This is the downside to having an incredibly complex game, but well worth it, IMO.Man, ima have to watch a lot of videos before I jump back in this game.
All the stuff just goes way over my head.
Another MMO that suffers from the crazily busy UI and menus all over the place. It's taking me a while just to know what everything is. Im a fan of the simplistic/ minimalist type styles.
The new player learning experience is a serious drawback.
I'd rather watch videos of people who already figured it out to tell me and learn from their experiences.
There's a number of options in the graphics menu, one of which says something about distance. I'd play around with those a bit.Is there any way to reduce the foliage/environment pop-in?

You can also buy dyes for loyalty. So that's a free way of getting dyes, even though it's even more random. I do wish dyes was just something you'd get ingame or be able to craft, but oh well.Dye system is complete garbage. The dye mechanics in the game are absolutely wonderful as it has a dedicated interface and allows you to dye many different individual outfit components but... all the dye on the cash shop are from RNG boxes only. You cannot buy the specific color you want and to add to that, the dyes are one-time use and there is a huge variety and amount of variations you can get from a single RNG box. For example, if you wanted to dye an outfit completely red you might need 4-8 of the exact same red dye. You have to buy a red RNG dye box which can give you maybe 1 in 20 different variations of red. I think I bought around 20 RNG dye boxes to try and out and rarely had more than 2 of the same dye color. Yeah, this is garbage. At least we don't have 'dye subscriptions' like other F2P regions... lol
You can craft pet food, and if I recall, it's pretty easy to do.Pet food on the cash shop? WHY?
That has to be something left over from the Korean version. I think in the Korean version you buy a currency you can use across games, and then you exchange that currency into pearls for Black Desert. Why do I have to buy these gold coin things and then convert them to pearls? Why not just one shop currency? Maybe I'm missing something...
About to start crafting and I hope it goes well. I setup a few nodes and got some workers gathering for me. Anyone know how to set the workers to automatically start working again? I noticed they will idle once they complete gathering. I got a a few gathering ore, wood and olives.
So I love the game's combat, world, and aesthetic, but there's so much here I DON'T want to ever do or mess with, partially due to the game's own obtuseness and partially because I'm just straight up not interested in anything but exploration and combat. I couldn't give any less of a shit about the node system, hiring workers, or doing odd conversation mini games with npcs that I don't care about.
The UI is a currently a mess, in my opinion, the questing is archaic (go kill anywhere from 3 to 100 of something a LONG ASS run from the quest giver, then run all the way back to turn it in), inventory space is incredibly limited considering monsters drop SO MUCH BULLSHIT you'll never want or need unless you're interested in crafting (I'm not). And is storage really not shared from town to town? I left lots of items and money in the Velia storage and when I got to Heidel, I tried to store more money and there was nothing in the box. So they really want you to go back to every town to get the stuff you stored?
I really enjoy how fluid the combat is as a Valkyrie but all I really want to do is kill things with friends and solo the occasional boss, so I don't think I'll be buying this game. I'm glad I got a key without preordering.
I believe you can "transport" your stuff to the new town, but welcome to a sandbox world. They will not have shared vault access, quick travel, etc. in this game, it's not made to be like that.
I don't want quick travel. I'm not complaining about how long it takes to get from place to place. I'm complaining about the incredibly dated quest design of kill X number of monsters then run back to the quest giver.
Didn't realize vault access not being shared was a feature of a sandbox world, however.
MMO quest design is what it is. I'm not sure how developers can change it at this point, most players skip dialogue and go right to the objectives anyway.I don't want quick travel. TESO had a pretty great quest system, but I honestly prefer this method. It's a chore either way, and I'd rather keep it simple. Quests aren't what MMOs are about, and most definitely not what sandbox MMOs are about.MMO quest design is what it is. Somnia is right however, the game goes for realism first and foremost, making everything relevant in the world.
So, how do you hide the UI when taking pics?
Also that photomode? I did read someone here saying pressing R but doesnt work.

So far, high cash-shop prices, stats on cosmetics, and RNG in cash shop items (dyes) are also VERY hot topics on official forums. If Daum Games is as community friendly as they have been in the past, I'd think there is hope for changes in full release.
I'm also very unhappy about people making fun of others complaining about cosmetic prices and stats on them on the subreddit/ official forums, where the devs read. By stats, i mean stuff like +XP and stamina increases. People don't want to admit they are in a honeymoon phase and are trying to deny any issues with the game rather than address them now so we don't have them in the future. The game may be amazing, but denying an issue because they want to pretend the game is perfect will only lead to more issues. I may be venting in that last sentence, but i will be very unhappy if the community makes the game worse by pretending it's perfect.
A buy to play game should not rely on a high priced cash shop.
The costumes are expensive, but only compared to different, very different games. People will buy them, and the great thing is, you can buy them with in-game money, from other players.

From my understanding one of the reasons it's buy-to-play is because everything you buy from the cash shop is bound to account. The reason for this is because selling cash shop items in the market would make the game P2W, with an easy way to gain currency to buy anything you want in the game. Atleast that's what I understood from a developer discussion I was listening to.
My biggest concern isn't the prices of cosmetic items (which are incredibly stupid high when you consider the fact that they cost more than the game itself) it's that they contain buffs which in the long run can give you an advantage over others. I enjoyed what I've played so far but if they keep the prices and stats the same, it would set a crappy precedent.
They contain buffs? You mean that +1 Luck for lingerie? lol

The full costumes also had some small buffs. Like, +xp and +night vision I think were a couple? They seemed pretty minor though.
So apparently with the full cosmetic set and pets, you gain a max of 25% increased xp, a certain amount of increased stamina, some hp increase, a vision increase, and some other stats. You can only get these items from the cash shop and they aren't sellable through the market. Bound on Account. Reddit subforum, mmorpg forum, and their own forums are blowing up over it at the moment.
The big issue with the xp increase is that there is no hard cap in leveling apparently? So you can level infinitely, at least that's what I gathered from tidbits of information.
Honestly, this game is just loaded with stuff that you need to read and watch videos to understand everything lol.
Any aussie here currently trying this beta? How's the ping and lag? I'm on the fence about preordering in case it's unplayable. I tried getting a key through giveaway but no luck so far.

Sorry if this been posted but yesterday they gave out pearls to test on the cash shop. Today they gave out some more. Here is the link:

Another 60 dollar worth of cash shop goodness to get your addiction rolling I guess?
Can skill resets be bought with the in-game currency? (gold, whatever it's called)

Why bother having family names if the primary name is all that counts for being taken by anyone else anyway..

Question: How extensive is the build customization for the classes in regard to providing interesting options for combat playstyles? I really like to have a ton of options, even at the expense of balanced homogenization. Can I make an unconventional build even if it's less-than-optimal or is advancement sort of shoe-horned and reliant upon the action-ey element to provide different play styles?
