How the hell are they still going to have that many games?

Are we going to be watching the finals in August?
4 games per week versus 3.5 games a week with a normal season. They also have arenas booked until the end of June. Finals usually end within the first two weeks of June.

I see all the LeBron haters are back in full force.

See you guys at the Finals again. We're closing it out this time.

(Man, I'm so glad NBA-GAF is back!)

Celoltics back in action, but that also means Jeff Green back as well :(

haha at Jermaine O'neal still the starting center fsdkfdsfdkfdsfds, i need my HaronGODy back

If being able to travel from half court to the hoop with no real defense is basketball...

Well if we're making generalizations, shitty failed layups/dunks leading to tons of free throws is as much real basketball as dribbling around in circles for ages, going nowhere, and jacking up a horrible three. The NBA is still more entertaining than college ball despite the bs of superstar calls and no handchecking.

Laughing at all the college basketball defenders in here. If watching teams jack up 19 foot 3 pointers all day long and play weak ass zones is your thing then more power to you. I'd prefer a December NBDL game then a final 4 game.

Then why do more people watch the NCAA tournament than the NBA post season?

Why did George Bush get elected twice?

Seriously though it's the gambling aspect and the 1 loss and done aspect of the tournament. The quality of actual basketball compared to the NBA is abysmal though. Just absolutely horrid to watch.

Wasn't last years' title game like 30% shooting for both teams?

On a night where Dancing with the Stars usually reigns supreme, CBS got a very solid average viewership of 20.1 million people. While the rating of 11.7 with an 18 share is down from last year’s monster 14.2/23, getting 20.1 million people is quite an accomplishment. CBS will take that audience every time.

NEW YORK -- The NBA's championship-winning game for the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday was seen by nearly 24 million people, leading ABC to its most-watched week during the slow summer season in nearly 10 years.

:)

NCAA is way more interesting because teams are far more likely to play as actual teams. In the NBA you end up getting a couple star players who just keep the ball, drive to the hoop and dunk. It's so dull. Players are far more likely to be aiming for their own stats to help their contracts than employing any significant teamwork. There's still some self-interest in the NCAA of course, thanks to the NBA being the next stop for many players, but it's to a much smaller degree.

See the same shit in college ball. Sorry but no, the level of skill is just flat out higher in the NBA games. Its superior ball, that cannot be ignored. College ball is great, has its charm, but as a fan of the sport, I cannot just ignore the game being played at a higher level.

There's a lot of self-interest in the NCAA, pretty much all the top 25 teams have atleast 1 potential lottery pick that is doing nothing but playing for himself. You have guards that flat out can't make entry passes into the post, teams that do nothing but pass the ball on the perimeter and take around 40 3s per game. What champion in the NBA hasn't played like a "team"? Please point one out in the last 20 years, meanwhile the College game has had a 1 man show win a title (Syracuse with Melo).

You need to stop watching Heat games because the majority of playoff teams are actual teams. Yeah the emphasis and burden is on the star players but that's no different than any other sport, like how much the NFL relies on QBs now.

For the NCAA v NBA argument, I normally prefer the NBA, but the foul calling stuff has gotten so annoying in the NBA that I almost prefer watching NCAA now. It's almost the best strategy just to run it into the hoop and get a call, and everyone does it. And almost anything is a foul call. Breath on the guy the wrong way and it's a foul. I really hate how much it has slowed the game down. It felt pretty jarring when I got back into watching NBA for the first time since I was young.

The alternative to that was the early 2000s, defenses had gotten to the point where it was becoming extremely difficult to score because teams were playing possession basketball thanks to Larry Brown and Pat Riley. Those Pacers vs Pistons and Knicks vs Heat series would have become the norm if the rules weren't changed to allow more freedom on the perimeter. You can't have an influx of all these new 6"10 wing defenders with their 7"5 wingspans and allow them zone defense+handchecking, the game was changing and the rules had to change along with it.

Yeah I much prefer the elegance of passing around the perimeter until the shot clock is down to 5 and then hoisting up a shot (that goes in 30% of the time) that only the NCAA can bring.

I'd like to just see a 55 game season.

20 against your division rivals (2&2), 20 against your conference rivals (1&1), 15 against the other conference (alternate home and away years with an 8/7 or 7/8 split).

As it is now, the regular season does seem to drag on. This year's shortened regular season might make me more interested though.

Good news and i cant wait to see lebron winning again! Bring it on miami! I was about to sell nba2k12 again since i wasnt that motivated for basketball lately but i guess im gonna keep it now!

Boooooooooosh!

This is the most uninformed and idiotic post in recent NBA-gaf history. I'd say congratulations, however, instead why don't you alt-tab somewhere else?

Keep drinking your fucking haterade, that's all I gotta say. We're getting the rings this year. Mark Cuban can suck it. This season is going to be awesome, shortened or no.

A CHALLENGER has appeared!

Hey dummy, your front runner fantasy squad lost. Just suck it up.

NCAA sucks. I'll watch top 16 of the big tournament... maybe.

That year Stephen Curry went off was fun.

you're not pimp.
and the only thing that's closing is lebron's investment portfolio because he'll be losing about a quarter to the dollar come crunch time.

i love this. moar lebron cocksucking.

Hey, I didn't say it was perfect. And I did say I almost prefer it. Really it's just so annoying sometimes, and slows the game down so much. I don't want to see people shooting free throws all day. It's boring as hell.
