Witch/Wiz is absurdly fun to level. I'm just kiting everything and one shotting them with insane AoE spells. I thought casters would have mana issues since they give you a billion potions, but the Witch has so much mana regen options that you literally don't run out of mana.

I was having a great time with Valk, but I felt my clearing was pretty lackluster. I'm definitely rolling Gandalf.

I haven't run into too many offensive English voices yet. One thing that bothers me is that the voice dialogue volume seems incredibly low.

i was actually impressed with the quality of the English voice acting. Maybe its because i have been playing blade and soul (i have a high tolerance from crappy voice acting but good god..).

Oh man, this too! I hate the random lines of dialogue that have nothing to do with what the NPC is saying to you. It's really distracting.

Wife and I are looking for a new MMO (and have tried quite a few) ... Shame there is no planned open beta afaik, due to the nature of the game (grindy or so I read, and open pvp with karma system).
I would have felt probably more inclined to purchase if there was an open beta (missed the cbt key giveaway unfoirtunately) which would allow us to try it out.

Still pondering about it though ...

Just tried fishing but I hate that there's a typing minigame. I was playing at the couch without a keyboard (pad only). Seems like an unnecesary gimmick, considering theres another minigame before it.

Btw the screensaver while afk is simply beautiful.

Was hoping for a good sandbox game to replace SWG, but this community will never be that great with how they are now.

To be fair, this is a free beta, and keys were easy to get. You shouldn't judge the community based on a bunch of people who likely won't even buy the game.

That being said, PvP-centric MMOs tend to attract the "it's not enough to succeed, others must fail" crowd, so the community will probably end up being toxic anyway.

I just love the way the question system works now. I love being able to press t and automatically end up where I am supposed to be. It really takes a ton of the guess work out of the game and simplifies everything

There are quests that do crafting tutorials in the game. Plus there are crafting videos you can watch from the play tab up at the top right.

If you go farther east, it turns into like New mexico near-desert stuff. They're adding deep forest later + snowy mountainous areas

as well as a full desert, and the high seas including tons of islands

Found a small PvP arena, there was some dudes doing 1 vs 1 duels. I spent a while, sitting on the fence watching them fight and talking. Cool stuff

Btw, I love the incredibly attention to detail. Even when you talk your character do varied talking animations.

One of the few things I miss from FFXIV (the other being the gamepad support). General chat is so spam free there.

I actually like the realist landscapes, even if they can be boring for some (I totally understand why). I'm one of the weird dudes that loved Dragon's Dogma map for that reason.

The recommended filter is trash IMO, I can't believe they it's turned on default. Looks much better without any filter IMO (some filters are cool for pics).

Well, makes me really sad to hear that it's just another MMO now. Remember seeing those early betas and being really wowed by how interesting the design choices were. Guess it's just another... "waifu simulator" now. *sigh*

I feel like every time "player owned anything" is mentioned by MMO developers I should just assume it's either a lie or completely irrelevant to the game.

I'm going to give a couple week to see how it settles. If not, going to level to max and leave. I can deal with the trash talk PvP. Calling someone out and having the whole guild duke it out, that shit is fun. The constant lame trolling though just shows immaturity.

I actually would rather have bots. At least they are original with how they make messages and not being a sheep that regurgitates what someone else created. I would enjoy to see the creative ways the botters use the chat than the played out memes. At least the bots do not disappoint.

I'm playing Warrior because greatsword awakening later. I know it'll take a while, but I'm liking the class playstyle anyway.

And this game is alt-friendly since pets/gear are shared between characters.

Right now you can attack or defend yourself(-60k karma - killing the opponent) exactly four times before running into negative karma.
After that you have to kill several thousand mobs to counter the karma loss.

Edit: The problem is partly rooted in the fact that the game was originally supposed to be a very liberal sandbox game.
Sadly a lot of these things were take away from the final game resulting in the rather broken PVP system.

The story of how they nerfed OWPvP during the KR betas is pretty interesting. But yes, the Karma system is broken now and no effort was made to fix it because you're expected to only do OWPvP at level cap.

You can make anyone look older and there are no elves at all. Eventually all the classes will be represented by both genders, they won't all be exactly the same though. Witch and Wizard are, but the warrio and valkyrie are considered counterparts. The male/female ninja classes are pretty similar but have different ranged attacks I believe. Stuff like that.

So I guess that means Giant is the only non-human race? Better than nothing, and if the Ranger is just a human I guess that makes me feel a bit better.

IMO this game (minus the pop in and lod problems) looks sooo much better than FFXIV. To be fair, FFXIV runs better in modest PCs.

I don't see this game releasing on consoles. Would need a big UI revamp.

Can confirm. I appreciate FFXIV's ability to run great on my PC which is in serious need of upgrading.

Yeah, I can run FFXIV on high settings at 60 fps just fine. It's very well optimized for an MMO and it still looks good thats to its lighting (obviously nothing compared to BD).


Btw, got a storm recently. It's cool how puddles form on the road or how you can clearly see water flowing on the roofs.

The only bad thing is that the rain cloud looked kind of crappy.

Im also leaning towards the Wizard/Witch class. At first, I was gonna go Berserker, but His attacks got kinda boring at a while.

But the Wizard I'm liking the wizard attacks a lot. I like that I can heal myself with spells and I can attack with range while moving.

I like the way the game plays @ 30 frames than how it plays @ 60 frames.
This is the first time i preferred to play a game at 30 frames instead of 60 frames.
For some reason, the games setting, aestetics, looks just looks kinda weird at 60 frames.
With certain filters, the game has a cinema feel at 30 frames.
So weird

Is there a way to lock the frames at 30??? It only goes to 30 frames in town with a lot of players, but out of town, 60+.

Okay so.. yeah, the game is much more fun once I just stopped questing and started doing the nodes, fishing, hiring workers, trading, crafting, etc.
The B2P + cash shop model still bothers me though so I don't know if I'll be interested in getting the full game.

You have to just let yourself wander and do stuff randomly. Don't try to be linear in this sandbox.

The cash shop will likely get fixed, they are very adamant about fixing player concerns.
