Yep. The fact that I can look at Gus and not see Buggin Out is a testament to how good of an actor he is.

Wait, what ? Gale was the douchebag journalist in The Wire ? Mind blown.

Yep. David Costabile has done some great work on a variety of shows. I always enjoy seeing him show up in something.

He's way more versatile than you'd first think. Compare Gale to the duder from The Wire.

His character on Damages was the biggest deviation from the mean, for me. He's done a lot of great character work on tv the last few years. I can't think of too many other actors that have covered such a wide range. Garret Dillahunt, maybe?

Sorry, I had to >_>

EDIT: Watching that video has made me miss Jesse's hair, bizarrely. I don't know why.

ffs people, they were not testing Jesses skills, just boosting his ego to manipulate him easier and maybe turn him against Hank.

each week I read this thread and Im baffled by most of the theories here.

Boosting his ego?

Pretty sure putting him in a situation to see how he would react. Mike calling to get picked up shows that they though he had bitched out and left him abandoned. It was a "swing your balls over your shoulder" test.

"everything happened exactly how you predicted, the kid is a "hero" now...."

pretty clear man.

He did what gus expected, that doesn't mean it was guaranteed. Saying it was just to boost his ego would imply that there was no other outcome.

So what's the point of boosting Jessie's ego or making him feel like a hero? Gus hates Jessie, thinks he's an incompetent druggie and wants to get him out of the operation as soon as possible. Gus could probalby just let Jessie kill himself with drugs.

Well, there's a few possibilities I'm split between at the moment:

1) Gus actually does want to use Jesse to act as a Victor-type person. Now, it's true that he didn't like Jesse much in the beginning, but since they've been employed by Gus, Walt is the one who's been nothing but trouble. Sure, Jesse was miffed about Gus' guys using children as dealers, but perhaps he could respect Jesse's objection to that, versus Walt's constant attempts to understand or undermine Gus. For the most part, Jesse came to work, did his part, and went home, without incident.

2) He's knows that he can't kill Jesse without pissing off Walt, so he's trying to drive a wedge between them so that he can eventually kill Jesse without Walt freaking out about it.

Of course, it could be something entirely different. The show's done a pretty good job of being unpredictable so far.

This is my guess. Something like this

RatskyWatsky

Hunky Nostradamus

I hope Aaron gets cast in an actual romantic comedy sometime soon, he obviously has a gift for it.

Yikes, I don't know if that would be a good idea. I don't think he plays romantic parts very well. He was pretty awful in Big Love.

for me-
Thursdays - Louie
Sundays - Breaking Bad + Curb

and all 3 shows are having amazing seasons!

AlternativeUlster

Absolutely pathetic part deux
I always associated Gale with The Wire and still do even though this season added more depth to his character and during his video karaoke was the first time I didn't tell myself it was the guy from the final season of The Wire.
