Black State - 8 minutes Gameplay 4K RTX | IGN @ gamescom 2024

Graphics nice, all the rest terrible. I would've expected some destructive environments and to be honest, everything looks like it's made of plastic.

Looks like your usual run of the mill tech demo. Nice visual effects. Bad art direction. Lots of shiny and reflected surfaces.

There is nothing in this video which is making my jaw drop.

Funnily enough, I'm more impressed with Ghost of Tsushima. Looks phenomenal as a PS4 title. There are so many 'jaw dropping' moments in this game despite having dated tech. As an overall package it delivers.

The opposite for me, i find the demo extremely impressive graphically and i thought that tsushima was saved by its strong art design but all the graphical shortcomings were super noticeable to me and i never found that game graphically impressive, just very pleasant to look at, but not graphically remarkable.

Isn't this the goal?

That's because everything looks too clean for a start.

The character animation is janky AF and so off putting. If they put the same energy, time and money into the animations like they have the visuals then maybe we can talk. But other than that it really just looks like a graphical tech demo with the most basic gameplay attached to it. Shoot a bit, hide behind a pillar, dodge roll, shoot some more. Fucking YAWN

The footage of this game is a prime example of why I don't care about RT or realistic graphics. RT stops being something you notice the moment any action starts, and realistic graphics are wasted the moment you have any sort of UI. It also makes every flaw stand out that much more, like how in the alpha footage an enemy recoils from the hitscan at the same time the projectile leaves the gun. I wouldn't normally notice things like that on a simple skip through some footage.

Give me art direction that looks like an unrealistic game any day of the week, but more importantly give me games built on a foundation of gameplay rather than graphics.

I agree with everyone that said tech demo.
