Damnnnn the lighting looks like crap now wow.
Uh... where did all the colors go? Am I doing something wrong?

? I don't think they changed the lighting on the Pro, only on the base PS5 to get a real 60fps.The PS5 Pro version doesn't have lumen in performance mode either so it must just be a copy of the base PS5's mode. That sucks.
It got patch last year
Is the lighting on the Pro perhaps less butchered? Because according to screenshots here, it has been completely butchered on base PS5.EDIT: After doing some more comparisons, I can see a relatively slight downgrade in the lighting with the new Performance mode. This implies that the Lumen is removed (or downgraded). However, I only noticed it when actively looking for it and in typical gameplay, it's not very noticeable in general (it may be more noticeable in other chapters). Still think the Pros of the new Perf mode outweigh the loss of some lighting that most wouldn't even notice.
Is that on base PS5 or Pro?

Nope... I am (unfortunately) a day 1 Pro user and I regret it so fucking much.![]()
I thought this was the base PS5 and that they left the lighting on the Pro intact.
I hear you, I don't think I've really touched mine since the last Astrobot update.Nope... I am (unfortunately) a day 1 Pro user and I regret it so fucking much.
Yup! They even suggest you delete the game and download it again if you don't have enough space to update.Wait, hold the fuck up.
I just read that this update is 95GB !!!
They're basically making you download the entire re-compiled game and not even changed to a newer UE5 version.
wtf!
Once again, more evidence that things like Lumen and ray tracing should not be used on the present consoles. If you have to reduce frame rate and/or resolution to use Lumenor ray tracing, then just find a different lighting solution. Instead, when you force it where it doesn't belong, you get situations like this or Jeid Survivor whens it's disabled.
Also Balanced mode on XSX is 1440p base resolution. That is, even on XSX there could be room for a performance mode with Lumen and a very estable 60fps (no framegen) at 1080p.Yeah, but only quality and balanced modes.
I don't get why they keep lumen off on Pro, Xbox SX can render ~50fps in unlocked balanced mode with lumen on and Pro is obviously stronger than that? Bizarre decisions from devs continue.
It's expensive and have issues with dynamic environment. So we will see more and more RT based lighting in expense of performance.Once again, more evidence that things like Lumen and ray tracing should not be used on the present consoles. If anything, this shows that 60fps needs to stop being the standard. 30fps is perfectly fine and enjoyable for Wukong and both PS5 and Series X hit that target with high resolutions.

So you either have a gimped to the ground lighting or settle for 30/40fps
Personally I am fine with quality presets

Graphics always trumps performance for me. ( except MP, of course)Respectfully, I don't know how people can play fast moving action games at 30fps. For me, the reduced lag time alone is worth going to 60. Not mention the increased frame rates allow me to more easily observe enemy movements and react faster.
Do things like ray and path tracing and Lumen provide more accurate lighting? Sure. But to me the feel and speed of gameplay will always trump looks.
Newbie developers from a country that has still a lot to proof and delivered less than nothing on consoles fumbles their dev ops.Wait, hold the fuck up.

Personally speaking it's a big no-no for action games. I simply don't play them anymore.
And that works great for you. Fine. Have at it. But devs should offer non-ray traced, non-path traced, no artificial frame generation, no Lumen modes as an option from the get go. Not add it in a year later, as the BMW devs have done here (much like the Jedi Survivor devs).Graphics always trumps performance for me. ( except MP, of course)
I successfully raided in MMO with 500ms ping.Respectfully, I don't know how people can play fast moving action games at 30fps. For me, the reduced lag time alone is worth going to 60. Not mention the increased frame rates allow me to more easily observe enemy movements and react faster.

This confuses me. They improved the quality of the GI on Low on PC, but gutted it on consoles? My game didn't update yet, so I will test the performance of Low GI before and after. If it's the same, then there's no reason for them to have killed it in the new performance mode on PS5.
- Significantly improved the lighting quality when Global Illumination is set to low, making it closer to the effect when Global Illumination is set to high. (PC)
Haha, just happened to be the right time cuz I just finished Shadows the other day. It's all destiny.Be honest, how many different game names did you have to google before discovering this?
Yeah the reception of this update has been mixed. The general consensus was that they used the series S's performance settings for new PS5 mode? This confuses me. A bit disappointed myself seeing absolutely no improvement on PS5 Pro. And the HDR is still missing.
Yeah, Balanced mode ain't too shabby. I'm just hoping the PS5 Pro support would be better. They've copy pasted the SX profile here, the performance was better there and the key thing is it gives them enough headroom to remove the frame-gen.
Balanced mode is the best way to go for folks who want the visuals but don't mind 40fps (with drops).
Would love to see what High does as well. If Low is as good as High, then wouldn't High be a LOT better now? This confuses me.
