For years now I've noticed this trend of anything that has a purple hue somewhere in the game poster to normally mean the product has, how can I put it.. a lower quality to it somewhere along the line and I don't think I was the only one to notice, going by a few posts on here I've seen on Gaf

I personally do not think purple in fantasy setting is ghey like so many fragile persons on neogaf. Purple in fantasy art has always been used for otherworldly visuals. Evil auras, evil magic, poison, powerful gemstones, depict powerful magic not for mere mortal. Its a color in psychology that invokes magic mystery and spiritual.

Especially with 70's & 80's fantasy art that found its way into almost all books, such as Michael Whelan's.

I've always wondered why these DEI-infested games had so much purple. I never knew it was actually a thing.

This is my comment when I was looking at Avowed's footage.

Watched ~6 minutes from the 4-minute to the 10-minute mark, and the game looks very Ubisoft-esque in a generic, not-a-good-way.

Also, the art style in the game looks very realistic and really cartoony at the same time. It's off-putting.

And SO. MUCH. PURPLE.

Gosh, these devs even pay attention to these minute details. Yet they ignore some of the most meaningful things that would actually matter to gameplay and fans.

Bisexual lighting is the simultaneous use of pink, purple, and blue lighting and is used to represent bisexual characters.

Yeah this is much more of a trend with film than with gaming, but you'll see it everywhere if you you're scrolling through indie horror movies. It always makes me feel like I'm supposed to put on 3D glasses.

I think in 20-30 years when people are parodying the 2020s in film and television this will be one of the ways they flatten our trends into an easily read aesthetic, in the same way we use that purple and cyan chrome and laser look to code the 80s now.

I mentioned in another thread my own sexual identity, and how I feel about wokeism/Dei and how much I do not like or need it. I wanted to say that things like this make me hate myself more than any bigot ever did because I like these colors. It reduces me to just a color type or identity which is limiting, not freeing or helpful. I wish they would stop. I am worth more than some pride flag or or purple light. Liking or using these colors should not be an indication of who you want to sleep with, only that you like those colors. Nobody cares about the colors straight people like (unless they are being falsely claimed as KKK members) so why should people care about colors for other groups or even need thoses colors to rep us in the first place?
