I have to admit I'm kinda disappointed. Which doesn't make sense since aside from the way Hank found out I thought it was one of my favorite episodes in the series - I said gotdamn to both those montages (and Lydia). That being said, I guess at this point I don't really care what the catalyst was so much as the fact that he actually knows now. Gonna be a brutal 10 months

That distribution montage really overstayed its welcome. It felt too long.

I don't know. I like that Gale will be avenged.

Hank's always been right on everything (usually via hunches based on small amounts of evidence,) survived numerous encounters with death against people far more savage and able than he, probably the only important main character who's arguable completely moral. The entire show he's had massive clues that Walt is Heisenberg right in front of him. Last season he knew Gus was dirty, (shockingly) proven right in the end, and what does he do these entire eight episodes? Take a desk job (for Marie?) and do nothing. Then he just happens to finally find completely unambiguous evidence on the toilet in the mid-season finale? The writers have been stalling this outcome for a long time. Fuck AMC.

Pacing is so out of whack, these eight episodes should've been more like four + one dedicated to the three month time gap. Walt should be running away from ABQ in the finale.
 
So, do you guys think Hank will do a little investigation of his own first, or will let the DEA (or only Gomie) know ASAP?
 
Hank is definitely going to do research by himself at first....hell he might keep it quiet for awhile and confront walt before he does the DEA

Do nothing, what? He was on Mike's tail the entire time.
 
It was kind of surprising that Skyler (who was for the most part careful) keeps a big ass pile of money in storage with only a blanket to hide it.
 
Simply great mid-season finale. Beautifully shot, extremely tense. The ending was perfect, everything had to happen this way. It just had to. The whole episode I couldn't help but notice how smoothly everything was going.

Overall this half season was terrific IMO. Only thing is, I could have had more Jesse scenes.

Season rankings as of now. 4>5(pt.1)>3>2>1
 
I knew that Gale was bad news. Behind that effeminate, goofy facade was a tiger lying in wait, waiting until his prey - poor Walt - was at his most comfortable and unsuspecting to pounce. He didn't even do the job himself. No, he connected the dots for Hank so that Gale doesn't have to get his hands dirty.

Ghost Gale is a fucking dick.
 
Did not like the ending. Hank had to find out sooner or later, but Walt leaving a book-THAT BOOK-just lying around in his bathroom?

Still, next season should be fun. The show still has legs.
 
Let's think about it:

If Walt is alive and free 9 months from the moment Hank finds out about him; it means he'll probably die.

The consequences of Hank dying in Walt's hands can be catastrophic. Skyler will figure it out easily, so his family is one thing he'll be losing, at least.

I can't see a bright light in the end of the tunnel for Walt. :(
 
Episode was perfect except for the totally unnecessary flashback at the end - you can't even argue it's for people who didn't see S4 because they wouldn't know who "GB" refers to anyway. Would've been better to see Hank open the book, read the note, and then have that expression.

A+ season, Breaking Bad beat out its year's respective Mad Men season for the first time.

hm your phrasing make it kind of hard to tell what you're asking, but: hank reads a whitman book addressed to someone's other favorite w.w. from a g.b. He remembers talking to walt about Gale Boetticher's odd quotes about w.w. He starts to put pieces together. that's where we leave off.

I think that was the whole point. That money was made in 3 MONTHS! She was so overwhelmed by it she just didn't give a shit.

It wasn't unnecessary at all since it accomplished its purpose for the viewer (Hank finally realizing who it is). Plus those final 3 words cemented it imo.

I completely forgot about it. I think the flashback was a big help.

The flashback was awesome. "Heh. You got me." makes it.

Episode 8: Walt unceremoneously dies of flu-like symptoms
