What a shitshow. The ONE Marvel movie I'm actually looking forward to.

Bring in Doug Liman and give him full control.

Imagine how bad this must be, to make a director that only made 3 low budget movies in the past walk away from the project

Disney must slow down fast. We are even getting 2 Avenger movies in the same year.

Reading Tariq’s bio on wiki and he seems like quite the mismatch for a big budget action flick. Same with Chloe Zhao and Eternals. They seem to want high caliber drama directors and force them into the franchise factory, like their credentials will somehow elevate low tier movies.

Thats because they A. want a director they can order around, and B. they already have a team for action scenes, they just need someone for the talky bits between set piece sequences. I think the days when a single director cracked the film from start to finish are pretty much over for the MCU. These things are on an assembly line at this point.

You should be able to do a gritty "Street level" Blade flick for about 50 mill even today. Just scrap whatever CGI laden final act they had planned and get a good stunt team in there for a proper action sequence. Swords. Stakes. Some parkour maybe. Red eye contacts, fang teeth, lots of karo syrup. A cameo by Daredevil and Night Nurse if you must. Punisher if you can. JFC this stuff used to be done by the most shoestring budgeted production houses back in the day!

Fucking yes. A film like Blade doesnt need this over the top Cgi shit. Bring back practical effects. They look way more cool than CGI anyway.

And Wesley Snipes is the perfect Blade In the same way Hugh Jackman is the perfect Wolverine so I'm not interested in another actor taking the mantle.

Imagine if we never got Heath Ledger and Joaquin Phoenix as Joker because there were prior actors who were “perfect” in the role.

Hell, with Jackman, we never even got an attempt at the comics costume, plus there was the whole height difference. Dude was amazing in the role, but it would be extremely foolish to think another actor couldn’t work quite well in the role.

I will direct it. I couldn't make it any worse than it was going to be. I Would just say to people "faster with less emotion, This is STAR WARS!"

I can't believe I saw people last night suggest Stephen Norrington to direct it. Yes, he directed the first Blade. But he also ended Sean Connery's movie career and hasn't made a movie since.

But was this a good or bad thing? Sir Connery didn't really have that dwindling twilight career so many other actors get as the need for money trumps script quality and physical decline. Granted, he has a few stinkers in his filmography already but I'd say he bowed out at about the right time lest we get Zardoz 2...

The Variety article obviously has clout and has been verified but I have no fucking idea what Culture Crave is or who Jeff Sneider isand have no reason to believe what they are saying.

ANYWAY, even if Mahershela is unhappy, it could be due to expectations. Like, maybe he expected a kick arse martial arts film and it's just not that. The Blade comics haven't always involved a martial arts Blade, 70's Blade sure as fuck isn't a martial artist.

This was him in the 70's.

I haven't read any of his 90's comics prior to the movies or the Midnight Sons comics so can't comment on them. I've only been reading the Tomb of Dracula comics so far.

Didn't Sean Connery turn down LOTR for League of extraordinary gentlemen? If so Connery deserved what he got with his career ending.

He turned down LOTR and Matrix Revolutions (The Architect) because he didn’t understand them. That’s why he did League. He quit acting because everyone making the movie was an idiot (his words) and Norrington hasn’t worked since.

I'm pretty sure we all agree Blade Trinity is dog shit. The first two were good, but the third was an absolute train wreck.
Yeah true,it pales in comparisson to the first two but hey in the sea of by the numbers sequels and checklist series we have nowadays even the shit of old is highly watchable.

He also turned down the role of Hammond in Jurassic Park due to not being offered enough money. Who the fuck hears “Steven Spielberg is making a dinosaur film” and turns down that opportunity?!
Imagine him slapping the shit out of a raptor and then saying "Now I've told you twice!"

Really hoping they are able to pull this one off. My friend sent a list of Disney's release schedule of films for the next three years, and this is one of the only ones I am really looking forward to.

They must be either trying to make Blade come across as lighthearted, family friendly, and as comedic as Thor, or they're writing him to be as boring as the Eternals.
