Borderlands 2 - PC Performance Thread

Word of warning I've not just had the greatest experience with spotflux. Downloaded it in prep for tonight and it worked fine to connect to US servers to unlock.

However disabling it to surf internet normally with UK ISP wouldn't connect at all apparently it's a known issue for Spotflux at the moment. Even uninstalling didn't work.

Had to do a system restore to get my normal internet connection back....

any other recommendations for VPN?

Here's a fix from their customer rep. http://support.spotflux.com/custome...ling-spotflux-disables-my-internet-connection

Hoping my old i7 920/HD5850/6 gigs triple-channel can handle this still at relatively high settings if not highest (no/absolute minimum phys-x of course) BL1/ME3/UT3 run like butter for me maxed out, but Bulletstorm really chugged a lot even after I lowered most things to near medium settings as far as UE3 games go.

Have there been any vids showing the difference between physics at medium vs high? I'm really hoping I'll be able to max it out and maintain 60fps on a 670, but that newegg vid showing dips into the 30's on a 660 doesn't leave much hope for that.

So we're clear, can you run Physx in software mode with this game? I know it let me do it with Arkham Asylum. Or at least it let me choose settings for Physx and I was able to run it on low with my 6970. I would rather try and run it with something on than nothing. It already looks clean as hell regardless of the extra Physx fluff.

Oh noes!!! My main PC just blew up. I have to run B2 on my backup which is a E6600/GTX295. LOL. I wonder how it will play on my 2560x1440 display?

Just (frustratingly) took the bullet and bought this.
One question.

Has it been confirmed whether or not there is PC Split-screen support and if not then have they commented on possible inclusion in the future?

Pretty sure split screen is console only.

I'd never use it, but it is pretty dumb that they never include split screen in PC games. I have a friend who already pre-ordered on Steam that intends to play it split screen with his cousin. I didn't have the heart to tell him he's fucked. He'll find out soon.

If it's anything like Borderlands 1, there will be a way to do split-screen for PC. If you have multiple monitors you could even have a 1 screen for each player. Played through a good bit of Borderlands 1 on PC that way.

I thought people got that working. Wonder how long it took last time.

Everything was already done engine-wise with BL1 3 years ago. They wanted to concentrate more on content than trying to create a DX10/11 graphical masterpiece.

Wait wait wait.....Borderlands 2 does NOT support DirectX 11????? Can anyone else confirm this?

Some of you guys in here hoping desperately for 60fps are nuts. I think everyone who posted recently will achieve that easily as long as you don't get carried away with extra AA stuff and shadows.

Hmmm, Crossing fingers for it to run well on the laptop.

Not getting my hopes up for Physx or anything, just buttersmooth experience with decent graphical level at 1360 x 768.

Well, my i7 740qm and my Geforce 445m (still doing ok in most games, as good as a 635m, so I'm all fine for the resolution).

The thing ran Sleeping Dogs and Darksiders II just fine, so I'm not too scared but still, I feel that I'm getting on the low-end of the currently sustainable gaming rig.

Still got an old desktop with a 460 GTX and a E8400, but that's not waaaayyy better and I scarcely get to us it.

Not way better? The desktop GTX 460 is easily 3x faster than the GT 445M.

how would it run on my Laptop, it's got an i5, 4GB ram and an HD5870m

High settings, especially if you overclock your 5870M to stock 5770 clocks.

I'm really hoping my card can maintain 60 fps while supersampling from 2560 x 1600. I'm hoping to use a mix of forced MSAA and supersampling so I can avoid using FXAA.

Getting 60fps with everything maxed (no fxaa, can't stand the blur) on a 670. Fov moved to 100 for my tv, was getting motion sickness on the default setting (90).

I am destroying the game.

Playing at 2560x1600 with Physx High, everything else maxed and was averaging 130-150 fps with a GTX 690. Ended up limiting my frames to 72 just because there's no need for any higher performance and additional GPU heat. VRAM usage was around 500MB. Still early of course.

Playing with everything maxed out and was even able to pull Physx on medium with an AMD card, was getting average of 60 FPS and some drops around 45 when there is some blood/particles with Physx.

Good enough for me! Also I think I'll be downsampling this from 1440p since the framerate is so smooth.

Found these to be the perfect FOV/HUD settings for me.

Can someone please tell me if the PC version offers offline co-op over LAN connection?

The Destructoid review says it's not possible.

They couldn't possibly have released this game with both no splitscreen AND no LAN gameplay, could they?

Running incredibly good on my setup (120+ FPS) with everything max. To be expected though. :)

Only thing is I can clearly see texture loading. Is this common with UT3 games?

There is a LAN setting under network options on the main menu.
