BLOODBORNE Spoiler Thread (read OP)

And you only go hollow when you die, not when u summon. Like I said in my edit, you don't spend a humanity point for every summon, only to get into human form. If you don't die you don't need to use another humanity to summon again.

I see what you're getting at. It sounds like if you participate in online modes (co-op, invasions) this currency won't be difficult to come across. If you're just leeching off other players to beat bosses it could be a problem. It promotes people actively participating in online components instead of using it when they need it.

Well, yea but one of the ways to be human was to use humanity. I see no issue with this until further details come out. Especially since the details we do have suggest that you gain insight for discovery bosses (e.g. defeating bosses gives you humanity).

Keep in mind that you have no control over who comes to help you this time around, outside of the passcode system. If you're relying on randoms, you might get a noob who dies immediately after being brought in.
There goes a point of Insight.
Invader kills you by ganking you while you and your friends fight mobs?
There goes a point of Insight.

Maybe in the late game it'll become more plentiful, but the guy who played for 45 hours said he only found one of the consumables throughout the whole game.

Again: This is a good change. It forces people to play the game instead of cheesing it.

idk if i can't endlessly PVP then the replay value isn't infinite anymore. i really would like to know if there's going to be an arena found, or a sort of red eye orb or if it's going to be a constant pain to play pvp

You'll probably get a lot of insight from repeating Chalice Dungeon clears and that is probably going to be where pvp will be at.

We don't know if the invasion bell requires it. In fact, it seems more likely that invading is free and the winner of the fight gets a point of it.

If you want unlimited PvP, just leave the Bell Maiden alive in your world.

Wait, does time of day change continually in the game? I assumed it was contextual.

Not that I know of. It simply looks like they changed the look from the Alpha version, which was set at night.

is bell maiden a one time thing or does it respawn even after you've beaten area bosses? i don't know much about it but im interested. are invasion bells consumables ? difficult to obtain invasion bells?

As far as we know, the bell is unlimited use. The PvP info we got a while back suggested that the maiden spawns whenever you use either bell.

How often do new players not die in between bosses?

For most people on their first playthrough, wanting to summon help = using a humanity.

I've only read the OP in this thread as to avoid as much nonsense as possible, becaus eI wanted to know what the stats meant, and I still don't know. I don't know how they can be "souls" since each class starts with varying amounts.

From everything I've read about the game, blood echoes are indeed the same thing as souls in previous games. Each class get a starting amount to spend when you first start the game.

Can someone please help me. I have been excited for this game for some time. I love the art style, boss fights, etc. I played demon souls for a small while and did not have a fun experience. Will this game be just like that? I was hoping for a god of war, dmc type of game that was just slower paced.? And can anyone explain the rpg elements to the game and the consequences of death etc. thank you
Also is there a deep story arc to the game?

does anyone know more about what arcane and blood tinge mean, and can you also put that into context so I understand those stats?

Seems like blood tinge governs gun damage and arcane works with items like the firebomb. There might be more to it, but that's what we know so far.

It's far closer to Demon's Souls than DMC. Similar mechanics to Demon's Souls as well as similar difficulty. Slightly faster combat speed.

Same as the Souls games. Collect blood (currency), use it to level up. You can also use blood for a number of other things like purchasing stuff from vendors. If you die you lose all your blood and drop a bloodstain (it can also go to a nearyby enemy). If you make it back to your bloodstain (or kill the enemy that has it) without dying you regain your lost blood. If you die a second time without collecting it, you lose it forever. Also death respawns all the enemies.

Also is there a deep story arc to the game?

From what I hear it's like a Souls game. Crytpic and mostly told through NPC dialogue and item descriptions.

if that's true they sound like junkish stats, unless the game's a lot different and reliance on items to play is much higher. there must be more to it.

It honestly does seem like items play a much larger role. I think its a big reason why they changed the health to it's own dedicated slot. The firebombs do a good amount of damage. Also you need your gun for staggering enemies.

I just watched a stream that lasted about 45 minutes. It's Demons Souls. If you didn't like that, you won't like this. Or if you're like me and loved DS, you'll love this. Consequences of death are the same. You start over, lose your souls(blood) and all the enemies respawn. To get your stuff back you need to kill everything all over again until you
find and kill the enemy that killed you. Do that and you get your blood back.

Seems like no more hollow/soul form though or decreased health.

It's funny, I keep reading "slightly faster" from some folks and "2-3 times faster" from others.

Maybe they dual wielded Zweihanders while wearing Havel's set or something. I mostly play fast builds in Souls games, and the alpha didn't feel much faster to me.

It going to get interesting when people get good at dodging and from what we see you can teleport also , and then add in fast builds.
I think of the speed of the game not only going to come from attacking but dodging also , PvP should be fun .

Load times vary based on the situation. Any time player teleports to hunter's dream its relatively quick 5 - 8 seconds. But when teleporting from the hunter's dream into the environment it is a lot longer. When one dies though load times are less than 5 seconds.

How did I miss this? Some other posts made it sound like any load that isn't for the Hunter's Dream is 15+ seconds. Great to hear.

Missed the stream. :(

Tell me one of you recorded it!

It was pretty much just like the IGN 18 minute gameplay video, but the player was bad. When he first encountered the Cleric Beast he started running in fear lol, then he tried to hide hoping it didn't see him, but he died.
The fight lasted about 1 minute and then he was sent back to Dream Refuge. "Just a plain doll?" Yeah, about that...

you didnt miss much

i saw a half hour and its basically what weve seen countless times, the beginning area and cleric beast. he died at cleric beast so didnt advance past that

His reaction to the cleric beast coming in was awesome Nope.gif material though, and then he realized a fog gate was behind him :p Even better that he panned the camera at the end and noticed he couldn't get out haha.

I think many players who haven't been following news of the game will have some pretty expressive reactions to the Cleric Beast.

And Priest Gascoigne
, once he starts shooting. Then flips out his axe to a two-handed moveset. Then turns into a frenzied beast.

Can someone explain to me what the fuck is up with the harpoon launcher-looking thing

I...need it...

You get it
from killing hunter Gyula or however you spell it. He's the one with the huge chain gun behind him from a released pic and was in the launch trailer part that looked like PvP. Really hard to use apparently. The guy said it extends and has a charge.

oh man

First I was dead set on the kirkhammer. Then I saw the scythe. Now I see this...picking a weapon is going to be so tough... :(
