No "best episode ever!" this time?

I wonder if that means it'll be awesome, or bad.

I had to take a break from this thread for a bit. All the Walt-hating and Skyler-empowering was creating an atmosphere that was just too poisonous for me to handle. But this is the last episode of the (half)season, so I'm back.

My friend at work who got me into Breaking Bad also got me into Tommy James and the Shondells. His question, and now my question: Why the hell did they never use Crystal Blue Persuasion as an intro or in a montage or something yet? Perhaps saving it for the final elisode? I would link the song but I'm on my Vita. Hopefully some kind soul can so you all can hear how great it'd fit with the show.

Ugh, I have a fantasy football draft around the same time as the episode. I'll have to watch it later.

Sucks, because if SkySky dies, I want to see it happen in real-time.

I hope he stages her suicide so that not only is she dead, but she'll look weak and pathetic on her way out. Junior will go on hating her, and their infant daughter will grow up to know what a weak, hypocritical cheater she was in life. Marie will wear dark purple to the funeral.

I hope he tries to choke her, but his weak little hands can't do the job properly and she knocks him down and escapes while coughing and trying to stay conscious. Last scene of the season is her in a hospital bed with Marie and Hank around her and she says, "...I need to tell you something about Walt."

Ooo I like that.

I can't believe this is finally coming to an end. Didn't realize ep. 8 would be the series finale.. There's pretty much no way the ending is going to please everyone, feels like it's ending too fast.

Yeah. I'm sure it will end in a cliffhanger too.

This is not the series finale, midway through the final season.

YES PLEASE!

Also do you guys remember the season premiere the first scene with Walt in that restaurant and his M60 machine gun, anyone know hows that going to play out?

This sounds like a terrible idea.

Yes, but I ain't telling. :P

I except next season to jump forward one year, or the final scene jumps forward to that scene.

At this time it seems unreal they can get up to the timeskip this year. Right now I'm guessing it's the first scene of series finale.

Mid-season finale tonight:
Gliding All Over

Walt takes care of loose ends; Walt makes a dangerous decision.
I'm not watching until a little later this evening, so the content roundup will be delayed a few hours. Like most finales, there were no screeners for critics this week, and I assume most reviews won't be up until tomorrow morning.

Enjoy the episode!

It's interesting they chose to do another flash-forward this season. Gilligan has talked at length about how doing it in season 2 drove the writers nuts trying to figure out how to make it work by the end; I think he implied they'd never do it again.

Ooh, this is a MacLaren-directed episode? Exciting. Will stay out of the thread after air, because you know why.

Really interested in seeing if the FF is addressed in this episode.

Are you happy that the midseason finale is tonight?

Reasonably.

What would make you unhappy?

This mofo not doing what he's told and making the episode fuck awesome.

Fun Fact: Gliding Over All, the title for the midseason finale is the title of a poem by Walt Whitman.

It's a very short poem, here it is:

GLIDING o'er all, through all,
Through Nature, Time, and Space,
As a ship on the waters advancing,
The voyage of the soul--not life alone,
Death, many deaths I'll sing.

I spoiler'd out the last line for all the sensitive "omg could that possibly be spoilers!!" sissies on neogaf :P

lol this is like the 100th time someone's pointed this out.

I'm going to spend the rest of the day mentally preparing myself for the 10 month wait that will immediately follow this hopefully super fucking awesome mid-season finale.

I'm not sure how I'll feel if Skyler actually does die in this episode.

Sure, she's a terrible character, but I'm not 100% sure that she deserves complete annihilation for anything she's done.

I guess it depends on how she gets taken out.

That's awesome.

I really like the idea someone mentioned earlier of having a montage of the 9 guys in prison getting killed by Walt's orders while Walt sits in Hank's house holding Holly.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Skylar doesn't tell Marie about Walt's meth business until after Walt dies. Hank will for sure figure it out before then though.

I think Lydia and Walt will try to kill each other. Walt has no reason to trust Lydia after she tried to have Mike killed, and of course Lydia has no reason to trust Walt considering he killed Mike for no real reason.

How the fuck did she do anything to deserve to die? She got dragged into money-laundering and she is doing everything she can to keep the children far away from Walt.

Why does it matter if Skyler deserves to die or not? I hope they're not going to pander to the fans on who lives or die. She's in Walt's wake now, and his path of destruction hasn't really obliterated anyone he cares about in a significant way apart from emotional fragility. I'm thinking she does get taken out in a big way considering her character has kind of come to a natural conclusion now.
