Oh he still has a moral compass, it's just a completely fucked up one.

Think about it: Would you yourself, when you know people are gunning for you, go back into your own house by yourself and possibly be gunned down or would you see what happens if you sent an innocent person in.

Answer this honestly and put yourself in Walts shoes. Don't go "DERP HE'S STILL A TERRIBLE PERSON AND WAS GOING TO GET THAT OLD WOMAN WACKED." Yes, that may have been possible, but he was checking to see if his ass was going to get wacked in return.

Walt is shades of grey. He's not a good person, but he isn't a bad person either and if you think about it in his perspective and within the shows writing rules/rails, you'd probably do the same thing in the situation.

Now that Gus is dead, I'm 100% team Hank. Dude is gonna wreck shit next season. He really is the only 'good' person on the show.
I expect Breaking Bad to end with a face off with Hank and Walt - and Hank "breaks bad" and lets him go.

Gus' infallible need to rub it in Tio's face didn't strike you as a point of his character?

i'm genuinely confused right now.

How is his face getting blown off and a goofy tie-straightening gag rubbing anything in Tio's face? I'm not complaining about the way he died, I thought that was perfect. It's the ridiculous shot at the end that I find out of place.

I thought the scene with Gus was incredible. If in reality a 17 y/o kid can take 3 shotgun blasts to the arm, head and chest, then stand up and wander around until he gets taken to the hospital and ultimately survive, then someone as badass as Gus can walk away from a bomb blast and fix his tie with half a face. It would've sucked if he just turned into dust.

Oh me too. Hank is going to go full detective mode and connect the dots and find his Heisenberg for sure.

The final question is whether he will take down Walt at the end. I think he will. No question. Will it be a final death or prosecution though? Can't wait to find out how this monster Walt ends his career.

The show has been about turning Mr. Chips into Scarface, and everybody knows Scarface dies at the end

Coming there and asking him why the hell he went to the DEA and then essentially telling him a real man wouldn't do that doesn't strike you as in the same vein as he had done before?

He thought Tio sold out and went to call him on it regarding their principles as Cartel/Gus people, and then to take him out.

I found this interesting in the NYTimes interview:

Also, why the fixation on the toxicity level of the plant? It's a freaking plant that people obviously put outside in their yards where kids/dogs can accidentally eat it. My dogs have been poisoned by accident by eating a plant before, it happens. Obviously Walt did it but don't play stupid like Walt has no moral compass where he now can kill anyone even kids. No, if that was possible why would he go back home for 25,000 dollars to pay Saul's secretary to tell him where he is? Why doesn't he just 'force it' out of her? Exactly, just give it up, sheesh.

And this explains how it leaked, pretty much:

Q. Months?

A.
Really, months. That one shot where the explosion happens, and then you dolly in on Gus, is actually two shots: the explosion happened in one take, and then the shot revealing Gus – it took me 19 takes to get it right. But we did use Take 19. That was no fault of the actors. That was me being a little persnickety as a director. The big, bravura part of the effect is obviously Gus’s face, what’s left of it, but to me it’s just as amazing how the visual effects guys married the two shots together so that there’s literally no seam between. There’s smoke, but you don’t see the cut in between. It’s just amazing what they’re capable of doing these days.

What are you talking about? I haven't brought up any of that as being dumb. It's specifically the shot of Gus after the explosion I find retarded.

will totally Facebook friend you! *giggle* *LOL*
I think if Hanks goes after Walt now, he's gonna die. Jesse is gonna find out what happened, come close to killing Walt, then he will die. Walt will beat everyone, but still lose somehow in the end. Ending this season with "I won." signals pretty hard that they're going to give Walter White every single thing he wants until he's in the position to lose everything all at once. Only a matter of how, now.

Yes, and that's why this scene sticks out so terribly.

I don't get how somebody briefly surviving an explosion is a departure from tone any moreso than remnants of a plane clash raining down upon Walt's house after he's caused Very Bad Things to happen.

I missed the original run and just finished watching the repeat.

I honestly could not believe Walt could poison the kid. Is there anyone that defended him? That's a new low. I wonder if Jesse will ever learn about all the shit Walt has done.

And the scene was Gus was dumb. He even adjusted his tie, come on now.

Because one would have been goofy as hell in a Michael Bay movie and the other is horrifying? Try to guess which one!

Tons of people! It is exactly as amazing as you'd think too. I love GAF so much.

No question that's where the show is leading. Jesse has to turn against Walt in the end completely.

I thought you were speaking more about why was Gus rubbing anything in his face. Oh well.

Because you think it's not believable.

It is believable, and plausible.

I'm not gonna do it, but feel free to look up gore videos, you'll see how much people can do in shock.

Ha ha ha WOW!!

WALT YOU SON OF A BITCH.

Q: The creativity and imagination on this show is mind-boggling. Does your creativity come from anyone in particular (family, teachers, etc.)? -- William C

A (Vince Gilligan): My mom was a great inspiration. In fact, you'll glimpse her in the last episode of the season -- she plays Becky Simmons, Walt's next door neighbor.

Looking forward to this so much. Let's have the Emmys give Esposito his due this year - Paul (and Norris) should have incredible material coming up for him.

We know that..but Jesse doesn't. Eventually he's going to think about it.

Well right now he thinks that Brock probably accidentally stumbled on the plant since the Doctors told him it is commonly owned in yards and households.

But eventually, Jane and Brock are going to be unveiled to him as the needless victims of Walter White's monstrous narcissism and survival instinct. I can't wait. I hope Jesse IS the one to kill Walt, for all the shit that man has brought to his door step.

It was a marvelous way for him to go out, IMO.

How would you have liked to have seen him go out?

Not as a cartoon character. The brothers pulling a 'cool guys don't look explosions' was one thing, but that was too much. I might have warmed up to if he didn't adjust his tie. Ugh.

I'm guessing the cold opening of Season 5* is Jesse/Ugs listening to Barrack talking about who gave him the berries.

*what am I talking about, this is the last season.

So is anyone else wondering about the Ted situation?

What about it? I didn't think there was any question that he's dead.

I'm not sure if I would prefer Jesse or Hank to cause Walt's downfall (not necessarily death). Either one would be pretty satisfying.

They missed a few incredibly obvious chances to confirm whether he's dead or in a hospital. It's pretty clear that they're leaving it open for the writers.

I know that, but in regards to it not being brought up again. Then again, I guess you could chalk it up to the last two episodes being within the span of two days, and the fake cartel warning sending everything into high gear. I guess I would've liked to have seen a mention of it, or something.

Aaron Paul has killed it so hard already, I can't even imagine what kind of Land Speed Acting Records are going to get broken when Jesse finds out about Jane and Brock.

Yeeeikes.

Who on earth has sympathy for Gus outside of a single flashback?

I feel for him. He worked hard, took care of his friends, and tried to keep his word.

Those are admirable qualities in a drug dealer.

Amazing episode. Not sure where the hell they go next season other than Mike making it back from Mexico with a number of questions as to what the hell happened. Then there is the implication at the end of the episode as to what Walt did, despite never really showing an opportunity to do that on screen.

And where the hell did that cigarette go? Bring on season five!
