In Marvel Studios’ action-packed spy thriller “Black Widow,” Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises. Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger.

In theaters, or $29.99 Premiere Access on Disney+

It's been so long since I've been to a theater but Disney+ $30 sounds like a fair price if you're watching with others. Solo it's steep punishment to watch from home. Do you also need to be subbed to Disney+?

Yes, but Disney+ is like $7. So it's not like you're paying $15-20 for HBO or Netflix on top of it.

It's the same way UFC does their PPVs now. $5 for ESPN+ and then the normal PPV fee on top of that.

Just saw it. Highly recommended.

Keep 3 things in mind. 1. Its a superhero movie. 2. Its a prequel movie. 3. Black Widow is a BEAST.

I havent enjoyed a female led action movie this much in a while. Felt like a Bourne film. Fight scenes were well choreographed and the movie is shot like a Mission impossible movie.

Thats actually a good analysis. Think of this movie as Marvels mission impossible. You will enjoy it a lot that way.

Seeing it again tomorrow.

I was pretty tepid on this film but imma gonna trust you guys and see if I can get the wife to go see it, or maybe take my 8 year old and his buddies.

I liked this more than I thought I would, but
I really do hate the Taskmaster twist. I just hope that it's another Mandarin thing and we'll get Tony Masters down the line.

Didn't get the vibe that it was an ideologically toxic movie at all from the trailers, as opposed to Captain Marvel. ScarJo is far too cool to play that sort of role anyhow. She's been great as BW in all the MCU stuff up to this point.

The director does lady films, but while I haven't seen them they look well-made. And it's written by the guy who wrote Thor: Ragnarok.

I'll be seeing this one.

I'll probably give this a watch, I've always liked ScarJos BW, but I've basically sworn off all things Disney except for Spiderman.

Unfortunately, anything with a female lead is going to get a lot of posts like this. Imagine not watching a movie because the actress doesn't want to be objectified. I'm pretty sure Scarlet is still going to look pretty sexy on screen, her character has changed over the years and she doesn't need to be a sexy seductress anymore, at least not in the MCU.
I'm actually surprised there isn't a thread whinging about the new Jolt film trailer yet

I'm sure there will be.

I wish people could see how cringe it looks to post on a thread about an eagerly anticipated film that is clearly getting rave reviews... and whine about how it might be "social justice"-ey.

Misery loves company, I guess.

It's kinda hard not to take notice if the movie outright marketed as such and the press is full of this kind of reporting.

Oh kindly f*ck off with this "objectification" bullcrap. She didn't mind when she got rich off shaking her booty, but now suddenly she cares? If you can't see the blatantly obvious marketing behind this hollow buzzword talk, you truly are nothing more than a mindless consumer drone.

Because clickbait on YouTube...?

How is it the fault of youtube creators, when the media is littered with articles like this? This is literally how the movie is marketed to its audience.

It's been 10 years, people change.
Are you one of those people that hate TLOU2 and The Last Jedi because Luke and Joel changed as people?
hmmmm

The Ghostbusters 2016 type of marketing is really not enticing me to watch the movie. I'd have been fine with a nice action romp akin to Borne, but sex-appeal is one of Black Widow's traits and if Scarjo doesn't want me to look at her, I feel obliged to follow her wish. It didn't bother her when she became the highest paid actress in the world so all of her talk rings hollow and opportunistic.

Looking forward to being shamed for looking at Scarjo and to be put in my place.
Jesus, some hollywood actress are so full of shit...

Refuse sexy roles next time if you don't wanna be sexualized by the fuckton of horny males that watch these type of movies.

Yeah, imagine going to bat for a movie that holds you in contempt and outright insults you for liking Black Widow in Iron Man 2. The only room temp IQ are the Pavlovian consumers conditioned by Marvel to gobble everything up they produce.

So there's a disclaimer at the beginning of the film that says "you're a misogynist shitheap if you liked Black Widow in IM2"?

Because if not, I'm gonna have to call BS.

Made more money last night than most movies made in the entire pandemic.

It's a long shot but I really want this movie to make more than Cpt. Marvel, Black Panther, or Spider-Man FFH. All 3 were let-downs. BP was good but nowhere near the hype.

Natasha deserves it.

I don't see why anyone would hate on ScarJo, sees never been as outspoke as Brie. The movie looks good and so does ScarJo. Still debating theaters or Disney+ , going to see F&F in theaters so might just make it a day.

Nah. The bad guy she's fighting abducts young girls only for his evil project but that's at best a detail, more so than the reason why he's evil. Gender issues aren't so much a thing so much in this one.

This movie is very interesting in that it kinda puts Nat in a traditional male role, its hard to describe but the way she is written here its just showing that that she's a superhero doing all this stuff and fighting a very personal battle but the movie is very matter of fact about it which i appreciate.

Im gonna miss her character on these movies especially after this. They do a great character analysis here where you can see what drives her, even more so than in the other movies where she's a support. IMO she's one of the better heroines in the MCU.

I was really looking forward to this but every impression I've read sounds like I would hate it. Especially the handling of Taskmaster - that alone has practically killed my interest as I was super pumped about the potential for what could be done with that character.

Again I am absolutely shocked that's not blowing up on Twitter with the mob coming after Feige for what they did to the character.

It's actually WORSE than the Ancient One, and they just apologized for that!

I imagine it went down like this:

Kevin: "So which big villain do we do next, Galatus, Watchers, Kang?"
Cate: "How about Harvey Weinstein?"

>_<

Good film tho

I think it's more about revealing who the character (and daughter) is after they were mentioned in The Avengers.

Kang is the next big villain coming and he's the villain in Ant-Man and The Wasp in Quantumania which is filming right now.

This movie will make bank.
13.2 million on opening night. F9 did 7 million on opening night. MCU train keeps pumping.
I may not be able to see it until next weekend with the Sydney lockdown. So very annoying. Very tempted to Disney+ it, I must resist.

Well it's just the first day. We will see if the MCU train can still make bank when a week to a month goes by

I just got back from it. it was really enjoyable. It definitely has a a Bourne/Mission Impossible vibe through most of it but it's a great look at Natasha and her motivations as whole. They also managed to make all of the new characters really likable as well.

My only real beef is that I wanted more of Taskmaster in this film.

It was ok. I was entertained, I liked most of the new characters and it did make me care a bit more about Black Widow....which made it feel like this should have released like 4 or 5 years ago. It's a decent mid tier Marvel Movie.
On the more negative side Taskmaster absolutely sucked. Zero personality and even the costume looked like some rejected power rangers design. The actions scenes weren't too bad but I would have preferred them to be a bit less over the top for the sake of less obvious CGI.
Also towards the end there's this scene that's easily the worst VFX shot in the MCU. It's some CW tier stuff.

And on the nitpicky side I found it silly that all these highly trained spies with years of experience working undercover all had silly russian accents.
