yeah, it's always gray to poison an innocent child with a deadly poison so that you could get your ass out of something you put yourself in

I seriously could not have asked for a more entertaining series of defenses. You guys have delivered, genuinely. I'm glad you think these things because there's no way this would have been as fun without this stuff.

I can go to bed happy.
Whatever man, it's a waste of time talking to you.

Horseshit. No one proposed Walt used Ricin. Everyone was suggesting he used the flowers, accept your ban like a man, or fly to my domicile and tell me how my ass taste. The choice is yours.
I didn't do a ban bet, breh. I said I was in the camp that "if new info came to light", I would believably switch. And new info = not ricin.

SUCK IT BRO

They did the same goddamn thing last season. "Yeah, we have no idea what we're gonna be doing next season but wasn't the last five minutes awesome?!" And since they wrote themselves into this corner, they have nowhere else to go but Walt v. Jesse and how ever they'll end up approaching it, it won't top what was done in the same vein 3 years ago.
but wasn't that last 5 minutes awesome?

Oh my god. Series finale cold open: Walt/Brock flashback.

BEST SHOW FUCKING EVER.
Yeah, how the fuck did he pull that off. Saul's guy totally lifted the pack from Jesse in the frisk scene, we know that much.

You all could have gotten rid of me, instead you're stuck with very very thorough Detective Jesse fanfic until next season.

I think they did too much "epic" music leading up to gus's death. They should have played it straight.

Man, it must really be something for skylar. She's not really in the loop, just knows her husband is a meth cook, and to find out exactly what he is truly capable of must be some earth shattering shit.

Walts theme should be Jay-z "say hello (to the badguy)"

By the way, I knew definitively that Walt poisoned Brock when he sent the neighbor over. I honestly think that Amir0x is 100% correct. There's no grey area anymore.

Brock was bad. Sending his next door neighbor over for a bullet to the face or a leg full of bomb is way worse. That, to me, was his lowest moral point.

Re-watching it now, Tio's board of letters method of communication is going to make re-watching parts of this episode incredibly tedious...
that's kind of the point, though. the entire history of the cartel has to add up to something for the audience.

They always do this to themselves at the end of the season. I just wonder if it'll actually be revealed that he was the mastermind behind it, if the camerawork was just implying but not condemning, or what.

Technically, and they may use this, it was never actually shown how he was poisoned. Whatever direction they take that in is yet to be seen.

Also, I do wonder what direction next season will go in though. Walt v. Jesse will happen at some point, but that was almost this whole season too, to some extent.

I already miss Gus. This season made me like him so much and then he dies in such a silly way

Seriously! That's what was so fucked up about Walt's plan! You knew Gus didn't deserve to get taken out by this chump!!

One of the few original elements this show has and that I'm glad they really developed tonight, is Skylar's involvement in Walt's criminal life. "I won" wouldn't have been half as effective said to any other character.

That's the biggest loose end here too. It was never stated how the kid actually was poisoned, just that he was, and that it was from that flower that's in his backyard. Now I do think Walt did it, but the question is how? How the hell did he get the kid?
Not sure if this has been mentioned but did anyone else notice that the papers Saul's secretary shredded were of a school schedule with certain times underlined?

Here let's lay out all the stuff that's still unsolved:

-Jesse not knowing Walt let Jane die
-Jesse not knowing Walt poisoned Brock
-Hank not knowing Walt is Heisenberg
-Mike's fate
-Ted's fate (unless I missed something, I don't think he's dead but probably a vegetable?)

What else am I missing...

That actually made me look around, cause the people upstairs are always doing that shit. lol

Not a huge fan of this one. There's nothing to defend though, it's just a TV show. Certainly not going to be a dick to anyone that liked it.....
I mean, it was crazy and epic but what we got isn't what I like about the show so much.
Insane that the twist was that crazy pic being real...ffs

This poster pulses with an appeal so broad the typical restraints of our societies fall by the wayside.
Great finale. It wasn't as shocking or devastating as last season's, though, and it was actually quite jarring to see it end on somewhat of an optimistic note (though not that cut and dry, of course). The scene when Gus arrived at the hospital, and that music started playing — my heart was pounding. And then of course, his moment of realization that he had walked into a trap was incredible.

My girlfriend is really bummed because she liked Gus, and now says she's gonna have nightmares thanks to his final image (she hates eye-related violence/trauma). I liked Gus, too, of course, but with the way the season had gone, I knew he wasn't going to make it to the next; the show couldn't continue to exist for another 16 episodes with Walt under his gun. I also felt all along that with the way Hector was used in this season, that he would somehow have something to do with Gus' final moments.

Was it the way he died? Or was it the means they used to kill him.

I just can't get over how dumb that 2-face/tie adjustment thing was. If he just got blown the fuck up I probably wouldn't mind it much.

Blinded by the luminous glory that is David Bowie's physical manifestation.
I'm thinking Walt
put some of the water with lily of the valley in it in a vase
apparently, that is poisonous and would be inconspicuous enough to hide it under.

Of course, this also begs the question that Ash should've just had Pikachu stuff LoV in Oynx's mouth to defeat Brock instead of water.

Don't forget about this guys:

Speaking of this season as a whole, creator Vince Gilligan will be breaking down the entirety of season 4, episode by episode, exclusively on the A.V. Club this coming week. Join me over there, won't you?

Oh I thought that was the sickest thing ever. That shot? The reveal? Beautiful.

Especially thematically. You're first thought is "WHAT THE FUCK he is a FUCKING ROBOT" and then pan around.

All too human.

Location: The lily of the valley is found in western North America, mainly in the northern Rocky Mountain States along the Pacific Coast, in the Midwest, and in Canada. This spring-flowering plant is also native to Britain, especially in the eastern parts.

The white bell-shaped flowers of the lily of the valley are well known, however, the plant occasionally bears orange-red, fleshy berries, which are lesser known to the general public.

Effects and Symptoms: Symptoms of ingesting the berries produced by the lily of the valley include hot flushes, tense irritability, headache, hallucinations, red skin patches, cold clammy skin, dilated pupils, vomiting, stomach pains, nausea, excess salivation, slow heartbeat, sometimes leading to coma and death from heart failure.

Also Bonus: There is absolutely no way to tell how an individual will react to the poison, some people have allergic reactions that make it even worse, some people will feel relatively few effects. So not only was Walt making a huge gamble with an extremely dangerous poison (which the show suggests almost DID kill Brock - thus the relief on Walt's face at the end), but he did it only to save his own ass. Instead of taking responsibility for his actions, he poisoned an innocent child.

Man he did so many reprehensible things this episode it was delectable. It almost makes the absurd Gus shot worth it so we could once and for all put aside the debate about Walt's sympathetic nature. Now we know people who think he is sympathetic are insane and can laugh about it amongst ourselves with little to no possible recourse.

Now that I think about it this is the only season to have ended on an optimistic note.

Oh, come on. You're thinking when he steps out "FUCK, he somehow survived--"

(camera pan)

--"Wait..."--

(Two-face)

D: "HOLY FUCK WHAT THE FUCK! D: D: D:"

(death)

... "FUCK YEAH!"

I also thought that the panning in on the flower at the end was actually very sweet. The heart of all these violent/risky operations lies a few pretty flowers.

Remember Saul was dropping off weekly bags of money to Andrea?

I agree with the AVclub review:

I’m sure some will take issue with the fantastic depiction of Gus’s demise, but I loved it. A character this iconic deserves a mythic death, realism be damned.

Also, I can't wait until Mike strolls back into town and sees who the fuck came out alive.
