Bioshock Infinite | Official Spoiler Thread |

did anybody else run into a red colored tear with the actual cyndi lauper girls just wanna have fun song blaring through it?

Man, that bit was so good. The voxophone where Fink implies those tears are gonna make him rich were great- I didn't actually clock on he meant they were stealing the music at first, because it just seemed so fucking out there.

Yeah I did, I remember going "What?!" when I heard that.

I assume that tear leads to when Fink stole the original song from the future or something like that?
A "1900s" version of Tainted Love pops up in the game as well - I had to google the song to make sure it wasn't actually from that time period. (I didn't realize it was originally from the '60s though.)

There's a red tear near the Gunsmith's house, too- there's a song that pipes through it, and after the tear closes Booker comments on how he doesn't "think anyone's heard that song before". What song was that? I thought it was AC/DC at first.

Just a question about something I just saw. For the first time, I died and while Elizabeth was there I didn't get the cut scene of her saving me. Instead it was me walking through the door at my office. Is that the Lutesces pulling a new Booker into the timeline?

It is one of the theories.

If its the one I'm thinking about its actually Creedence Clearwater Revival's Fortunate Son.

I believe the one you're talking about is "Fortunate Son" by CCR

Edit:
It is one of the theories.

Thanks! Funny that I played through the game 3 times and never saw that particular scene up until this point. He's clearly confused when he steps through the door.

Can someone explain the whole "Luteces putting a new Booker in the timeline" thing in extremely basic format?

I read that bit in the OP a few times and I still don't fully understand what it means. Maybe I'm just dumb.

ummmm I could be wrong but

-Luteces exist in a Comstock timeline
-they want to make up for their sins
-create a tear into a Booker reality
-bring Booker into their Comstock timeline
-beginning of game

I don't fully understand what the deal is with the Luteces, though.

So basically, this process happens every time I die?

Must be hell for the Luteces :p

Yeah, that's the amazing thing, the idea that they managed to contextualise fucking respawning- the most widely accepted of game tropes- within their fiction.

Given the Luteces are clearly fucked beyond belief and basically exist everywhere, I imagine bringing in a new Booker isn't too difficult.

Well, Elizabeth saved me every time! This was the first time I saw this particular version and I have over 40 hours played according to Steam.

For me, Elizabeth saved me whenever I was with her and I got the door when I was away from her.

When Elizabeth saves me from death, is it just left at that or is there an insane theory behind that too? Only half joking there, I assume so but you never can tell with this game

I was hoping she'd start getting nosebleeds fro doing it and would ask "Please stop dying, okay? It's really tiring"

Oh yeah, can someone describe the nosebleed thing too?

All of this is spelled out so clear in the OP yet I still can't understand anything about memory replacement, nosebleeds etc. I'm such a dummy :(

nosebleeds can be interpreted as his body is adjusting to the changes by going through tears. Booker also seems to remember more stuff whenever he goes through them such as when he entered the Martyr timeline and started remembering stuff from the other Booker.

You shot Slate! Actually I don't blame you. I haven't spared him since the first time I played through the game and I saw how that turned out.

Something that was pretty clever was how the "shoot ticket-booth guy/don't shoot him," decision plays out was that if you decide not to act on the suspicious behavior, he stabs Booker through the hand, and despite not being able to feel that pain as a reminder, the bandage Elizabeth puts on his hand stays there throughout the game, which is frequently visible. I remember not shooting that guy and by the time I got to Slate, I didn't want to make the same mistake twice after constantly seeing the bandage.

Yes. I was expecting something else to happen, though. I was confused, but then I realized that's how Fink was stealing music. Pretty awesome.

Male Lutece is from the Booker/Anna Universe. Female Lutece is from the Comstock universe. They're the same person, but of different sex.

Female Lutece convinces her male counterpart to cross into her reality along with Anna, because Comstock is sterile.

I guess that makes sense. I thought it was symbolism that he died in another life or something, like how his nose bled when he killed Comstock.

He gets a nosebleed as well when you first "meet" Comstock at the beginning of the game.

Game has a lot of little things that won't really make sense until you play it again.

The thing I don't understand is why those soldiers are act all strange (like they remember being killed by Booker) when you go through the first tear. I thought the nosebleed were a symptom of body/mind being infused with the knowledge of that dimensions equivalent. But only Elizabeth and Booker go through...

Yes, yes, that all happens before what I said though. That's why I said the Luteces are in the Comstock timeline. I didn't say they were always in that timeline, but I was trying to keep it simple.

edit: Oh, I see, you were explaining the Luteces for me. Thanks!

I think I died three times where Elizabeth doesn't save me. The first time Booker walks out the door he says "what was that" or something like that. Has that been mentioned? It was the first time I actually died overall, I think, so I just assumed that was part of respawning. He never acted surprised after that. I think that's right around the time when Liz runs away and the Vox throw you out.

Well, the nosebleeds could logically happen anytime the multiverse is affected, like crossing universes and gaining/fabricating memories, or killing your other self.

this is true as well.

it was mentioned that Robert Lutece went through the same shit when he crossed over to meet his twin.

This one sentence made sense of the whole nosebleed thing to me better than anything else.

So thanks. :p

As an aside, since the Luteces are the same person, just opposite gender, that would mean there are universes where there are female Bookers and male Elizabeths, right? Just a little thought I had.
Would be cool to play a genderswap Bioshock Infinite, seeing as it would actually be a plausible thing in that world.

That would be awesome for DLC. A little side adventure.

Nice pictures. Speaking of, I love the song that plays outside Hall of Heroes.
Thanks, I'm really happy with how the pics turned out. :)

Also, you mentioned the music. I love the song that plays in Lady Comstock's exhibit. It's a classical piece -- anyone know its name?

I believe I'm just using "High." No custom modifications. Runs smoothly with no stuttering, as well. I'm on an Asus Republic of Gamers laptop (nVidia GTX560M, 8GB RAM, i7, 64-bit). Of course, those shots are in 1600x900, not 1080p, so that probably helps.

It's amazing how well the game runs. I was a tad worried since the "Can You Run It" test at System Labs had indicated my comp was above "Minimum" but below "Recommended" in regards to the video card. And yet, the image quality is superb and the game runs like a champ.

So why does this happen to the soldiers you encounter after entering the first tear? They seem to recall being killed (in fact the characters mention it). But they obviously weren't brought through the tear. Same thing with the arms dealer...
