BLOODBORNE Spoiler Thread (read OP)

I wonder if this info about a specific covenant that came out some time ago is actually true.

Giant Spider has a covenant. You can 'kidnap' / incapacitate other players during invasions to take them into a dungeon in your own world where you play the boss. Players must escape your dungeon and are unable to leave until defeating the area boss (you, or an AI boss if they return offline / disconnect to escape).

also very curious to read impressions for the online system and
beast mode.

I'm doubtful. It's so intricate, so focused on the multiplayer components that nobody has experienced, yet we heard about it days before learning of several other more mundane covenants?

How would the player know that was the purpose of the covenant, or what happens to the
captured
host, before anyone played online? That seems like a hard thing to extrapolate from the typically cryptic dialogue featured in these games.

Haha I understand...

ok I was joking about the game on the floor stuff, but we just exchanged the game and money and it was over in 10 seconds.

Edit: I wanna kill myself because I want to play more, but I will get it on in about 8-9 hours at the earliest. :(((

Hitbox stream later though and after that finally on my twitch channel. :) I hope that some of you will join in again.

Are we allowed to post completion times?

I've been following the Reddit spoiler thread which keeps mentioning times like 45-51 hours. A buddy of mine who is reviewing the game for a site actually completed it twice. Now, he's a very experienced Souls player, so keep this in mind when I reveal his play time. He also never played DkS1 or DkS2 without a shield, which gave him a significant advantage in Bloodborne.

His first, completely blind playthrough clocked him
just over 23 hours
.

Now there are some caveats to that though, because even though he thought he was super thorough with exploring every area, he actually never even found a single covenant on his first playthrough. So apparently he wasn't thorough enough.

Obviously people's playtimes will vastly differ when it comes to games like this, but I feel like I should point out, if you're pretty good at Souls like games, you might see the credits a lot sooner than you think.

If I'm stepping over a line with this post, feel free to let me know and I'll take it down.

I always played slow in the previous Souls games so I'm not sure how long its going to take me to get use to being more aggressive.

Even when I played around with DW power stance in DKS2 - I'd often fall back to my sheild as a safety net once at a boss. Should be interesting in BB when I don't have that option anymore.

Well you can find the first one at almost the beginning of the game. :) So I guess he didn't really explore and just killed everything in sight. Many paths are so brutaly hidden that I missed so many things too till now. Thankfuly some folks from the chat helped me lol.

Well first thing first.. if you get hit, don't evade! Hit back and get your life back. You can always get about almost everything in health back by hitting the enemies after you got hit.

Sidestep dodge is glorious. I will never play with a shield again.

Does this area and the
prison
that you get
warped to
have other means of accessing besides at the hub? Or is the whole world not
connected?

I don't remember being warped to a
prison.
I think you get to the
Lecture Library
by completing the area that unlocks when you kill the
bug of the lake.

Trying to think back how I got there, but can't remember exactly.

Dammit GAF, look what you made me do..

I seriously need to stop visiting gaming forums. They are killing my wallet.

No more games until Witcher 3, though.

Well, maybe Shovel Knight...

I have no idea what I should level up now.

Vit 25
End 23
Str 24
Skill 10
Bloodtinge 7
Arcane 7

I know I love my two handed axe, and probably don't need more skill.

Any ideas?

Is the greatsword obtainable early in the game? I want to get it asap.

No it isn't.

First of all one point in endurance (even numbers give you more stat upgrades). After that go for Vit or Strenght (30)

Wow really? That's nuts. Even watching him play I honestly felt like he was so thorough. Damn this game! CAN'T WAIT! (even though I already spoiled a lot of things for myself lol)

Yes you can get it fairly early into the game, when the dude at the house in your dreams tells you about the pathway that opened in the Cathedral Ward when you warp there go to the right side and go up the tower, you will find a chest with the hunter badge at the top, this badge will allow you to purchase the sword. Think this opens up after you beat the 3rd boss, so quite early and it costs 20k souls

I'm guessing the STR requirement is higher than the Kirkhammer, and my dirtbag DEX build can't do anything with it?

Thanks alot for this info!

Edit: might also try that axe! Thx for the info everyone.

Now the wait for my collectors edition to arrive Wednesday is all that's left! Going into the game mostly unspoiled, can't wait!

SHIT! Killed the Doll while picking up my controller! Those triggers are mad sensitive.....

Streaming some grinding while I prepare to what seems to be the final boss. Quote to see.

Soo unsure about going skill (old Dex) or strength. The choice of strength was much easier for DS2, but with speed being a focus this time around skill seems a solid choice!

Does Walmart typically start selling new games at midnight? I'm probably not gonna go home until 12 tonight so was thinking about just stopping by Walmart and picking it up.

if he finished the game in only 23 hours he probably missed a lot of stuff. this game is huge from what I've seen.

it does sound very improbable but you never know with these games. no idea how this info leaked but I highly doubt that it came from dialogues.

Any word of a Patches NPC in this game. Probably one of the only things I haven't seen mentioned in the spoiler thread yet, although I've just been casually following along while getting my nibble on before the main course tonight.

I go back and forth too. My heart says skill, my brain says strength :(

Same!

I don't know the answer to this buy I'm going to guess there will be a lot of nods to Demons Souls.

So for those who have sinked lots of hours into this game, STR or DEX ? Which has the better weapons?

I'm doing a DEX build, as I felt like it fits best with the style of combat the game wants from the player.

Weapons wise, I'm switching between the threaded cane and saw blade, and both are pretty solid. Man, they really nailed the weapon transformations. Every single one has weight to it, and just feels visceral.

Do any of the weapons even have anything above a C scaling ranking? I haven't seen any upgraded weapons yet.
