Bravely Default Demo Out Now on European E-Shop

Beat the turtle boss. Had to teleport to the dungeon entrance and rush to the inn, lol. That was intense. My WM was dead and my other characters were all on the bring of death. Said: Screw ths! And went all brave with the remaining characters. Thought I would die either way, but I actually managed to fell the beast with one of the last attacks.

The game is in sleep mode for now. I really think I need better gear for the next boss.

I made a few mistakes getting started (didn't see the Red Mage job, which I should have used first for my mage , wasn't paying attention and bought a Level 3 spell instead of level 1 to start with) and didn't run into serious problems until I hit Minotaur.

The difficulty curve is pretty erratic: you start of with the damn cats one-shotting you with Aero , then once you get a few levels under your belt things settle down a bit, the bosses are challenging, then you get to the 3rd dungeon and things get hard again , then the 4th Boss laughs at your pathetic attempts to defeat him.

New annoyance: Deathstalkers. They keep summoning more of them and they have insane amounts of HP. This fight will never end at this rate.

Fire or Fira > all, try to kill them all in the same turn. (use brave x 4 will help also)

Sure am, at least when I can. How can I use level 3 spells? I'm a level 3 black mage and have bought the Fira spell but can't use it in battle. Wish they'd explain all this a bit better. Same story with my level 3 white mage, she can't use Esuna despite it being a level 3 spell as far as I can tell.

You get access to tier 3 magic when you max out a job which is level 4.

Managed to max out the armour and weapon place in the village :D

I don't understand this game at all! I chose 4 classes Knight, Ninja, White Mage and Valkyrie, and I'm just getting destroyed by kobolds dealing 60hp on average..

There's something I'm missing but what is it?

Does anyone have an idea how to kill chompers near the southern dungeon ? I get my ass handed and I only deal them 1 PD each strike. Thanks god they flee eventually but I would like to win a battle against them.

When you level up your Valkyrie job, you will get an ability called Crescent Moon which is super effective against them. Make sure you equip your Valkyrie with a decent weapon.

My main problem was the fact that the characters are all running around fighting in what is essentially their casual clothes.

Better armour was my first priority. (As well as a second dagger for Ninja Tiz)

Which area are the kobolds in ?, I have noticed that gear makes a lot of difference also, its worth making some money in the desert and gearing up first.

Kobolds? Did you went straight into a dungeon?

You should farm the desert at first to complete the first couple of quest and then go where the next quest will tell you to. You should be leveled up enough by then to handle what the game is throwing at you.

Man this demo is so great! But I wish village progress would transfer to full release, since going through all that with one villager.. takes so much time. :c

Looking at Gamefaqs, it doesn't look like it can. The Nolende in the Demo and the Full Game are different locations, different rewards and different times to clear obstacles. I suspect most of the stuff that's found in Nolendedin the demo is normal shop equipment in the game. I need to find someone to streetpass with so I can build up 20 villagers before the game comes out. It looks like it takes ridiculous amounts of time to build up Nolende, mitigated only by connecting to the internet and getting 1-3 villagers a day.

Will tell you about the reward after I've recieved more, do the quests, easier way to get money than "grinding". Poison you can heal yourself with antidotes or use poisma, just make sure one of your characters have a set skill to use at least level 1 white magic.

How are you two playing atm? Might be easier to understand why you are dying, are you taking advantage of the Bravely, Default system?

Thanks.

I have been using the Bravely Default system but I guess I haven't been using it well? I do think I'm getting used to it now.

I've been having the most trouble with enemies using magic against me. It one shots me every single time. I'm playing on easy now and things have been going better, feels wrong though. I just hope the main game eases you more into things.

Those white cats took me be surprise. Always make sure to kill them first.

GAF...please help me figure out how to play this game.
I started on Normal and noticed there are jobs, looking at each characters equipment, I notice that one guy has a spear and the girl in black uses a dagger/knife.
I got wasted by the Mushrooms in the foggy purply area which I ASSUMe is where I must go as my main objective.

Should I spend a few hours level grinding and to farm cash so I can purchase spells and equipment?

The Girl with the Dagger is best suited as a Mage, I'd recommend starting with a Red Mage (and buying either another sword or a rod). For the others, they work pretty well in the class that goes with their equipment for their first Job (Knight for Sword, Valkyrie for Spear, Swordmaster for Katana). You can buy spells from a shop in town, note that the spells are backwards (ie the highest level spells, that you can't use yet, display first).

The mushroom area is the 2nd dungeon. You should get a quest in town, do it , then move onto the next quest. The desert is easier than the first dungeon (cave), which is easier than the 2nd dungeon (forest), which is easier than the third dungeon (tower).

Just beat the Dragon, but holy shit at the Automaton -.-

If you have a laptop or wireless USB adaptor you can set up a virtual streetpass hotspot. I got 15 villages and it took no time, I think the demo said villagers/street-passes will transfer over to the full version.

Defeated the first demo boss.. very fun battle. The brave/ default points system in this works so much better than the points in 4 heroes of light.

OK got my characters to decent levels and got some good equipment for them. Guess I'll go over to the forest now and grind for cash and exp to get the more expensive stuff then press on forward >=3

Hat Minotaur is destroying me so badly, I can't figure out when he uses his braves. Is there any indicator for it? He just starts one hitting my party with his double damage attacks.

I have had to pretty much stop playing and just wait hours and hours for shop upgrades now. None of the equipment I have is good enough to take on the dragon yet. Waiting 10 hours now for the weapon shop to reach level 3 :/

Beat the Dragon, but there's no way in hell I'm going to beat the Automatron with his 750hp self heals lol. Waiting hours for shops to upgrade is kinda lame, happy there's a way to get villagers through the internet in the full version.

Do you actually gain stats when leveling up? I didn't see any changes, but I only checked four stats of Agnes during one level up.

Whenever he has 0 turns left (not -1, not -2) he unleashes three attacks in a row. Make sure all your companions default at that moment.

Beat the Demo, last boss was fairly easy. Well, mostly because of ridiculous skill combinations.

There is another boss after the Dragon btw.

You can also use "Squeaky Wheel" which is a swordmaster skill to knock their BP down, this is the only way I could beat the Dragon.

Correct. It works 30% of the time but I've used it during the combat.
Btw, is there a boss after the Minotaur ?

edit : oh...

Look at his BP. When it is at 0BP default immediately. Be sure to have reviving items or Raise. Beat him on my first try. Two dual-wielding valkyries, one black mage and one white mage. Beat him on my first try.

Yea
the quest for it is night time only.
I don't think it is, the Minotaur quest is the one that's night time only.
Dragon quest is given to the guy you first speak to in the intro.

Does changing the 3DS clock affect village upgrade times?

Oh yea my bad.

I doubt it, I put the 3DS in sleep mode last night on the title screen and the village didn't change, I then put the 3DS in sleep mode whilst in game and it changed.

So I assume this means you have to actually be in game for the timer to change.

How in the cosmos am I supposed to beat the Dragon. What an unlikeable foe. He keeps beating my ass like it was some Stalin poster.

Played the demo a bit last night. The art syle is fantastic for everything, especially the environments. It's obvious the production values for this thing are threw the roof, but ehhhh, that combat system and structure. I can safely say I hate it.

This is where I am at the moment. I'll give it another try tomorrow.

Why is this game so hard? Am I not getting how to play it?
It gets easy once you figure out that you can "brave" your attacks, which is just stacking all of them in a round --> You get to hit the foes four times in a row !

Do that with all four characters at the start of a battle and you're done (at least you pray 'cause you are left undefended the next three rounds if a villain survives).

I realised the whole brave/default things, the enemies still seem sorta intense even near town though.

Enemies with magic, will likely need to be taken out faster, unless you are equipped with higher magic defense equips/a job with high magic defence. As they take less damage etc.
Why is this game so hard? Am I not getting how to play it?

How are you playing it? Are you taking advantage of the Bravely Default system?

Pretty simple for the battle system, Defaulting works like defending in that you can build up BP (max Brave Points possible is 3, lowest is -3) and Braving allows you to use those points so you could take more actions per turn. At most you can do is four actions per turn. In the event your BP hits the negatives, that character’s turn is passed until they reset to 0. Some classes like the Red Mage class have passive abilities that allow them to regain BP faster, but for the most part, you’d have to wait up to a total of 2 - 3 turns if you’re at -3. The BP system applies to enemies as well, who can Brave as well as Default, by the way.

How do you mean? Also be sure to go into the shop and buy some spells, specifically poisma as thaat will help alot against the snakes.

What a pain in the ass :( I guess it wouldn't matter if you had loads of street passes (or in the full game since you can get spotpass ones) but this is gonna be a long wait...
