Those all come out around the same time, there should be at least something in there..
J-Rzez said:Heh, I agree. It's unfortunate for many other devs that U2 hit, making their work look let's just say vastly less attractive. It's a shame MAG got pushed back to Jan. If it didn't, I wouldn't even bother renting/buying used MW2. Unfortunately, I need a shooter fix, and I need to make my teammates cry (yes, it happened more than once lol) through verbal terrorism :lol[

Eh, I don't think it's that cut and dry. Sure, Infinity Ward is the top developer of the biggest franchise right now, but Treyarch proved they can develop a worthy sequel that still sells bucketloads. If World at War had completely bombed, I think Infinity Ward would have more power. Right now, they're still at Activision's mercy.strem said:I'm not gonna let IW off the hook so fast. They are a big and powerful developer who can tell Activision that this is BS. But they are playing ball so screw them to.
I remember listening to an interview with a lead from COD4 on a podcast and how they were gonna support COD4 like no game has ever been supported before. 2 or 3 map packs later and that was all.
Its really sickening because this whole thing is about sucking a bit more money out of everyone.
Vercingetorix said:And? I don't buy or play many games by GAF standards but I still like a new game every 2 years. Hell, I like a lot more than one new game every 2 years.
COD4 may have a lot of replayability, but my friends and I are tired of the maps and weapons by now and want to see something new. MW2 fits the bill perfectly.
Kai Ozu said:I dont really qualify this as a completely new game, new maps and weapons sounds like something that could be distributed via DLC. Im happy for the people that are super hyped about this game, I just dont understand it.
Mr.Snrub said:Hell, maybe I'll just buy COD4 used instead.
So a completely new campaign that seems to be hugely upgraded, and improved, from every other Call of Duty, combined with tons of new features in multiplayer and new weapons and maps should be distributed by DLC? You just broke the entire philosophy of sequels and franchises.Kai Ozu said:I dont really qualify this as a completely new game, new maps and weapons sounds like something that could be distributed via DLC. derder said:I'm pretty sure buying it used through gamestop is a greater evil than buying it new anywhere.
I don't think anyone considers it a "new" game. Before the irrational hate spewed up over the PC/PS3 versions, the official thread had pretty much turned into "yay it's like cod4... yay".Kai Ozu said:I dont really qualify this as a completely new game, new maps and weapons sounds like something that could be distributed via DLC. Vercingetorix said:Doesn't PSN have some kind of quick mute feature as well? On Xbox Live I rarely run into talkative morons online, but when I do games usually have quick ways of muting them. That and the glorious "mute all-non friends" option.
painey said:Every time a new CoD comes out, I buy it, play it through on normal, realise what a completely awful fucking gameplay model it has, and then get rid of it. This will be no exception.
MMaRsu said:Hey guys.. so after Kotick's remarks, and the recent no dedicated servers for PC debacle, I have decided to say fuck you to IW/Activision by buying used. This will be a hard thing to do for me personally, because a lot of my XBL friends are going to bitchslap my ass for not buying it day one. If I can get it day one used, then hell yeah I will. Doesn't really matter if it costs me close to a new copy.
I know especially Eric WK is going to bitch to me about this but whatever.. Borderlands will do fine till I can get this second hand. I was hoping some more people would do the same and support the cause.
Let it be known that I have nothing against the IW devs in particular, I mean they work hard on this game but yeah.. the publisher doesn't give a fuck about it's customers, and apparently neither does IW about the PC customers ( where the company has it's roots ).
Vercingetorix said:Son of Godzilla posts "lulz nobody thinks this is a real new game" directly after people post about how it is obviously a new game.:lol
Try harder. Really.
The developers can swear up and down about how non-assy the campaign is, and that this time they really mean it, or about how there's buckets of exciting new ways to bling out your killscreen in multiplayer, the game is still pretty much the same game. Most people have accepted this and are still excited.Vercingetorix said:Son of Godzilla posts "lulz nobody thinks this is a real new game" directly after people post about how it is obviously a new game.:lol

Linkzg said:Um, are you dyslexic? he's making the point that the reason people hype this up from videos is because it seems exactly like CoD4. It's no different than the L4D2 defense of "L4D was awesome; L4D2 is more L4D; therefore, L4D2 is awesome." It's also similar to CoD World at War being considered a WW2 mod for CoD4.

hey dude now would be a gud time 2 mention that buying br%263tal legend instead of this is a good way to stick it to activison.MMaRsu said:So you think IW has no control over this? :lol :lol :lol
Of course they have a plan, and this is it. By disabling dedicated servers, they have full control of what content people can play. Previously, any DLC maps would have been available as custom maps for free on dedicated servers. They've finally found a way to milk PC gamers.Minamu said:Sigh, I'm just saying that we are not yet privy to all the information. You don't think IW have a plan behind ditching modding- & dedicaded server support? I'm sure it'll work out just fine in the end. Not buying the PC version because there's no dedicaded servers doesn't seem like a smart move to me, that's all.
MMaRsu said:So you think IW has no control over this? :lol :lol :lol
IW was like, yeah we are doing this for the best of the community :lol
Well, when you put it like that, it sounds really awesome for IW tbh :lol Except for the last part.Ultimatum said:Of course they have a plan, and this is it. On the down side, tens of thousands more people will be pirating the PC version.
Don't know how long you've been playing shooters online on PC. I myself have played less and less online, but I used to be quite into it, and let me tell you, dedicated servers have historically been THE groundstone for online communities. This is a simple fact.Minamu said:Sigh, I'm just saying that we are not yet privy to all the information. You don't think IW have a plan behind ditching modding- & dedicaded server support? Pretty much what I'm gonna do. Same thing I did with CoD4. Picked it up used for about $40 from someone. Played through single player. Sold it a few months later to EB for $37. I really don't have interest in multiplayer as none of my friends play it anyway.Rez said:I'll be buying it used in any case. I admire Infinity Ward's work, don't get me wrong, but it just isn't the sort of game that gets me in an "omg day one" mood. They're super fun games that never really have anything all that remarkable about them, although COD4 is the best of its kind.
I know I'll get a decent couple of hours of fun out of it in the end. 'Big dumb shooters' have their place on my shelf.
MMaRsu said:That is also true but hey I don't want to look like I'm shilling the game. Lots of posters have already said that I am fucking annoying with my shitty threads ( only made two brutal legend threads :lol ).
But yes, buying Brutal Legend instead of this ( which Activision dumped because they didn't think it had exploitation potential ) is a good way of sticking it to them. However I do not think the majority of the Call of Duty fanbase would be a fan of Brutal Legend.
I don't want to tell people what to do with their money though.
It sounds like the DRM will primarily be Steam based ala Saints Row 2 and Dawn of War 2.Firestorm said:Pretty much what I'm gonna do. Same thing I did with CoD4. Now that I have a nice PC I might get it on PC though. I wonder how the DRM works? Can you lend out MW2 or buy it second hand?
