Burnout 4 - Whose picking it up Day One next week

It needs to be called Burnout Revenge. We can't confuse potential buyers.

This game is going to be amazing.

Also look out for Burnout Legends September 13th on PSP. TWO great games, ONE great day!

I'll be picking up Legends for sure, as I only had a taste of Burnout 3 while playing it at a buddies house, and never tried the previous 2. I'll more than likely get around to 'Revenge' later on in the year though :)

The dillema is that I don't know if Legends will be enough to hold me over until Burnout hits the next gen consoles. I played the demo of Revenge on the Madden disc and it's awesome.

I'll probably get both, but only one of them on Day 1. I'm leaning towards holding off on the PSP version for a couple of months. The difference between the PS2 & PSP versions is pretty extreme and I'm a little racered out on the PSP right now.

I'm waiting to see if they have improved the online portion. I grew tired of getting booted out of games all the time or having people get disconnected randomly. I think it was EA's server causing all of that shit.

I'm also hoping for improvement on the online and AI components of the game. Those were the two thigns that killed the game for me.

From playing the BO : R demo, the AI seems way more aggressive and fair. Much improved.
Awesome. Nothing sucked more in BO:3 was crashing someone on a 1 on 1 game, non-stop boosting afterwards, and 5 seconds later he gets back on your tail. He wipes you out, and when you start he's 10 seconds ahead of you. Nice.

I'm definitely buying Revenge, but perhaps Legends will be my Day 1 purchase.

For some mysterious reason, I traded in my Burnout and Burnout 2 discs and I'm jonesing for some of those old tracks.

I hope Crash Mode is fixed in Revenge.

Crash mode is fixed in Legends already. They took out multipliers. The biggest problem in 3 fixed right there.

Hooray!

Do you know if this might be true for Revenge as well?

Crash mode in Revenge is done a totally different way. A target car along with a crashbreaker meter are the main focus's.

It looks interesting, I will have to try it out before I fully support and hype it though.

I thought some people said that the rubberband AI in 3 was still in Revenge? Which sucks, that's the absolute main complaint I had about 3. That being said, I still am definetely getting this at launch, although it's coming from Gamefly (Keep It is cheaper than buying it retail), so I won't get it until a few days later.

From what I've heard, multipliers have totally been eliminated from Crash mode on both of the new games (Burnout Revenge and Burnout Legends).

I've got Burnout Revenge for PS2 and Burnout Legends for PSP preordered, and intend to get them as soon as they're available!

this may have changed, but i had gotten my hopes up when some mag interview said that the crash mode in Revenge is how they had really wanted to do the crash mode in 2.

i played the fuck out of the crash mode in 2. so here's hoping. (AND PUT BACK IN LETTING ME USE MY INITIALS FOR HIGH SCORES FFS)

As always EA won't send me a preview or even a review copy, so this time I'll wait for some comments about the AI, especially in duels, before buying it. I won't do the same mistake twice.

Did you play it pretty early in release? (BO3 I mean). I played it to DEATH online, but very late in its life (just before it went GH), and I never had a single problem. Maybe they fixed it? And if they fixed up B03, thats a good sign for the BO:Revenge! BO3 was probably the most fun I've ever had online, so I'm really looking forward to the next one.

Played the demo - the game does that motion blur when you start to pick up speed that makes it impossible to see the pretty background graphics, and I hate the way the game just stops and does a cut scene every time there's a crash. I guess these games just aren't for me... I'll stick to Outrun 2.

Going to grab Legends for the PSP.

1st game since about 2 weeks after the US PSP launch.

Wifes brother in law will be getting the XBox version.

I know where I will be for part of this weekend. :D

Yeah, I played it since release. It had problems for months on end from what I could tell, so I traded the game in for credit at EB. Glad to hear things ran better for you. I'm going to still "wait and see" though.

Not sure which I am getting, PSP game or X-Box game. I will get both eventually, but which to get first? The Revenge demo on Madden was SICK! So many different routes, improved graphics, different takedowns, etc. But having portable Burnout will rock too. BTW, I am STILL playing BO3, lol.

xbox version, day 1. which is slightly frustrating as the psp version looks a bit interesting and I'll probably want it on 360 as well. I hate to spend so much on a racing franchise in such a short time. I'll just stick with xbox version for a bit.

WTF are you talking about?

There is a small cutscene (about 5 seconds) whenever a rival takes you down in a race. These cutscenes are there to show you which car is your revenge rival.

I'm definately going to pick up Legends because I'm almost done with Wipeout, and this should tide me over until GTA:LCS. What's Mercury like btw?

I'm not sure on Burnout Revenge yet...

Fun, occasionally frustrating, but ultimately worthwhile diversion. However, loading timess can be pretty irritating and replay value is pretty low in the main game once you go through all the levels.

I'm on it, release day.

So it's still set for 9/13, then? I just assumed that like every other freaking game I want this year, it got delayed. :P

I got the Best Buy demo a few weeks ago, it's still incredibly fun. Not a fan of the brown everywhere, but I'm sure there will be some diversity.

Yeah, there are 8 different locations. If I remember correctly, they are:
- Motor City
- Eternal City
- Sunshine Keys
- Lone Peak
- White Mountain
- Angel Valley
- Eastern Bay
- Central Route

Should be enough, although I wish they had put more tracks instead of the mirror mode...
