Hey guys, I'm having problems with bittorrent tonight. The problem is that I can't sustain connections to any peers. Dozens keep connecting and dropping every second, so I'm obviously not able to transfer data. This was working as of Monday, and yes i've got all the propper ports being forwarded. :)

I'm using Azureus 2.3.0.0. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

could just be the specific torrent. sometimes they get put on shit trackers. i've also had times when i restart my machine, it makes it work again. torrents are shisty little things, like little rats. just gotta let em run around.

So what's the deal with Azureus 2.3? Why does using it get me banned?

New Azureus has a feature known as decentralized tracking, which allows the client to function in the event the tracker dies. While this could be considered a good thing if you are hosting pirated Windows XP ISO on your DSL tracker, decentralized tracking enabled by default on healthy torrents with stable trackers only interferes with the tracker's ability to collect accurate statistics, as well as affects non-azureus running peers by not allowing the tracker to properly distribute pieces. All new torrents posted on this website (starting from May 5th 2005) will have a flag embedded to prevent decentralized tracking. Any attempts to circumvent this feature will result in your entire netblock being immediately BANNED. In order not to get banned, it is recommended that you turn decentralized tracking off, by following this simple procedure:

1. In Azureus, go to Tools
2. Select Options
3. Under "Connection" scroll down until you get to the "Peer Sources" section
4. Uncheck the box labeled "Decentralized tracking".
5. Close out of the Options.

I got that from some fansub group's site. Hope it helps.

Well thanks guys, I changed that settings, rebooted, and now my Windows XP installation is hosed! They system simply refuses to boot, not even in safe mode. :lol

Aw well, that installation was older than hell, it was probably time to reformat anyway. Hopefully the drive isn't fucked.

Damn I feel guilty. :(

May as well as here: I have two torrents going on right now, but they're slow as hell, despite connecting to a good number of peers. Are some just slow due to shitty trackers? I'm a BT noob, hence the question.
