Console games don't ever have dedicated servers except for a few PS3 games I think. That's why they enjoy the PC versions. There's no point going to console for the same online experience with downgraded visuals and controls.

I bought 2 copies of CoD4 (1 PS3 & 1PC), the PC version specifically for MP after trying the MP full of undelivered potential on consoles.

I will not be buying new copies of MW2. I'm simply going to wait until it's used and heavily discounted (possibly by next Xmas if not later), and then I'm just going to trade it in again and pass it on.

If I can hold off on buying World at War to this very day, I can certainly hold off on buying MW2. There are plenty of games to keep me busy in the meantime.

I'm all for boycotting this game for the reason of no dedicated servers, but for the ppl buying it used, you're not really doing much. That tells them "hey, ppl still want our game."

I won't be buying this at all, more for the reason of no interest though. I typically don't give money to ppl that screw with me (dont buy DD titles that don't use real money, for example.)

Now I will just get tossed with some randoms in a map and all maps and modes will get some play. More variety. I rarely play on custom maps or with mods etc. so its not a huge loss for me really.

That's my problem with games with no dedicated servers. I usually find a good server that I do decent in and stick with it. I hate matchmaking. I always play on vanilla servers, but I really like finding a good server where the community is good, low tolerance for dickwads, and high emphasis on teamwork. Although like I said, I don't play CoD for multiplayer, but this is just what I like about dedicated servers on PC and never play competitive multiplayer on consoles (co-op or bust).

Do you have some kind of condition that prevents you from learning from past experiences or something?

just because the core gameplay is horrid (constant respawns until you hit a checkpoint, and pathetically accurate enemies on high difficulties) doesnt mean it isnt enjoyable. (apart from Brutal Legend) The sniper mission in CoD4 is one of my highlights of this gen, but I have no desire to play the multiplayer and going back on Legendary is about as fun as rubbing your cock against a chunk of wood and then counting the splinters.

That's more like it, all this buying it used nonsense is a fudge, as they'll get you in the end. Whether that's with some DLC some map packs or new game modes. :lol

So you buy it used. You take the used copy off the shelf. The next person that comes in and was gonna buy used, can't. He's now forced to buy new. Activision still gets the sale. Buy or don't buy. But buying used isn't a boycott.

Then there's also the fact that you're advertising the game for Activision for free by simply playing it. It has been discussed many times on GAF, but XBL/PSN friends lists act as free advertising as a lot of time peer pressure will kick in and you'll want to play what your friends are playing. So you may buy it used, but it just gets canceled out when a person on your list who wasn't going to buy it ends up grabbing it (more than likely new) thanks to the fact that so many people on their list are playing it. Maybe if all you "used" warriors didn't buy it at all and instead played something else you would prevent that free advertising and have a much better chance of actually sticking it to Activision.

That said, if it's a good game and you want it then buy it. Activision puts out plenty of shit for you to avoid.

10 000 people on internet forums claiming to do something in real life probably equates to 17 people actually doing said thing in real life.

Some console games have dedicated servers, Battlefield Bad Company, Battlefield 1943, Section 8, etc.

Most of them aren't that popular online, DICE has had tons of trouble getting enough servers up to keep things smooth. P2P so far has been way more popular on consoles.

I'm buying MW2 for what it is on the console version. I'm a big PC gamer, but I would not buy that version now if I had planned to before. This game sounds great on a console, but I don't know anymore about PC. $60 and no dedicated servers? If anyone hasn't played a game like Team fortress 2 on PC, do so. You'll see exactly why dedicated servers are really important.

Now I'm all for ditching my MW2 once BF:BC2 comes out..but even that is really limited in game modes no?

I guess EA's console dedicated servers for the BF series isn't all that bad anymore. they really do need to fix their matchmaking tho.
