Is this game written for 13-14 year olds who still think words like "fuck" and "dildo" are awesome and cool? I want to play the game but the dialogue is the most annoying thing about the game. I hope there's an option to mute the dialogue.

I am referring to the dumbest marketing video I've seen in a while posted on Gametrailers. How hard is it to write "offensive" dialogue? I don't find it offensive, just for a lack of a better word. I just find it immature and I have little respect for people who talk like the characters in this game. It's just so overdone. A "fuck" every once in a while is fine, but they are going out of their way to try to make it a controversial/"fun" aspect of the game.

Fuck that shit mother-fucking-tossing-salad-loving barnyard-humping developers. I want this stuff metaphorically to go the way like the person in the Mr Hands video.

Am I making my point?

Nope your missing the entire point, think of it as a sci-fi version of the expendables written by a comic book creator.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
"Epic Edition"

har har....

on a serious note it's strange to see an EA published game housing the beta for a game being published by another company.

True, but I doubt I can't complain if it improves the sales of their game.

PS3 version is gonna run like shit, innit?

Who knows? It is a people can fly game but under Epic supervision and their UT3 on PS3 was a pretty good version.

Wait... if you're into Gears... why wouldn't you be into Bulletstorm? It looks like a more fun version of that game, except in an FPS.

That's a good point. Bur for me, Halo Reach is the only FPS I need for now. Maybe that'll change by the time Bullestorm is out though.

I mean, I might buy Bulletstorm eventually, but probably not at release.

Well this pretty much confirms that Bulletstorm for the 360 will be the top selling game for February. I think EA knows that the sony faithful will be buying Killzone 3 on that same week.

I do not avoid women, GAF, but I do deny them my essence.
I just watched the story and character trailer. It looks hilariously over-the-top. Entirely stupid and embarrassing, but there is an element of artistry in the cadence and delivery of offensiveness. There is a poeticism about it.

Does it appeal to 13 and 14 year olds? Yes. Does it appeal to me, a nihilistic 23 year old who appreciates an immature sense of not giving a fuck? Yes.

edit: btw, this is an EA partners game, isn't it? So I'm sure Epic had enough say in the contract going into the publishing deal to get something like this through.

How is this not anything but a brilliant business move? We say GAF is more than just talking about video games but the actual business of the industry also.
Well played I say. Day now!!

Honestly, I doubt this had any problems at all as the increased sales will benefit all involved.

Good move from a business perspective, but as it's just early beta access I think I'll wait and see what other way there is to access the beta.

I think this is kind of lame. PS3 version sent to die. I wonder how the port is going to be. I'll still think about buying the PS3 version though. Its not cool to know its the throw away version though.

Well that's not really true ..

EA has made several PS3 versions of their recent games into "special editions" with extra content as well, didn't make their 360 counterparts any worse for wear.

I was already buying it. But gears 3 access as well?Yes please. We did discuss this kind of situation earlier this year but thought it would never happen.

How? The PS3 version of this is being sent to die just like the 360 versions of Dante's Inferno, Medal of Honor, and Dead Space 2 were being sent to die (are in the case of DS2). At least there's a reason here (no Gears on PS3) instead of just exclusive fuckery.

Bullet Storm is coming out the same bay as Killzone 3. The PS3 version of Bullet Storm always had an uphill battle.

Well then it sounds like Killzone's being sent to die!

Wait...it's a special edition for X360 that doesn't cost more than the $59.99 standard pricing? Hmmm...cool.
They started packing in voucher codes into all new copies of their games and started calling them Limited Editions earlier this year. Bad Company 2 was one of the first games they did it with and more recently Medal of Honor and NFS: Hot Pursuit.

If I'm a dual owner: (PS3 and 360) Whats to entice me to get the PS3 version over 360?

Maybe its just me, I'm looking forward to a new IP and this looks intresting. I didnt want to get the 360 version.

The split on many multiplatform games suggest there isn't a huge amount of overlap in the PS3/360 userbases. Maybe some ardent PS3 fans might feel put off knowing 360 buyers are getting a bonus if they're not getting any, but on the wider market I don't know if it would have a huge impact. If the game is desirable it'll sell commensurately on both, if it's not desirable, well on 360 it might have gotten a little moreso for some people. If the game went on now to sell well on 360 but not on PS3, all it tells me is that if it weren't for the beta bonus, it mightn't have attracted as much attention on 360 either.

Ah, I see. Didn't pick up any of those and didn't keep any tabs on their releases, so this comes as a mild surprise in a time when so many games ask for significant percentages in price over the $60 mark for anything included that approaches being DLC-worthy (even if they're not really).

If you haven't played Painkiller, you probably don't know that you should be excited for Bulletstorm. If you have, then you're already in line for Bulletstorm day one.

And why ?

Since you own both consoles you can get the better version anyway.

It's not lame. And I don't see any problem with this. It's a business and they are trying to make sure their new IP is successful.

However, the PS3 was really sent to die. Not because of the Gears 3 beta but because it's a new IP releasing in the same day as one of the most established games in the same genre. It's almost like Epic wants PS3 sales to fail, so they can justify not developing for that console.

truth.

Always go 360 especially if its a unreal engine involved.

I would normally agree with this but seeing as how it's actually an EPIC in house game I highly doubt this will ring true. Play Unreal Tournament III for PS3. They know what they are doing.

Oh yeah I forgot about that game. Wasn't the 360 version still better though? I can't remember.

To be fair, EA most likely had far more say in when Bullet Storm is released than Epic/People Can Fly

Isn't the release date decided by publisher and not developer? And since EA is putting Extraction exclusively on PS3 CE, I guess this is one way they are trying to balance out the other side.

I expected this, but I was beginning to think they weren't gonna do it anymore with how long it took. It says guaranteed early access so I'd guess that it isn't the only way into the beta, which I hope it isn't.

And use cover, and shoot aliens. I mean. What is Gears? Hiding behind cover and shooting aliens. Bulletstorm has the cover, it has the aliens, except it actually makes it more fun to kill everything. If you're a fan of Gears, I don't see what isn't to like about this.

edit: Yeah, I definitely come from a Painkiller background. That's why I'm picking it up. But it basically looks like Painkiller mixed with Gears, and some polished up Necrovision combo action.

You could break many games down to simple shit like that. This looks nothing like Gears.

"If you like Gran Turismo, why wouldn't you like Mario Kart? You race in both, except Mario Kart actually makes it more fun to win against everyone".

Sorry but I disagree. Its a new IP being introduced both on 360 and PS3. On the same day its going against Killzone3, which has already a wider fan base. If it was just a 360 exclusive, and had the Gears Beta, than I can see why they would pump that version up. Going head to head with Killzone. To sell more copies of the PS3 version and to establish a bigger fanbase on PS3, they should introduce something on that platform to entice the PS3 crowd.

I don't see this as balancing anything. How can anyone with a PS3 or PC be pissed because they aren't getting beta access to Gears 3 that's not even going to release on those platforms?

Also, I doubt Epic hadn't any say in this release date. Of course, EA had to agree with it but Epic is not only a developer either.

It seems we agree however. Release date is the bigger problem for PS3 owners.

That's a dishonest comparison. Bulletstorm looks like what would happen if you mix Gears and Painkiller, and add in the Necrovision combo system. You can't say the same about Mario Kart. It is blatently completely different. Come on dude.
