Bloodborne |OT+++| ...and so the Nightly Hunt continues

Not sure why my experience with Ebrietas was so different... I purposely waited for her charge (while keeping at range), dodged it and then went in for the attack since she wouldn't do anything for a bit after the charge. Maybe its bad if you stay close, I'm not sure?

It's definitely avoidable at large distances.

I guess what my issue is is that her geometry doesn't match the hitbox. It probably wouldn't mind it as much if it did. So many times it looks like I'm nowhere near her but then I see my health disappear.

First thing that happens after the new patch = Got killed by a big enemy at Mensis, saw my echoes drain from the HUD and a blood pool form under the enemy who just stood there grunting. Not sure if the game said YOU DIED, but then nothing more happened, the gmae just kept on going, not letting me respawn. Fun times.

There are bosses and mobs where you should use lock-on, other times it's really better to keep targeting unlocked. There are some really cool things you can do with attack mechanics while targeting is unlocked, like change swing direction even after the animation has started, turn quick 180s, etc. These are essential in PvP, and has advantages in PvE situations as well. Darkbeast is one of the bosses where being unlocked helps.

In Old Yarnham there's an item in a room I can't climb up to. How do you get there?

hhhhhmmmm I remember having the same problem and tried jumping from the roof. damn, shit, sorry now I don't remember how I got it. I know that area is cool and there are more goodies to find inside. pretty sure you have to fall somewhere. you might have to watch a 100% walk through.

Can we all agree that the hitbox on
Ebrietas' charge move
is objectively stupid? Dare I say bordering on unfair? I don't care how easy you think the overall fight is, (she's not that bad IMO) I don't think this attack really adds to the challenge. There's nothing quite as deflating than seeing an attack, knowing what you need to do, learning how to avoid it and yet still getting over 60% of your life taken away anyway.

Yeah, that shit pissed me off. If she wants to play unfair, I'll pay unfair. Cheesed that boss.

I thought of dropping from higher up. But the open spots don't line up with it.

believe me I know, I was desperate and went to the roof and jumped down and across. but thinking on it again I'm pretty sure I went inside the building another way and found enemies and more items and a big staircase its a decent sized area. sorry that's all I remember.

I could be wrong give it a try. jump man jump, press and hold "O" then press it again.

This is one thing that I just don't get. Physical/blunt/thrust. I always thought ludwig would be phsyical with thrust for the charged attack. So should I stack thrust instead of physical?

Well, physical (tempering) bloodgems boost all kinds of physical damage (normal, thrust AND blunt). If you consistently use the R2 attacks (which are thrust in both forms of the ludwig blade) over the other attacks, and the percentages you get with the thrust-only gems are significantly higher than those of the all-round gems, then it would make sense to use the thrust-boosting gems. Otherwise, the all-round gems would be preferable. If you have some really powerful damage-type specific gems, it might be worth to adapt your play-style to take advantage of it.

Also, you may use the damage-type specific gems to make keeping a secondary weapon around viable. E.g. use your best overall gems for your all-round main and your blunt-specific gems for your kirkhammer backup.

The geometry matches the hitbox in my experience. The problem is that the tentacles count as part of the hitbox and cover a ludicrously wide distance.

Uh... gaiz... halp?

I'm outside the boss of Cainhurst Castle... And I can't find a route to go back to my lamp from the area outside the boss.

I've got blood echoes that need spending, and I'd rather spend them before fighting the boss. D:<

Yea stuff like that is really frustrating, I definitely agree

Uh... not exactly sure where you're at, but...

I do know there is a hole/window in an elevator somewhere around there you can run into while the elevator is still moving.

Not sure if that's the area you're in or not.

I might be wrong but I don't think there is a way back if you're right in front of where the boss is... probably gonna have to use a bold hunters mark

Sounds to me like you haven't found the very first shortcut yet. ;) There are not that many lamps in the game. 2 at the most in an area and only 1 alot of the time. That is one of the major parts that makes this game so difficult. When you do find that first shortcut, you will feel that feeling of reward you are looking for, believe me! I would suggest to keep fighting through that area collecting echoes and leveling up as much as possible. That will also get you more skills you need for later on. You will eventually find the shortcut and sooner or later, everything will click.
Thank you. I will look for the shortcut. I tried opening every gate and knocking on every door to no avail. I have an idea where to look next (to go left rather than straight when I first get into the streets with the mob) the end of that alley to the left has some bigger guardian that once killed me right away, so I never went there again. I suspect if I kill him, shortcut will be there. I've also encountered an avoidable giant that was banging on one gate from the other side. A big nooope right there, as I continued straight towards those giant crows on the other side of that courtyard. I don't see how that gate could be much of a shortcut though.

**Edit** I forgot to mention, that first area (Central Yarnham) was one of the toughest for me as well as I was completely new to the souls series. I died countless times trying to get to those werewolves. After a while, I just figured it out. A big tip is to lure enemies out 1 by 1 or 2 at the most. Use pebbles, your gun, get enemies attention, and run away, whatever you gotta do.
Yes, I do that as well. Molotovs too (probably a bad idea as I should save them for the boss, right?) I find it really difficult to aim with pebbles. When I get close enough with them so that I can aim, enemies usually already spot me. I usually try to lure them onto the stairs where they can't gang up on me from all sides, and I can hit multiple enemies in one swing.

Cross posting this from the patch thread.

Oh what the hell, the patch killed my pvp maidens. Now I can't get invaded in the two nightmare zones. I can invade, but I CANNOT get invaded. I also obviously didn't kill those maidens.

edit
I also remember ringing the invader bell would respawn the maiden on my pve character.

Is "Mojothehunter" a GAFfer? If she/he is, I want to give them credit for being amazing.

I was doing some PvP in Nightmare Frontier and came across the most genuine hunter imaginable. I love this community.

Seriously, watch the fight: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0pMD09CKwHU

I actually feel guilty in hindsight for using Numbing Mist, not that it really mattered.

Only way to get back is a hunters mark.

If you want to talk about broken hitboxes, the spiders were easily the worst I've seen. Their attacks in front of them also hit on the sides. It's very frustrating in later Chalice Dungeons.

Wow! So I was fighting
Micolash
during the first part of his fight when he goes to the corner. I hit him a bunch of times and then he somehow fell through the wall opening & was stuck running in place near the ceiling. I managed to hit the wall hard enough to have him drop and kill himself lol. First the
Rom
glitch now this one. I've been lucking out with these bosses lmao.

You need to jump from higher ledge on to in...run press 0

There's possible angle for me to do that. lol.

@ryuken-d and Netherscourge- I'll look around for others pathways, but I'm sure I searched everywhere. Unless maby try searching the other area down below?

In the forbidden forest there's an area with those kin enemies that's just a dead end. Is there a point go this? It kind of looks like you can come there from the other side too but I have no idea how.

There should be a ledge to drop down to on the left of the window. Over where there were 1 or 2 of those dog/bird hybrid fuckers. I thought I fell to my death for sure but just took a bit of damage.

I get Defiled Watchdog reliably down to 30%, but at that point I'm always getting too nervous and die stupid deaths. Need to calm down, need to calm down.

Running a alt character and upto VA fight.

I'm pretty overleveled right lol I don't remember being this high last time with my whip character. Also are the blood gems that increase scaling worth it ?

Because she has long tentacles. You need to treat her as if she's massive and a lot bigger than she looks. She's very wide so when she's charging I dodge a couple of more times than I normally would for a boss of her size just because of how her tentacles attack you. I don't really think she cheeses you like other people are saying.

You can come down from the other side as an alternate route to the pond.

In the forest where you fist pigs there's a giant tombstone near the center. Near that area There's a fallen log you can walk across and a body up on a ledge with an item. How do you get to that item?

edit: figured it out

since i hate when people 'figure it out' without posting the solution, the solution is:

You need to go around and up way higher -- there is an area where you can jump over a crevice that has those aliens below it. it's hard to describe where this crevice is -- it's near a fairly big monument. Follow the crevice and when you see an area you can jump to, that's it.

learn his tells for each type of attack, stay in front of him and dodge to his right. attack once or twice at a time and then get out of there and repeat

His moves are actually quite easy to dodge.

1) usually do not dodge backward. His reach can still hit you.
2) Dodge to his right side (you dodge left) when he raises his hand. You go right under him.
3) poison dagger can do somewhat ok damage.
4) fire paper is your friend.

Thanks for the tips guys.

Which dungeon?
Ailing Loran.

Found the way. I had to go to the open ledge where the crows are and jump over to another ledge and drop down. Tons of items on the first and second floor.

Thanks for trying to help my clueless ass guys.

=/

Yeah I always see the tentacle. It still feels like a disconnect to me in that instance. Her front slams and swings on the other hand, which also have great range, always feel like they match the geometry. The charge always feels off to me.

Where do you guys stand on Eileen's quest
requiring you to ignore her advice to keep her friendly and get the full quest
?

Personally I dislike things like that, especially when these games have NPCs turn hostile so often. I assumed that actually doing it would keep the quest alive for later, rather than essentially killing it

First time I've been burned by not using a tutorial

it's an easy spot to miss. I came back after doing another large portion of the game and didn't even realize you could find the
Rifle Spear
there

awesome, its good just to confirm your on the right track at least.

Ok, found the ledge to drop down on the aliens in the forest. Felt good even though there were no items.

Now I'm trying to find a way to the item above the grave robber set.speaking of which, is there a hat that goes along with it?

I really don't mind it, especially in the last bit of her quest. I feel like just about every character subverts expectations in some shape or fashion in these games. Whether it's how they look or what they say. It also fits her character and her lore. Hunting Hunters is not something one should do lightly and she has taken the burden on herself. She clearly doesn't want people to follow her path, though it's evident she can't walk it alone this time.

I think she's one of the best NPCs in any game in recent memory and I think the quest (and her dialogue) help reflect how bad things are this time around. Even a vet like her wasn't prepared for the horrors of this night. Maybe I'm weird, but I loved it. I also didn't use any kind of guide for her so I didn't know what was coming either.

bloodborneplattrophy24u8z.jpg

I finally did it and it took me long enough.
Ailing lower loren
chalice and the
defiled chalice
dungeon nearly made me to give up. Some of the hardest bosses in there! And without some good tactics people posted here I would not have been able to get my plat trophy. So thx to you guys.

Next step... wait for DLC.

I posted the solution earlier on the page. It requires a sprinting jump.

Same as you. This is not my first time here. I came back to kill the hunter on the roof. I couldn't do before. Glad I did. Between killing him and finding that secret room, I got some good weapons and gear.
