Biohazard (Resident Evil) for DS

^Those are PC pics right? They look clean and hi-res, although Saturn had the best backgrounds of the original game.

It is. It says so on the page.

Ooooo. That explains it.

I was wondering what the 10th anniversary of BioHazard would bring us. Couldn't have been another collection as that had already been done on PS2 AND GC, so this seems to fit the bill. Hopefully they do other stuff, too.

The backgrounds are clearly pre-rendered. Where did you guys get the impression that they are fully 3D?

Because there is pixelation in them...wchich pre-renderd backgrounds don't have..therefor it's realtime ;)

Look at tracememory...all prerenderd backgrounds.

But maybe they should have made the DS version pre-renderd.

You know, this just might be the BioHazard 10th Anniversary game we're getting. It's been that long...

EDIT: Thanks Deku. :D

Yep 10 years in 2006, you should be able to understand all that kanji ;)

The only Kanji I can read is the one for year (Nen) and Mizuka/Ji. :D Incidentally, I start my very first day of Japanese class later this morning at 10AM Pacific Daylight Time.

Ten years though... wow. Felt like yesterday when I was gushing over the Nightmare Returns briefcase 5 years ago.

The only way I will buy this game again is if the FPS mode allows you to poke Zombies in the eyes with the stylus to blind them.

(The bottom three pics)

Let's all enjoy a touchscreen game of "Pick the meatballs off that crazy drunken Richard." Wait. These don't come off like meatballs. Richard? Richard!?! RICHARD!!!

"Yo yo yo! MC Wesker is in the hizzle! Mua ha ha! This door will surely be safe with THIS kinda antique bling for a combination lock, as nobody but me can bust a rytham as fine as this."

Touchscreen says "Wipe the brains off your lens to continue!"

Whet I'm seeing is confusing. Is the game really fully 3D? The backgrounds look akin to lower res versions of what was already on the PSX version and the 1st person screenshots have little if any visible change in position or orientation. Does the article state that the environments are fully 3D?

The combat doesn't seem very RE4-like either so I'm not sure where those comments are coming from

There are several shots in first person mode. Only way that can be done in the RE context is 3-D backgrounds, unless its some kind of 80s style fake 3-D first person view.

Looks great to me :)

DS it´s really taking a good coverage from developers, i´m sure that this is because it is a cheap cost/develop machine, against high cost/develop psp, and the sales numbers of hard it´s getting now.

I will buy a DS soon :D

Hell f*cking YES!
This game is going to look great at the native resolution of the DS screen! And its NOT prerendered which makes me believe that an RE4 style game just might be possible on the DS. This is as good as mine RE1 is my second favorite RE game. That first screen where you meet the first zombie looks horrible because the screen-cap is blown up. You can tell by the pictures of Chris slashing the zombies in first person that the textures are pretty dam good for a DS game and like someone said texture filtering would just about put it on par with a low-end PSP game.

That isn't the PSX version. This is either the PC or Gamecube version. RE2 and 3 on the PSX didn't even look that crisp and clean. Here is the PSX game.

Looks fully 3d to me. If it had been prerendered it would look a shit load better in these screens. There's games with prerendered stills already on GBA and DS for reference at these kind of resolutions...

Screens look a lot better at 256 x 192 too.
I'm in work so I can't upload fixed ones.

The previous rumor on this nailed many of the features by the look of it.

The graphics are decent enough. What will really push me over from interest to a buy is if Capcom somehow uses RE1 designs and levels but has a completely different feeling game due to its 3-D / first person nature, as well as two/screen touch screen support.

I can envision a bit harder and much faster paced RE where the inventory would be on the second screen which eliminates the need to constantly go back to the menu screen to shuffle stuff, or find an item and puzzles that are more interactive. The first person mode should be interesting if implemented correctly.

The game is not beautiful by any measure, but DS games look better in motion anyways. I stopped by Futureshop the other day and saw EA's Rogue Agent on a demo DS, the framerate was silky smooth and it looked really nice on the screen.

This pisses me off. I don't want friggin' "enhanced ports" on the PSP OR on the DS. KNIFE BATTLE MINIGAME <> NEW GAME.

Original content is dead :( Are the RE creators so protective that they won't allow a brand-new game on DS?

Patience. Like the N64 Capcom tested the system with a port to see how it would handle before they spent money on an original RE project. Imo this is the most logical thing to do. I think we have a good chance of seeing an original portable specific RE game if the franchise sells well on either the DS or PSP. However now I have full confidence PSP can handle a downgraded RE4 style RE game now.

Erm, why are people even mentioning RE4 style gameplay? Game looks nothing like that. Also the PSX pre-renders are still higher res than the DS ones (unless the DS backgrounds are 3D).

I wouldn't mind RE1 remade to play like RE4
These screens don't indicate it, however.

If you can aim your gun in first person that would be enough for me but yeah ideally they would have to completely redo RE1, 2, 3 or CV to play like RE4 otherwise the games would be almost retardedly easy.

How on earth can people not tell the game is using realtime backgrounds?

it's not fully 3d and won't play like RE4, look at where some of the charectors are when they are fighting, not in the middle of the screen like RE4 plays, they are like off to the side and you can see in one pic the female running towards you. it's static, for sure, you can tell by where the main charector appears in the scenes.

If the background are really in 3D, i'm impressed. I wonder if there'll be FMV and voice-acting in this one.

Voice-acting including Zombie moans and groans should not be a problem on the DS but I wouldn't count on FMV because the first game didn't really have any except for the intro, ending and the Tyrant being revealed.

Too many fine details, odd-looking shadows and lighting.

Don't know if thats a diss or a compliment or both.

A static camera doesn't mean that it isn't fully 3D though like Code Veronica.

Regardless I would wait for actual movies of the gameplay before writing the game off graphically for some grainy, blown-up then reduced low quality magazine scans.

I'm fine with the graphics. There is a difference between a handheld that isn't a grapical powerhouse and having great games and a handheld that is a graphical powerhouse and has no good games.....I call that difference well over $100 dollars.
