Having played a few hours last night to about level 18, valk is pretty fun and I enjoy the combat, but holy shit everything else in the game feels so obtuse and frustrating to understand. Looking at some of the menus, I still have absolutely no idea how any of the systems even begin to work. I couldn't seem to figure out how to make anything from crafting even if it let me select mats, it would just say couldn't make anything, I can't gather from mobs even though I have all the tools, I think I accidentally bought a room in a house somewhere, but couldn't actually figure out how to get into my instance of it, only other peoples. I'm sure I'll figure it out in time, but its a bit overwhelming at first.
Also, there's a lot of typos in the subtitles, dialogue boxes that are just squares, and I'm pretty sure some of the subtitles were in German or something for one quest.
The world itself seems interesting enough, but I'm having trouble piecing it together. Doing stuff around Heidal, it sort of seems like they're being taken over, or at least financially getting fucked, but I wasn't really sure what the whole deal was. Some of the quest lines seem to end abruptly too. You run into the couple from the ruins earlier at the pumpkin farm talking to the alchemist there about the pumpkin ghosts, then you go examine some pumpkins for him, and that was it, there was no follow up beyond "yup, the pumpkins are evil."
The combat really is fun though, going in the revel camp for those quests, I'd be fighting like 5-6 guys at once, dodging around and stomping them. The shield throw skill is awesome as hell, and being able to cancel into that heavenly pillar spell or whatever that calls a spear down is sick.
