Bloodborne |OT+++| ...and so the Nightly Hunt continues

Went from the regular lamp and via the boss shortcut. When I climbed the ladders to him he walked slowly towards me and didn't attack and asked how did I get behind him. I didn't kill the hunter that is in the courtyard. Killing beast when going to be his friend might make him aggro. Also if you want to farm shards in that area do it before being his friend since he will become hostile immediately if you kill any beast in that area.

It actually sounds like killing beasts seems to trigger his hostility. I wonder if I just run through the whole thing without attacking if he'll not give a care, or is he scripted to go hostile then?

But besides that, are the steps basically:

- Play Old Yarnham normally, but avoiding taking out his hunter partner and himself
- Unlock shortcut
- Reset the map
- Take shortcut and sneak behind him without killing anything?

He will become hostile every time once you go down the first set of stairs.
I think killing BSB is also required and some guides say that you have to atleast start the Paarl fight but it isn't needed to be killed.

Just wanted to say that as a huge fan of HP Lovecraft's writing since childhood, the fact that the guy who made quite possibly my favorite game, Dark Souls, decided to make essentially 'Lovecraft does Dark Souls' is ridiculously cool. I also went back and re-read several of his short stories that I believe must've inspired Miyazaki, it's a cycle of playing this and reading him at this point.

Also bought a PS4 for Bloodborne and it delivered hard.

Platinum get!
Man what a ride. Feels good to have beaten all bosses by myself. I think I'll wait with NG+ until the eventual DLC though.

I was too afraid to do the save trick to get all the endings. (Though I would have also needed the hunter weapons and beating the one lady in the chalice)

It's the Grand Cathedral.

Although I noticed some inconsistencies.
That's both cool and sad :/

Took me forever too

That damn hitbox on the rush is brutal.

I just stayed glued to her sides and tried to get in position behind her when it made sense to.

At least those attacks tend not to hit as hard and you tend to bait out the headslam more often and less spell casts.
Yeah I had a hard time baiting the exact attack I wanted but Holy Blade+9 and L2 did the trick eventually. Had it down to a sliver a couple of times too.

Too afraid? Not like you're save is in any danger because you use Sony's upload feature.

Yea I just figured some how I would screw it up. That coupled with the fact that I didn't get all the weapons anyway made it seem like as far as platinums go I would have to go through the game again to get stuff I missed. I need to look up that wheel weapon I see some pics of and I think I needed to do a chalice for another one.

One of the funniest. He doesn't like to give breathing space.

Yeah, he's annoying as fuck. I would go blow for blow with him sometimes and whittle down his HP that way, but my main strat was (surprise) turning off lock-on and rolling to his right whenever he swang, get one hit in, then keep close-quarters.

I also did it drunk too, which probably helped.

Yep, had no problem with ML the first time since I was using Blade of Mercy, it's only when I fought him with Ludwig Blade that I found out why people say it's one of the harder fights.

I killed him fairly easily using Ludwig my first attempt, although I used a decent amount of vials trying to figure out his magic attacks. My save data got corrupted shortly after, so we'll soon see how much trouble he gives me the second time around

I finally know the source of that
weird or thing that killed me before. Now to figure out how to fight it. Gonna explore Old Yharnam first.

The most unfair boss fight in the game is probably P
thumerian Descendant
. The fact that he can throe his blades through pillars is complete bullshit. It wouldn't be so annoying either if they didn't take off so much health.

Just use a long range pistol. It's super easy if you just riposte him over and over.

I was watching a LP on VideoGamesAwesome and when Fraser fought M
icolash
and he hit that stupid dumb boss AI bug. I was surprised at him just punching and not using any of his other moves. Fraser was so bummed to find out it was a bug from chat. The fight became such a joke, lol

The parry window on the final chalice version is very, very narrow. I ran out of bullets multiple times trying to figure it out last night. I also find myself getting stuck on the geometry in that room more than any other boss fight yet. Kinda annoying.

The previous versions are way easier to parry.

Well it's not like Mico is vastly different without the bug, unless you do something cowardly like run away from him to heal in phase 2.

Ugh, this is one of my most hated bosses. I absolutely hated the fight against him since he is difficult to parry in the last phase. And he can take his throwing daggers and stick it up somewhere.

So far taken down Cleric Beast, Father Gansc, Blood-Starved Beast, Vicar Amelia and Witches. Blood Starved Best and Witches were super easy.

Where to go now?

he's an easy boss even with all his moves but that's a major bummer to see happen. the dumb AI was so awful.

Hmm, I was
trying to get to Old Yarnham from the back way through Yarghul to avoid triggering the hunter going hostile (since I heard you can befriend him). I might have to go through Bergynworth to get to Yar'ghul that way, then.

I don't know how the guy did it but I saw a video of some one just walking up to him and talking. I know that after you agree to be his buddy you can't kill any beasts in the area. every time I climbed the ladder he walked over to attack me. maybe if you wait and walk slow you can do it.

Well, looking back at the differences I noticed, I actually thought there was no lamp below. But you clearly saw one, so maybe I just didn't look hard enough (it's hard to get a good camera angle over the railing).

I'm pretty sure about the tree, though.
There's a tree behind the altar in Vicar Amelia's room that looks like it extends above the balcony, but iirc it just kind of runs into the floor when you're on your way to Ebrietas. I'll double check tonight.

I think you have to kill Dark Beast Paarl before you can "befriend" Djura and learn his gesture.

Once you've done that you can just go out the new door from the graveyard into Old Yharnam, climb up the tower and he won't be hostile.

Starting the Paarl fight is definitely necessary.

It doesn't matter if he was shooting at you before as long as you sneak through the back.

So...

- Do Old Yarnham, but ignore hunter partner and Djura.
- Kill BSB.
- Get into Yah'ghul early via death.
- Visit Praal (victory not necessary)
- Go to Old Yarnham lamp
- Use shortcut to sneak behind

Did I get that right?

This is exactly what I did last time and it worked. Probably works from
Church of Good Chalice
lamp also.

Go to Church of Good Chalice lamp instead of Old Yharnam lamp and backtrack to the ladder through the beast cathedral. Try to run past the beasts; a torch helps.

M

actually killed me in NG++, haha. Instant OHKO. In the final showdown
where he locks himself him and you have to jump down from below, I jumped down only to immediately eat his AOE arcane attack and that OHKO'd me despite decent arcane defense and 50 vitality. Ouch.

Then, on my retry, he did something I never saw before:
he started teleporting via mirrors and really kept playing hide and seek. In all previous instances I only ever saw the same phases: first, running away to that square room, then teleporting away after losing half health, forcing me to climb to the upper area and jumping down, then running away to that place where he slams down the grated door (I've tried interrupting him with pistols or whatever, but no luck, he's always too quick), forcing me to jump down on him from above.

But this time, after the half-health part, he just spazzed out all the time, teleporting through mirrors constantly, and it took forever to get him to lock himself up for the final phase. Weird...

Where to go now?

the password door in CW to continue the story, or get abducted by one of the bag guys who are around now for a tricky but worthwhile side area

Hold the fuck up.

I've been battling the hunter inside the grand cathedral, and I finally get him down, but I start wailing on him and he keeps a sliver of life. Kept going at it and he wasn't taking anymore damage at that point...

Wtf?
