. THAT is what I'm sick of. People acting like we work for these companies.

Definitely there Day 1. Nagoshi is one the coolest developers ever. But it will probably bomb in the West. Yakuza is still completely underappreciated, and hasn't sold well in the States. But bless Sega- for bringing that series over. Just give me Black Panther god dammit!

Very keen on the game, but the game will pretty much bomb. Wouldn't be surprised if the game ends up selling worse than the Yakuza games despite being multiplat.

Looks stupid and fun. A lot of those Japanese actors are pretty famous, but I bet the English VA will be cringeworthy. Will be my guilty pleasure of 2012.

Bomb this, bomb that, bomb all of the above...
Thank you for your thoughtful analysis and opinions. If you like the game, buy it and enjoy it. Most just have to give their predictions on sales for every single title coming out. At times I feel like we talk about how a game will perform sales wise more than the actual game itself.

This game bomba-ing is still a very real possibility, but that trailer actually looked pretty good. Kind of reminds me that there aren't enough shooters out there with cool robot enemies...

Wasn't this the game with the trailer we all laughed at?

Yes and it doesn't look any better.
Wonder how this will do in Japan, since we all know this won't do well over here. Yakuza games sell well enough in Japan, so I don't know what to expect from this.

Fuck it. Day 1.

The promo video revealed that there seems to be a surprising budget behind the game. I didn't expect to see some of the gameplay variety that I did in that video. Hype++

It actually looks pretty cool. But it's coming out at such a terrible time for me. A month before Mass Effect 3 and Max Payne 3. 2 series I'm pretty heavily invested in. I might get it later in the year when there is a break in the big releases.

ya, I'm hoping for a sleeper hit. would be nice to finally see a Japanese developer get a shooter right.

The impressions on the gunplay have been pretty positive. They seem to be taking some of the best features from other TPS games and implementing it into this. I especially like that it seems to take from Dead Space when it comes to the importance of bullet placement.

Had a lot of fun playing this at E3, there was a lot of squad based stuff going on but I forgot it all already. I do remember fighting a huge mech and jumping on his back though!

I wish people could just post opinions about new games and not sales predictions.

I mean it's cool you're being a thrifty consumer and are waiting for price drop but you don't have to remind everyone this everytime a new piece of media comes out for a game. It's pretty annoying.

That said I've been sold on this for a while. This is my big new game for February. Can't wait.

Loading the trailer now.

I'm a huge Nagoshi/Yakuza fan and even I didn't know this was coming out here in February. That's probably not a good sign.

Is this coming out in NA for February as well or is that only the Japanese release?

I have wondered why people in the media aren't really talking about this because it looks very good.

Another game for my 2012 list.

This game looks so damn good and interesting. I was going to buy this before, but now I am really excited!

This game looks really good.

Was just wondering, was the detective in Yakuza 4 modeled after this guy?
