Didn't we hear from Dean Norris that something tragic was going to happen to Holly tomorrow?

Not to Holly, but in her presence or near her, anyway. I was sort of thinking of
Walt or Skyler using Holly to get in the door and kill someone or someone will be killed quietly nearby while Holly sleeps.

Is there any redemption for Walt at this point? Jesse is trying to find his way out of this spiralling career lined with death and really terrible events. Walt on the other hand has embraced his career path and its coming very natural to him. I hope the writers don't redeem Walt as he doesn't deserve redemption.

Walt definitely won't get redemption, someone in this thread mentioned earlier that on the official podcast for Buyout one of the producers wanted redemption for Walt, Gilligan said no that's not going to happen

I was the one to say that lol yea gilligan basically said he has to pay for his sins

I think the only fair way to end breaking bad as a series is no redemption for anyone. Literally. Everything and everyone must die.

Jesse ain't no rat. He would never talk.

I think he might if (or rather when) he finds out that he poisoned brock and shot mike. You can already see the seeds being planted for a showdown between the two and to be honest I don't see Jesse pulling the trigger on Walt himself, I think, given his more Zen like state lately, he is more likely to turn Walt in (himself included) to end it all.

Obviously we can't properly evaluate this (half) season compared to the others until tomorrow night, but does anyone else feel kind of like the show doesn't feel as elevated and high-stakes as it used to, and like it's stalling? Part of that is obviously because each prior season ramped up the stakes from RV cook to superlab kingpin and now Walt has to start over from scratch, but even beyond that I kind of feel like not much has been happening in the bigger game. There's no big bad anymore and the only real obstacles in Walt's path are Skylar and his own ego. The DEA doesn't have anything and the Madrigal connection didn't amount to much. Mike's death is a big deal but the other players might not even find out about it for a while (or ever). Prior seasons felt like they were building to a showdown but this season doesn't really feel like it has one, most episodes have felt more like a self-contained exploit in the Adventures of Walter White.

I still love the show but I'm not sure they really have a grasp on where they're going. Hopefully there's some sort of payoff tomorrow.

I feel like the stakes are being raised every single episode more and more. Walt's descent into the rabbit hole has been a slowburn but they've turned everything up 10 notches now.

I sorta feel the same way, but I think we'll have to withhold judgement until the season actually ends because you know they're gonna save the best for last.

Speaking of big bads, my view is that Walt is meant to be the big bad of the series, now that Gus is dead. As for your other points, it's true there are no real obstacles in Walt's path... at the moment but that could all change with the second half. It's just too bad we have to wait a year to see it.

Whose the guy Walter has taken under his wing as the new pinkman? That guy will kill Walt and inherit the empire, bank on it

That would actually be really funny, because if someone as dumb and green as Walt could take down Gus, it would take someone REALLY DUMB and REALLY GREEN to take down Walt. Todd fits the bill.

I don't think there's any way Todd will kill Walt. He's just too obedient. And besides, a character introduced in the fifth season will almost certainly not be the one to off the main character.

He killed a child, he has ambition. I imagine it'll resonate the same way WIRE SEASON 5 SPOILERS
a child killed motherfuckin Omar

Follow up from the hank "statement"

Wouldnt Holly having her mother killed and her father subsequently on the run because of it count as something tragic for her?

Just recently got into the show, and over the past month have marathoned all past seasons and all of season 5 so far. Really looking forward to the finale, although I would have preferred a shorter season than it being split in two.

Don't really have much else to say, but I recognize a lot more gifs than I used to.

Jesse ain't no rat. He would never talk.

His comment after the Hank ordeal says otherwise. If shit gets real again i could see him doing just that as Walt was/is his "bargaining chip".

Just saw the synopsis for the ep tomorrow on my cable guide and it looks like shit is going to get very real. Can't wait.

the ending of tomorrows episode is going to be the closest homage to a crime film yet. The ending sequence is going to be walt having a hit done on all of the prisoners, like in Godfather Pt I where the NY dons are assassinated.

I already said I hope that happens, and I still do. How amazing would it be if Walt is sitting at home, possibly even with Hank, with Holly in his arms, while we're shown a montage of people being murdered by his command.

Its crazy how Lydia and Todd are Walts closest assets now, he would have to go through them two to have it happen and I think it will. Walt wants those people gone and he knows how to get rid of them.

No, I don't agree, or rather I don't mind the changes of more focus on Walt as the big bad and how everyone around him is threatened by what he does.

Also I do believe that Hank will find out about Walt, so I think on that issue we will have developments. There is also the secrets of Walt towards Jesse and Jesse from standing a little his ground towards Walt, and starting to realize things about Walt. So basically as far as Walt having no obstacles, I expect that to change.

im rewatching once upon a time in the west.. the todd scene where he shoots the kid must have been inspired by the opening with henry fonda.. not to mention the train

didnt gilligan say he was a fan of that movie

maybe that was obvious to people on first watch
