The townspeople tied Ri'Orius to a gigantic wooden sigil, resembling the mark of the Hunters whose duty it was to protect Yharnam from the beastly scourge.

One by one, the people of Yharnam lit their torches, before casting them onto the sigil and setting it ablaze with the fury of a righteous mob out for blood.

As he burned, Ri'Orius turned his gaze to the moon, and a solitary tear rolled down his cheek.

"Why did you not come to my aid?" he lamented sadly, the silvery rays reflected in his wet eyes.

"My true mentor...my guiding moonlight...why have you forsaken me? For what purpose do I suffer such unholy denigration?"

The former holy man closed his eyes as the last vestigules of his dignity burned away in the fire. His form became grotesque and equine, his screams of fury and pain devolving into pained nickering and animalistic shrieking.

The being once known as Ri'Orius succumbed to the flames, but his ghastly wailing would echo in the ears of all present until they too met their final ends.
