Bioshock Infinite, Crysis3, Dishonored, which one should I play first?

Dishonored is one of the best games I have played.

I tried to replay it but I couldn't stomach it but the first playthrough was Godlike.

Infinite should be next.

Never played Crysis 3 apart from the shitty mp beta.

BioShock ---> Crysis --> Dishonored

Play the one you want to play first.
Then the mediocre one.
Then the best one.

Dishonored is amazing, fuck Metacritic.
Huh? Dishonored is one of the most overrated games of the generation by its Metacritic score, in my own opinion.

PC version has a 91... that's way, way too high. 360 is 89, PS3 is 88. I think it's somewhere in the 7s.

Serious reply having read OPs posts:

Maybe people are right, you could play Crysis first if it's short, Dishonored second since there's depth to the gameplay and you'll want to fool around, and then Bioshock if that's what you're really looking forward to.

That just coincidentally happens to be how I would backward rate the games.

Dishonored is goddamn excellent. One of my favorite games of this generation.

I re-installed Infinite yesterday after months of putting it on hold and I was actually surprised at how much I hate the shooting mechanics. More so than I remembered.

Play Dishonored first for a game with great gameplay

Play BioShock Infinite for great visuals and a amazing story

Sell Crysis 3 and buy Crysis instead

This man knows what's up.

Glad to see all of the Dishonored love around here. It's easily one of my favorite games from this gen.

Bioshock has a better story but Dishonored doesn't have a bad story at all.

You should play Bioshock Infinite first because it's not very open, and linear, but it's amazing and has one of the best stories in gaming. The gameplay has it's ups and downs, but it's good enough to drive you through the story.
Maybe this is just me, but I was absolutely fascinated by the city (Columbia), so much that I spent an hour just exploring the city. The art is great, the game is beautiful and the music is smartly used.
Then play Dishonored because it's a bigger game, and has much more replayability, and you'll want to repeat it. It does, in my opinion, have a very average plot, but the city and the universe are interesting.
I didn't mention playing Crysis 3, because you should insert it inside your anus.
Joking aside, I honestly don't know about Crysis 3, I got bored out of my mind just playing the first 2 levels, I guess you should leave it for random urges of brainless shooting.

Don't play Crysis... Multiplayer isn't too bad but dat campaign is so, so awful.
Infinite and Dishonored are both amazing, flip a coin.

While I'm in a Bio Infinite thread, may as well ask: How do the Bioshock games rank?

I'm currently on my first playthrough of Bio 1.

Bioshock 1 - Great plot, some may argue it's pretentious, but to me it didn't seem so. The gameplay is...creative, it's good. It has a great art direction.

Bioshock 2 - The plot is very different from the first one, thematically, it's more of a classic tale, not as smart as the first. The great art direction stays and the gameplay is slightly improved.

Bioshock Infinite - I feel the plot is a mix of the other two, with sci-fi added. The story is, to me, fantastic, and it's very well presented. The gameplay is dumbed down, and sometimes inconsistent with some themes of the story, but I had fun with it, since I was focused on the story and atmosphere more than the mechanics themselves. Brace yourself for a very frustrating boss, though.

All of them have amazing art, great use of music, and brilliant atmosphere. They differ on the gameplay and plot.

Bioshock 2 can get a bit tiresome some hours in, but keep going, it pays off. 1 and Infinite flow better.

Maybe it was because I played the PS3 version, I dunno, but I really didn't like Dishonored. I know the graphics on PC are a lot better, but I thought the guards' dialogue was incredibly annoying and the sneaking felt borked to me. I may give it another shot later on PC, but I thought Bioshock Infinite was a lot better.

  1. Dishonored - Because it's short but awesome. Also get the Dunwalls DLC.
  2. Crysis 3 - So you can get it out of the way.
  3. Bioshock - Perfection can't be rushed.

I'm impressed with all the GAF Dishonored love; I thought it was fantastic but felt I was in the minority.

Don't forget to play the Daud DLC as well OP; the missions are just as solid as the base game.

Haha I did not like Dishonored, but I'm surprised to see all the comments about how short it is. I took it slow and did stealth, and I took forever to get just like half way. I guess it's not as long as I was playing it.

I'm really not sure why Crysis 3 is receiving so much ire. It's a really fun game. Here's a good video showcasing its strengths: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2nHe3V4nS8

That being said, it is extraordinarily short, so I would recommend just getting it out of the way so you can experience the superior Dishonored and BI afterwards.

Dishonored has the best gameplay, while Bioshock Infinite has the best story.

Crysis 3 is terrible. Don't bother with it.

Dishonored, which is also the only one you should play.

oh come on, Infinite might be a tad overrated, but it certainly isn't bad and worth playing when you like fps games. I don't think Crysis 3 is downright bad either, but I haven't played it so I can't really speak for it.

Dishonored is a good game I'm sure, but it didn't grab me at all unfortunately. It was a bit too stealth focused for my liking.

I can't believe some of you guys. Not sure what you expected from Infinite, but it's objectively better than Dishonored. Apparently I'm the only one that still likes Infinite, but from nearly every perspective it's a masterpiece. Only reasonable criticism I've heard revolves around the gameplay, and I completely disagree. Infinite may have been mechanically similar to Bioshock but with slightly less depth, but the vigors are still great and have a myriad of interesting combinations. The skyline sections were also fantastic, some of the most engaging and just sheer fun sequences in any FPS as far as I'm concerned.

Dishonored, on the other hand, is pretty interesting and definitely has some solid stealth gameplay but has a painfully uninteresting narrative and Master Chief circa Halo CE is a more fleshed out character than Corvo. The amount of people here suggesting that Bioshock Infinite isn't even worth playing or that Dishonored is somehow an incredible experience is honestly shocking.

Bioshock Infinite - Fine game but not as good as many peolpe made it out to be. Story and game play did nothing for me. 7/10

Dishonored - Dishonored was a game that said or tried to say "play anyway you'd like but only play this way or you'll be sorry" and that killed any enjoy for me. I wanted to kill all the bad guys with out being seen or noticed but for all my hard work the game decided to punish me for it.5/10

Crysis 3 - Haven't played it but I did play Crysis 2 and thought it was just bad all around.

One of the best single player FPS out to me that alot of people over looked is Resistance 3 great game

Crysis 3 first to get it over with

Dishonored just because

Bioshock Infinite to me the best out of three but that's not saying much.

Surely by punished, you mean narratively (high chaos), right? Most of the tools that DIshonored gives you are for murderous gameplay rather than nonlethal, a fair number of which can be used without detection.

BioShock Infinite is a legitimately great shooter and is absolutely the best of those 3 titles. I get the distinct impression that a lot of people who cared nothing for the genre played the title because of its prominence in the gaming zeitgeist at the time and for the praise its story/world got. I would be very suspicious of any criticism of the game you read that consists of little more of calling it "shootbang" or some derivative, as if the flaws in that are self evident. (That said, I have seen plenty of criticism that absolutely detailed issues the players had and went beyond dismissive scoffs at the game because of its genre) Crysis 3 continued the decline of the series, which was only truly decent in the first. Dishonored is good, but broken in half by blink. It's nowhere near as deep or tactical as the hype machine leading up to its release would have had you believe. Never felt inclined to use much past blink as you simply don't need anything else. Understand that you are meant to kill; there's little reason to go pure stealth and comparing this to the stealth giants of old will only make you hate the game.

No idea how you would want to order those, but that's how I feel about them. Personally, I wouldn't play Crysis 3, but give the other two a go in whichever order you feel based on my thoughts on quality.

Dishonored is a lot of fun and has some good DLC (The Knife of Dunwall). Go for this first.

Bioshock Infinite is mostly fun. Go for this second.

I haven't played Crysis 3.

Infinite is by far my favourite out of the three. Play that.

Dishonored is good too. Not great, but good. Play that after.

Crysis? Eh. Really dull I thought, but I don't have a beastly gaming rig, so maybe I'm missing the point of a game like that altogether.

edits: oops, saving Infinite, right. Play Dishonored then.

Dishonored. And don't worry about getting caught. Killing people in inventive ways is the best part of the game.

Play it sneaky but don't worry about getting caught. There's only one mission that I recommend really never getting caught, the party mission. Everything else, just have fun.

Dishonored is fantastic, my personal GOTY of 2012. Take your time with it and try to do everything. The heart has some cool insight so don't forget to use it.

dishonored kind of ruined infinite for me at first because i kept thinking i was playing a gimped dishonored... but later i came to love infinite for what it is. people sort of hate on it now but i think its one of those games that'll be remembered more fondly several years from now

tl;dr play infinite before dishonored

Currently working on my 4th playthrough of bioshock and its a fantastic game so I say go with that first. Its honestly pretty shocking to see people suggesting dishonored over it. Dishonored is good and worth playing but I enjoyed my time with infinite more.
